Chapter 138 The Mess

Jiang Fulu and Chen were arguing with each other. After a few rounds, Chen was defeated and stared dimly at the feather duster in the corner.

Jiang Fulu's face trembled as he complained, "Madam, every time I can't convince you, you resort to violence!"

In front of his daughter, he didn't even give any face to the head of the family.

Jiang Fulu said this as he moved towards Jiang Yuzhu without leaving any trace.

"Since Master knows what's going on, why is he so unwilling to be humble in his words?"

Chen asked back in embarrassment. She used to be a gentle person. After being married for many years, the peaceful life in her heart had been completely worn away by Jiang Fulu's frequent annoyances.

Since feather dusters work, why bother talking nonsense?

The couple glared at each other, but there was no sense of tension at all.

Jiang Yuzhu watched the excitement for a while before changing the subject: "Mother, I heard Princess Yutan is here, why is she nowhere to be seen?"

"The princess and your second brother are practicing martial arts in the backyard garden."

Chen mentioned Jiang Huaiqing and said with relief, "Over the years, your second brother has traveled all over the country for business and has given up a lot. Since he is obsessed with martial arts, why not just let him be."

Jiang Yuzhu unconditionally supports Jiang Huaiqing's preferences, but she still feels distressed every time she sees bruises on her second brother's face.

Chen shook her head and laughed, "Yuzhu, men should be raised in rough conditions, weathering the storms before they can become the backbone of a family. It's different for us women. When the storm comes, we just need to take shelter under the eaves."

"Yuzhu, your second brother only suffered superficial injuries. How is that any more serious than Daddy's internal injuries?"

Heart disease is an internal injury. Jiang Fulu covered his chest and pretended to be sick, occasionally raising his eyelids to look at Chen.

Chen twitched her lips, stood up and said, "Yuzhu, you stay with the patient. I'll go to the kitchen to check the ingredients and make a few dishes that the patient likes."

After saying that, Chen pulled the curtain and went out. Jiang Fulu crossed his legs and hummed a little tune. There is always a conqueror, and he just liked people like Chen who had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

Only the father and daughter were left in the room, and Jiang Yuzhu explained her purpose.

Jiang Fulu put away his leisurely look, sat up straight, and frowned as he listened: "Yuzhu, the Xie family is a prominent family in Jiangnan, and their power is comparable to that of the Xuan family. The emperor specially placed the third daughter of the Su family in the Xie Mansion. It seems that he had this intention for a long time."

The Xie family and the Xuan family fought against each other to ensure that the emperor's position was secure.

"The Xuan family is extremely ambitious, and with the Queen Mother firmly entrenched in the harem, she's fully capable of supporting my family..."

Jiang Fulu closed his eyes and fell into deep thought.

The atmosphere in the room was surprisingly quiet, so quiet that the sound of the magpie flapping its wings on the eaves could be heard very clearly.

Jiang Yuzhu did not urge him, but lowered her head to sip her tea.

After about half an hour, Jiang Fulu slowly stood up and said, "Yuzhu, Dad understands what you mean, but we can't take away the credit."

Jiang Yuzhu was not surprised at all. In fact, she had already noticed something on the way to Jiang Mansion.

"Dad, there are too many twists and turns involved. Our Jiang family is at the stage of expanding its wings. It is really not a good time to become hostile to the Xuan family when we are still young."

Whether to get involved depends on interests.

If the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, there is no need to take the risk.

However, the Jiang family should have taken sides earlier instead of playing double-dealing.

"Father, although the Emperor is tolerant, he cannot tolerate any injustice."

The fact that Xiao She had not appointed a queen for more than three years after he ascended the throne was enough to show his resistance to the empress dowager's appointment of a new queen.

The emperor was unwilling to be a puppet and tried every means to cut off the Xuan family's thoughts.

Whether Xuan Yao would be crowned as queen was a game between the emperor and the Xuan family.

Jiang Fulu looked at Jiang Yuzhu with admiration and sighed, "My daughter has grown up and knows how to think about her father."

As long as the Jiang family and the Xie family are related by marriage, the Queen Mother will always be on guard against the Jiang family, and the Jiang family will sooner or later confront the Xuan family, which is inevitable.

"Except Yuanhe, no one has the ability to redress the Su family."

Jiang Fulu's connections are in the Ministry of Personnel, and he almost never interacts with the officials in the Ministry of Works, so he really can't take care of such a wide range of things.

Jiang Fulu thought for a while and said, "Yuzhu, go back to Xie's house and pack a few sets of clothes. Then move back home and stay out of the spotlight."

If Xie Zhao takes over the mess, he will inevitably offend the Xuan family.

The Xuan family is best at secretly making trouble, and Jiang Fulu is worried that his daughter will be implicated.

"Dad, wait a few days and see. Cousin Shen is getting married, and the house can't be left without someone to take care of it."

Jiang Yuzhu thought that what her father Jiang Fulu said made sense, but she didn't like to hide and only liked head-on confrontation.

Xuan Yao has a strong enemy like Wei Jing, so she has no time to cause trouble for the time being.

Before dinner, Jiang Yuzhu brought a few side dishes from the Jiang Mansion and went straight to the Jingzhao Yin Yamen.

At sunset, the breeze flows, mixed with a hint of jasmine fragrance, which makes people feel peaceful.

In the study room at the back of the government office, the red windows were half open.

Xie Zhao was looking through the account books left in the Sucheng government office. Hearing footsteps, Xie Zhao stood up, staggered, and fell back into the chair with a pale face.

"Madam, cough cough!"

Xie Zhao was about to speak when he was interrupted by a dull cough from his chest.

Jiang Yuzhu hurried forward to support him, and said with a hint of complaint: "Yuanhe, we agreed to take a few days off, why are you here again?"

Jiang Yuzhu had skipped Xie Zhao to report Su Wanqing's request for help, in order to claim credit. She felt somewhat guilty, and now was the perfect time to make amends: "I just didn't want you to work any more, so I came back to my parents' home to ask for Daddy's help."

After saying this, Jiang Yuzhu lowered her eyes and said dejectedly, "It's a pity that there are too many things involved behind the scenes, and Daddy is powerless to do anything."

Xie Zhao casually put on a white coat and let his hair, which was tied up with a jade hairpin, fall down to hide his slightly pale face.
