Chapter 513 Incurably Stupid

The police station and the criminal investigation team are in the same area, but have different jurisdictions. When Meng Sheng was brought over to give a statement, she did not expect to run into Chen Ye.

She smiled awkwardly and raised her hand to say, "Hi, Captain Chen, long time no see."

Chen Ye was somewhat bewildered when he saw her, another woman with injuries on her face and looking somewhat disheveled, and a man and a woman with handprints on their faces being led into the police station by four police officers.

"What's going on...?" He circled around them, then settled back on Meng Sheng. "What's happening? Did a group fight break out?"

Meng Sheng glanced at Gu Qinglian beside her and said coolly, "Oh, someone came to the art museum to cause trouble and even hit people. We're here to make a statement."

Chen Ye took a few steps closer. "Are you alright?"

"It's alright." Meng Sheng waved her hand. "Let's go take our statements first, we'll talk later."

Chen Ye nodded. "Okay."

Watching them go inside, Chen Ye picked up the phone and called Pei Sui. "Old Pei, did you know your wife's in jail?"

Pei Sui was taken aback, his brows furrowing. "What? What happened?"

"Meng Sheng didn't call?" Chen Ye clicked his tongue. "She said someone caused trouble at the art museum, and they came to take a statement, but I saw that many of them had injuries on their faces, so it must have been a fight. I'll go find out the details."

Is it serious?

Pei Sui immediately dropped his work, pointed to two documents in front of Nie Han on his desk, gestured to them, then grabbed his car keys and quickly left the office.

Based on the police's statement and surveillance video, Gu Qinglian was detained for three days for disorderly conduct, fined 800 yuan, and ordered to pay Qin Yong and Huang Ying 12,000 yuan each for mental distress, lost wages, medical expenses, and transportation costs.

Gu Qinglian was furious and extremely indignant. Pointing at the two policemen, she said arrogantly, "Were you both bribed by Meng Sheng? This is not fair. They also hit me. Why should I be fined, locked up, and have to pay compensation? They should be the ones paying me compensation."

"Oh, I see. When he came in just now, Meng Sheng even called out to Captain Chen. So, you have connections at the police station that's why you called the police, causing them to abuse their power. I'm going to sue you, report you, and expose you!"

"Meng Sheng, you have some nerve! You actually dared to bribe the police. No wonder you're so fearless. I'll make everyone see your filthy face. You're utterly despicable and shameless!"

The two policemen were speechless as they listened to her dog barking.

This woman is really noisy.

They're even more talkative and fussy than the aunties and grandmas at the market.

It's so noisy!

From the moment she entered, Gu Qinglian's mouth never stopped. She kept babbling on and on, either cursing this or talking about that. She was so busy that she drank two or three cups of water.

She speaks in a domineering manner, as if anyone owes her hundreds of thousands of dollars and is her slave, entitled to obey her orders.

Anyone who hears this argument would be unhappy.

Everyone has a problem with her, but she doesn't seem to care.

They're incredibly arrogant and haughty, their eyes practically glued to the top of their heads.

It's as if the police station is run by the Gu family, and that the Gu family pays the salaries of the police officers.

If it weren't for the inappropriate occasion and the wrong status, some hot-tempered people would have wanted to slap her twice.

Clearly, the beating at the art museum was too lenient; it didn't make her realize the seriousness of the matter at all.

That's utterly hopeless.

One of the policemen, unable to contain himself any longer, slammed his hand on the table and said angrily, "Miss Gu, you can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want. You say we're helping Miss Meng target you, you need to provide evidence."

In what way did we not follow the rules and regulations? Why don't you reflect on where you went wrong in this matter? You just keep pushing the responsibility onto others. Do you really think this city belongs to your Gu family, that you can control everything?

No sooner had the police officer finished speaking than the interrogation room door was suddenly pushed open, and a clear, indifferent, deep voice followed.

According to Article 246 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China and relevant judicial provisions, fabricating facts and spreading rumors against specific individuals constitutes the crime of defamation, which shall be punished with imprisonment of not more than three years, detention, public surveillance or deprivation of political rights.

If Ms. Gu cannot produce the evidence you claim, I will formally sue you as Meng Sheng's lawyer. I will make you pay for all the defamation you have caused her, the harm you have done to her, and any negative impact you have had on the art museum.

Everything you say here today will be used against you in court, and I will get a copy of the video footage from the police afterwards.

Gu Qinglian was stunned, her eyes widening in surprise. "A-Sui, you... how could you..."

Meng Sheng was also taken aback. She walked up to him and asked, "Why are you here?"

Pei Sui lowered her eyelids, and her previously cold gaze softened and became helpless as it met her face. "Chen Ye called me."

Meng Sheng suddenly realized, and smiled, "I'm fine, I just came to give a statement. It's not my fault. Look, she's causing trouble at the art museum."

She leaned closer to Pei Sui and whispered, "She's trying to avenge her sister, who was ganged up on by us."

Pei Sui glanced indifferently at Gu Qinglian's scratched face, the corners of his lips curling up almost imperceptibly, and squeezed her palm, "Next time something like this happens, you must call me, understand?"

"Okay, I got it."

Pei Sui took her hand and, not wanting to waste any more time here, said softly, "Now that the statement has been taken, let's go."

"Um."

The two left the interrogation room without even glancing at Gu Qinglian again. No matter how much Gu Qinglian screamed behind them, once the door closed, they couldn't hear anything anymore.

As they walked out, Qin Yong and Huang Ying had just finished giving their statements.

After exchanging greetings, Meng Sheng told them to rest for the day and return to the art museum tomorrow.

The police supervised Gu Qinglian as she transferred the compensation money to them.

The two thanked them and left.

Just then, Chen Ye walked over from the Criminal Investigation Division and waved to them, "All done?"

"Okay, all done." Meng Sheng nodded with a smile. "It's almost lunchtime. Are you free at noon? Captain Chen, shall I treat you to lunch? Last time I fainted, I was really grateful to you and Consultant Yi. By the way, is Consultant Yi here? Let's have lunch together."

"Sure, I'll give her a call."

Chen Ye called Yi Jun, and after about three or four minutes, Yi Jun arrived.

We all had work in the afternoon, so we didn't go far. We chose a private restaurant near the police station. Although the restaurant's environment wasn't as luxurious and elegant as those high-end restaurants, it wasn't bad either. The main reason was that Chen Ye said that all the dishes here were his own inventions and creations, and you couldn't find them anywhere else.

Moreover, they all tasted great.

After ordering, the group started chatting, and Chen Ye also took the opportunity to tell them about Cheng Jie's recent situation.
