Chapter 481 Keep her alive for three months

Upon hearing this, the dean remained silent immediately. Meng Sheng knew that he didn't visit Qiming Mental Hospital every day, nor was he fully aware of the current situation of everyone inside.

After waiting for a while, someone on the other end must have reported Ning Weiwei's current situation. He paused for a moment before speaking.

"Ms. Meng, I apologize for keeping you waiting. I just had someone verify the situation."

Dean Qian spoke frankly, "That's right, Ning Weiwei suffered from stress trauma on both a mental and psychological level..."

Meng Sheng listened to a bunch of technical terms, and the simple translation was that Ning Weiwei had gone mad, and was sometimes sane and sometimes mad. When she was sane, she would shout that she wanted to go out and for help, and she would also randomly call out for her parents. She said that Aunt Xu was wrong and that she should not come looking for her or take her away. She didn't want to die, and if anyone was going to take her, it should take Meng Sheng instead.

When she goes crazy, she'll point at the wall and yell at Meng Sheng, Shang Boyu, Pei Sui, her parents, and Yu Qionghua.

She'll curse anyone who can be blamed.

Last week, another crazy woman moved into her ward, and the two ended up fighting in the middle of the night. Ning Weiwei's face was almost healed, but it was scratched again that night. She wouldn't cooperate when they applied medicine, and she bumped into the doctor, trying to escape.

Meng Sheng listened quietly to Dean Qian's description, her eyes filled with frost and indifference, her heart as calm as a still lake, without the slightest ripple.

She gave a disdainful smirk.

Even at this point, Ning Weiwei remained incorrigible, though of course, she also hoped that Ning Weiwei would change.

I just find it ironic.

Ning Weiwei's wickedness and malice are no one's fault but her own; she was born with inherent flaws.

Just as Pei Sui said, Ning Weiwei deserves whatever ending she chooses; she is not pitiful at all.

After he finished speaking, Qian Yuanjiu didn't hear Meng Sheng's words for a long time, so he tentatively asked, "Miss Meng, do you have any other instructions?"

Meng Sheng snapped out of her daze and said calmly to the person on the phone, "No, I don't care if she's crazy or how crazy she is. I only have one request: don't let her die."

Upon hearing this, Dean Qian was somewhat troubled. Given Ning Weiwei's current condition, she might develop suicidal tendencies soon, and his people couldn't possibly stay by her side 24 hours a day.

I felt we needed to make things clear, otherwise he wouldn't be able to take responsibility if something went wrong.

"Um... Miss Meng, if... Ning Weiwei has suicidal tendencies later on..."

Before she could finish speaking, Meng Sheng suddenly chuckled softly, "Dean Qian, I believe you can do it. I need you to keep her alive for three months. As for what happens after three months... we'll see."

It depends on her mood.

She always felt that letting Ning Weiwei die so easily was too good for her.

Dean Qian was so flustered by her sudden laughter that he stood up from his chair and said with a smile, "Okay, I understand, Miss Meng. Don't worry, Ning Weiwei will definitely live well for the next three months."

"Yes, thank you for your trouble."

She hung up the phone, her gaze distant. The rain outside seemed to be falling even harder, and she could no longer see the road ahead.

The rain continued until 3:30 p.m. Meng Sheng handed over the remaining tasks to Qiao Na and then took the car keys to the Municipal Criminal Investigation Detachment.

The art museum is not far from the Criminal Investigation Division, about a ten-minute walk away.

Before getting off the bus, Meng Sheng called Chen Ye, but the call rang for a while before being answered.

"Team Leader Chen, I've arrived."

"I'm interrogating Cheng Jie. I'll have someone meet you at the door."

"good."

After hanging up the phone, Meng Sheng changed her driving shoes into silver stilettos, opened a black umbrella, and got out of the car.

The reflection of the shoe heel piercing the water's surface blends seamlessly with the ripples spread by the falling rain.

The rain was heavy, and her skirt got wet after walking only a short distance. She had to quicken her pace. Fortunately, the parking lot was not far from the main entrance of the Municipal Bureau, and she arrived in no time.

She closed the umbrella, patted the water stains off her skirt, placed the umbrella on the umbrella rack, and stepped inside.

A policewoman saw her and asked softly, "Hello, miss, how can I help you?"

"I……"

Meng Sheng had just started to speak when she heard someone call her, "Miss Meng."

She looked up and saw a familiar face. It was the young police officer, surnamed Hou, named Chuan, whom she had met twice before when he went on a call with Captain Chen.

She smiled and nodded in greeting, "Officer Hou."

Hou Chuan smiled and said, "Captain Chen is interrogating Cheng Jie and sent me to pick you up. Come with me."

"Okay, thank you."

Meng Sheng followed him through a maze of turns to the interrogation area, which was much quieter than the main hall. There was almost no sound. When only one male police officer entered one of the interrogation rooms, Hou Chuan greeted him and then there was no further movement.

"Miss Meng, this way." After walking to the end of the corridor, Hou Chuan pointed to the door on the left and turned to speak to her.

Meng Sheng smiled slightly at him, opened the door and went inside. Inside stood a middle-aged man and a woman in her thirties with long, wavy hair.

They don't look like police officers.

Hearing the door open, they all turned to look at the entrance.

Hou Chuan first greeted them, "Chief Zhang, Consultant Yi, this is Ms. Meng, the person involved in Ning Weiwei's case. Ms. Meng, this is our branch captain and our criminal investigation branch's psychological consultant."

"Hello." Meng Sheng smiled gently.

After exchanging greetings, both sides looked toward the interrogation room behind the one-way glass.

In the interrogation room, Chen Ye sat with another young police officer, while Cheng Jie sat in the interrogation chair.

She had only seen Cheng Jie's figure in the dashcam before. At that time, Cheng Jie was dressed in all black, and his head and face were covered up completely, so she could not see his true face at all.

But now that I actually see it, she frowned slightly.

It wasn't that she was prejudiced against people's appearance, but she felt a severe psychological discomfort at just one glance.

He had two scars on his face, one long and one short, on his lower right jawline. His face was covered in pockmarks and pits, and his eyes were downward-facing with the whites of his eyes showing. Just looking at him was quite unsettling.

Yi Jun noticed her expression, smiled, and said, "He is relaxed now, and his speech is still logical, which means that he had already thought about this before he was arrested, and he is not afraid of being arrested."

The squad leader standing to the side snorted coldly, "Of course he's not afraid of being caught. He was imprisoned for six years for murder when he was 14, and more than two years ago, he was detained for one year and eight months for assault. He was only released four months ago. Coming to this place is like a daily routine for him."

Yi Jun had previously conducted a psychological profile of Cheng Jie, and the results were largely accurate.

Abandoned by his parents as a child due to his ugliness, he grew up in an orphanage, where he was ostracized and isolated. He was not well-educated, had an inferiority complex and a dark nature, and felt that the whole world owed him something. At the age of 14, he killed someone in a fit of rage after being insulted.

After being released from prison, he was looked down upon because of his appearance and couldn't find a job. He begged for a while and took any job he could find to survive, as long as he was paid enough. Later, the owner of a car repair shop took pity on him and let him work there. He worked there honestly for a few years, but was later fired and went back to his old job.
