Chapter 319 Love to the End

Meng Sheng laughed and reached out to pinch her little face. "I haven't seen you for a few days. Miaomiao looks much better. How are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

"Well... Daddy said I'm feeling better now. I don't suddenly have difficulty breathing when I sleep at night anymore. I wanted to go home, but Daddy said no, I have to get better before I can go home."

Meng Sheng patted her head and comforted her, "It's okay. As long as Miaomiao eats well, takes medicine and injections properly, she will get better and better."

Miaomiao nodded with a smile, "Yeah, that's what dad said too."

As she spoke, she squatted down, picked up the paper airplane, and held it up to Meng Sheng. "Aunt Meng, look, this is the paper airplane my dad folded for me. It can fly very far."

Meng Sheng played with Miaomiao outside for a few minutes, gave her two bags of snacks, and then went into Meng Chengli's ward.

She disinfected herself in the outer hall and went into the house.

Meng Chengli's complexion didn't look too bad, and he wasn't losing any weight, but he looked a little less energetic.

"Dad, what did you do? Why do you look so tired?"

She put the things on the cabinet and noticed that there were two fruit baskets on the wooden coffee table and many supplements placed beside them.

Somewhat surprised, "Who sent these?"

Meng Chengli smiled and seemed to be in a very good mood, "Your uncle, aunt, and cousin came to see me this morning. We had lunch together and then left.

In the afternoon, Miaomiao's grandparents came to visit her and stopped by to see me. They chatted with Achen's father for a while and talked about academics. I haven't talked so much in a long time, and I was very happy.

Meng Sheng was not surprised that Xu Feng and others came to visit Meng Chengli.

Ever since Meng Chengli was transferred to the hospital in the south of the city, the Xu family has come to visit him at least once every two weeks.

Sometimes it was Xu Feng, sometimes it was Lou Shumin with Xu Pianran, but the one who came most often was her cousin Xu Jinmin.

What surprised her was that Fu Chen's parents actually came to see Meng Chengli and had such a good chat with Fu Chen's father.

If she remembered correctly, one of them was a scholar in the field of history and literature, and the other was a scholar in the medical system. Could two completely different systems really have a clear conversation across borders?

But seeing Meng Chengli so happy, she also smiled.

Ever since he was diagnosed with gastric cancer during the Chinese New Year, the disease has been recurring, and Meng Chengli has never been so happy. Even when he laughs, sometimes it is only forced out to comfort the brother and sister.

Most of the time, he was in a heavy mood.

As early as when Xu Li died in a car accident, Meng Chengli's mentality collapsed once, and he even had the tendency to follow Xu Li. Later, he was afraid that his brother and sister would not be able to accept it, so he gritted his teeth and cheered up again.

She knew that her father loved her mother deeply.

My mother told me that he spent nearly a year pursuing her, and after they got married, he treated her like a treasure.

For decades, it has remained the same and has never changed.

It was precisely because of these things that when Meng Sheng and Shang Boyu were together, they saw how much Shang Boyu cared about her and did not care about Shang Boyu's illegitimate status and happily agreed to the marriage.

All they wish for is that their children can live a happy life.

Therefore, family background and status are not important, the most important thing is character.

However, there are too few lifelong relationships in this world.

No one can know what the ending will be when love comes to the end.

There are very few people who are as devoted to their mother as her father is to her.

No one could have predicted what would happen in the future, and no one could have known how a marriage built with love would end up in a breakup and enmity.

Just like her marriage with Shang Boyu.

Now Meng Chengli's mood has improved. Although his complexion has not changed much, at least there is light in his eyes.

Not as bleak and sad as before.

Seeing him like this, Meng Sheng was wondering whether he should invite the old gentleman from the Fu family to come two more times?

This way, his father's mood will be better and his body will recover much faster. Who knows, he might even be able to eat half a bowl of rice more at each meal?

But the thought only flashed through her mind for a moment before she turned it over.

It was just a joke. There was no way she would bother the Fu family.

Meng Chengli usually has dinner around seven o'clock.

The nanny brought the meal over and just as she placed the folding table on the bed, a babyish voice came in, "Grandpa Meng, Auntie Meng, I'm here!"

After the little girl disinfected herself, she ran to the bedside and said with a smile, "Grandpa Meng, I'm here to have dinner with you."

Meng Chengli's eyes were filled with love. "Okay. Shengsheng, set up the other table as well."

Meng Sheng smiled and put up another folding table. Sister He, the nanny who was taking care of Miaomiao, also put up the meal she brought.

There are four dishes and a soup in total.

"Miaomiao, where's your dad?" Meng Chengli asked casually when he saw so many dishes on the table. "The three of us can't eat much, so ask your dad to come and eat with us."

"Dad..."

Fu Xuanmiao had just opened her mouth when footsteps were heard at the door. The three of them turned their heads and saw Fu Chen walking in.

Fu Chen looked like he wanted to say something to Miaomiao, but when he saw Meng Sheng, he was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Shengsheng? When did you come?"

"I came in the afternoon." Meng Sheng smiled. "Are you not busy today?"

"I had a major surgery last night, and it ended around eight in the morning. I slept in the dorm and just went to check on the room."

Fu Chen walked over, stopped in front of her, and poked Miaomiao's forehead with his hand. "I didn't see her in the ward, so I knew she must have come to disturb Uncle Meng again."

Meng Chengli waved his hand. "What do you mean by not disturbing me? It's more lively here with Miaomiao than eating alone. Don't move back. The food will get cold if you keep moving. Just bring a stool over and eat together."

"Dad, come quickly, come quickly, this fish looks delicious today."

Miaomiao also shouted happily.

Fu Chen smiled, pulled a chair over, and sat next to Meng Sheng without moving.

Although the tables were joined together, the meal was a joyful occasion.

In such a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, Meng Chengli actually ate half a bowl of rice more, and even finished the green fish meat that Meng Sheng picked for him.

After dinner, the two nannies cleared the dishes and cleared the dining table.

Meng Chengli was telling a story, and Meng Sheng asked Fu Chen about her father's health condition in the past two days.

She didn't know whether Fu Chen treated every patient the same way, but he remembered Meng Chengli's condition and data very clearly.

Even without a medical record or any examination report, he could still accurately describe all the data.

He knows it like the back of his hand.

Fu Chen answered fluently. Every time he mentioned a professional term, he would stop and wait for her to ask questions. He would continue until she had no more doubts.

For every symptom and every situation, he would also provide a solution and explain it clearly to her.

By the time the two finished talking, more than half an hour had passed.

Meng Sheng noticed that his voice seemed a little hoarse, so he stopped talking.

I stood up and poured him a glass of warm water. "I'm sorry to have kept you for so long and made you talk so much. Have a drink of water to moisten your throat."

"It doesn't matter. Helping patients' families resolve their doubts is also our professional duty as doctors."

Fu Chen took the cup of water, his voice gentle and soft, a hint of smile in his eyes. He took a sip of the warm water, and the water flowed down his dry throat. For some reason, it always caused a slight itch wherever it passed.

He couldn't help but want to drink another sip, one after another.

He drank the whole glass of water.

He stared at the empty glass. It was clearly just an ordinary cup of warm boiled water, but why did it feel like he was drinking greasy dark chocolate?

He smiled, put the cup on the coffee table, and looked up, just in time to meet Meng Sheng's calm and peaceful eyes.

He paused, stood up and asked, "When are you leaving?"
