She sighed softly: "If you want to cry, just cry."
Lu Yiming couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears.
In the living room, Lu Yicheng was watching TV with his sister. Hearing the crying, Si Xi hesitated and asked, "Why is my brother crying? Did he make a mistake? Did mom beat him?"
Lu Yicheng put a piece of peeled apple into her mouth: "When have you ever seen our mother beat someone?"
Si Xi chewed the apple vigorously, seemingly unable to understand: "Then why is my brother crying?"
A trace of worry flashed in Lu Yicheng's eyes. He gently rubbed his sister's head and said, "Little kids, don't worry about big kids' affairs."
Lu Yiming cried for a long time, tears streaming down his face. Lin Qingyue looked at him with pity and silently handed him a tissue.
Finally, he seemed to be tired of crying and his emotions gradually calmed down.
She said softly, "Yiming, we don't need you to be too sensible. We hope you can be more lively and cheerful like Lu Yicheng."
Lu Yiming looked at Lin Qingyue with red and swollen eyes. In fact, he used to have a personality similar to his brother, mischievous and naughty. He was just afraid of being disliked.
That's why he controlled Lu Yicheng in every way, just like an adult.
Lin Qingyue saw through his thoughts at a glance and comforted him softly, "Children are supposed to be naughty and playful. Adults have to clean up your messes part of the time. We are your parents, after all."
Lu Yiming bit his lip, looking touched, and nodded slightly.
"Mom, can you take me with you when you go to see them next time?" he asked cautiously, as if he was afraid of being rejected.
"Of course." Lin Qingyue felt distressed. She thought about it carefully and said, "But not now, because the border is still very dangerous. Dad and his colleagues are working hard to maintain peace on the border."
"Once the border is safe, you can all go." She rubbed Lu Yiming's soft hair.
Lu Yiming nodded vigorously. He was still young and could not understand the national justice, but he knew that his father and those uncles were doing something great.
Because he cried for a while, Lu Yiming went to bed early. Lu Yicheng and Sixi watched TV for a while and also felt sleepy.
In the evening, Lin Qingyue finished washing up and returned to her room. Lu Siyi was writing a report. When he saw her come in, he stopped writing and asked, "I just heard Lu Yiming's child crying. Did something happen?"
She sighed leisurely: "The children miss their parents. They are embarrassed to surround me and ask questions. Let Yiming come and talk to them."
"It's really heartbreaking to see him endure it and act like a good kid."
The light in Lu Siyi's eyes flickered, and he said, "When the border is peaceful, take the children over to have a look. Tang Zheng..." He pursed his lips, "They should miss their children too."
Lin Qingyue nodded and prepared to go to bed, but Lu Siyi pulled her to the desk and took out a small knife from the drawer.
"This Swiss Army knife is for your self-defense," he whispered.
She fiddled with the heavy knife in her hand and pressed a button. The blade inside popped out, shining with a cold light and extremely sharp.
"Why did you give me a knife for self-defense?" she was puzzled.
"Just in case, otherwise I'll be worried." Lu Siyi narrowed his eyes slightly, as if hiding something.
