Chapter 484 Mild Depression

Looking at his dejected expression, Yi Junzhen hesitated for a moment, then replied in a light voice, "Somatic reactions, such as anxiety, insomnia, and pain to the point of needing to take large amounts of sedatives, can even lead to broken heart syndrome and cardiovascular problems in severe cases. She probably had mild depression for a long time due to excessive psychological pressure, but it was discovered late. It's like there was a barrier, but the gravity was too great, and the barrier naturally shattered."

“I can introduce you to a senior psychotherapist. Psychological intervention should be done as early as possible. Even if she is in a coma and not conscious, environmental intervention and auditory intervention are equally important. After she wakes up, have a psychiatrist do a mental status assessment for her.”

Pei Sui closed his eyes, trying to calm the complex and turbulent emotions in his heart.

Every word Yi Jun said was like a huge character slamming into his nerves, which were already on the verge of collapse.

Her statement, "I had mild depression before," made him feel so guilty and remorseful that he wanted to beat his chest and stamp his feet in despair.

He didn't notice at all.

When did it start?

When her mother passed away, when she discovered that Shang Boyu was having an affair with Ning Weiwei, when her respected mother-in-law was actually using her, when she learned the truth about her mother's car accident last month, or when her father was in mortal danger and suffered a stroke.

These various events, like mountains, weighed heavily on Meng Sheng's thin back.

Yet she always manages to smile, her eyes still radiant with light and tenderness.

Chen Ye knew he was upset, so she patted his shoulder and said, "Don't think too badly about the outcome. Maybe she'll wake up tomorrow... oh, tonight?"

Pei Sui opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but his throat felt like it was blocked by cotton, and he couldn't say anything.

Chen Ye sighed silently, "Go in and see her first. She really needs your company right now. We need to go to the traffic police station first. Don't worry about this case, I will do my best."

Without waiting for Pei Sui's response, he and Yi Jun left the hospital.

Pei Sui slowly opened his eyes and walked heavily into the ward.

Meng Sheng lay quietly on the pure white hospital bed. Her once bright face was now as white as a flower petal wet with rain, lacking vitality. Her long eyelashes cast two fragile shadows, and even her once cherry-colored lips were now just a dry white.

Pei Sui felt a pang of pain in his heart. He walked to the edge of the bed, took her cold hand in his, and leaned down to kiss the back of her hand. His voice was hoarse, with a hint of unbearable sobs.

"Didn't you say you'd pick me up from the airport a couple of days ago? I'm back now, and you still haven't come to pick me up. You're just lying here ignoring me and won't even give me a hug."

"Didn't you say we'd go eat curry udon, tempura eel rice, and tonkatsu rice together when I got back? You said you wanted to order three servings, that you wanted to eat them all. I said okay, give me the ones you can't finish, I'll eat them for you."

"Meng Sheng, you broke your promise."

That day, he sat by the hospital bed for a full five hours, talking to Meng Sheng a lot, but he couldn't quite remember what they talked about. He just said whatever came to mind, and by the end, his voice was hoarse and his lips were chapped before he finally fell asleep on the edge of the bed.

At 6:30 the next morning, he was woken up by the nurse. He rubbed his throbbing temples and focused intently on remembering the nurse's instructions.

Shen Qingyan arrived just after seven o'clock.

He frowned as he looked at Pei Sui's haggard appearance. "You look worse than someone lying in a hospital bed. Don't collapse, you're the only one left for her for now."

Here, I knew you wouldn't eat on your own, so I brought you some food. Eat first. Give her time, don't rush her. She's unconscious right now, and her emotions are processing slowly. If you continue like this, you won't help her; you'll only harm her.

Pei Sui was taken aback, but was ultimately swayed by Shen Qingyan's last words.

He took the bag and thanked Shen Qingyan.

Shen Qingyan sat down beside him and ate with him. "The soundproofing in this ward is not very good, so it's not suitable for Meng Sheng to recuperate. I had someone open a ward on the top floor. After she gets her injection and completes her basic check-up this morning, we'll move her up there."

"Okay, that's exactly what I was planning to do."

He had originally planned to change her to a different ward that morning.

After breakfast, Shen Qingyan left. Pei Sui filled a basin with hot water and wiped Meng Sheng down first. After the nurse came in again to draw two tubes of blood, put an IV drip on Meng Sheng, and left, he took out his phone and dialed Xu Jinmin's number.

He didn't have Meng Shixu's contact information either, but given how much the Xu family doted on Meng Sheng, it was only right that he tell them.

As for Meng Chengli, he couldn't tell her. He had to keep it a secret no matter what. Meng Chengli's condition had finally improved, and he couldn't afford such bad news. Otherwise, Meng Sheng would still be worried when she woke up.

When Xu Jinmin received the call, she was just about to go to the company with Xu Fengyun. Upon hearing the news, they were shocked. After their initial surprise, the three of them rushed to the south of the city without saying a word.

On the way, Xu Jinmin didn't care about jet lag and called Meng Shixu directly to tell him that Meng Sheng was unconscious. However, they were too anxious to ask Pei Sui about the specific reasons and could only find out in person when they arrived at the hospital.

The car drove fast, and we arrived at the hospital in less than two hours.

When they went up, they happened to see Meng Sheng being transferred to a new ward. When Lou Shumin saw Meng Sheng lying on the hospital bed, tears immediately fell down her face, and she touched Meng Sheng's face with trembling hands.

"Sheng... Sheng Sheng, what's wrong with you? Quickly... get up and tell your aunt, did someone bully you? Your aunt asked you... your brother to help you bully them back."

Pei Sui, with a somber expression, stepped forward and greeted him in a hoarse voice.

Seeing that there were doctors and nurses around, Xu Fengyun changed the subject and asked, "Where are you going?"

"The downstairs area is not suitable for rest and recuperation; you should be moved to an upstairs ward."

Xu Fengyun nodded and stepped forward to pull Lou Shumin aside, saying, "We can talk about it after we take Shengsheng back to her ward."

Lou Shumin wiped away her tears, held Meng Sheng's hand tightly, and went to the top floor together.

The ward is a large suite, with a separate room for accompanying family members. The living room and dining room are separate, and the kitchen is also available for cooking.

After the medical staff left, Pei Sui said to them, "Uncle, let's talk outside. The psychologist said that although she is currently in a coma, she still has hearing. She can sense what we say and the emotions we express, and this will affect her as well."

Xu Fengyun understood and nodded quickly. He then pulled Lou Shumin to the living room, and Xu Jinmin closed the door behind them.
