Chapter 109: Very angry, and also very scared.

Xu Yan was genuinely disgusted.

Especially when Wang Ermazi grinned at her with his yellow teeth, she felt that if she didn't have a good digestive system, she would have thrown up her dinner from the night before.

Xie Zhuo's face immediately darkened.

He went straight to the kitchen, grabbed a fire poker without even checking if it was covered in soot, and started whipping Wang Ermazi with it.

This was the first time Xu Yan had ever seen him lose his temper.

It's a bit scary.

His handsome face was cold, his lips were taut, his brows were furrowed, and his eyes were half-closed. When he pulled his hand down, Xu Yan could tell that he was going all out.

Sure enough, as soon as he was slapped, Wang Ermazi shot forward halfway like a rocket with a ignition on its rear end.

He let out a scream.

Then, he began to curse Xie Zhuo.

The moment the swear word left his mouth, Xie Zhuo caught up and slapped him again on the hand that was covering his buttocks.

Xu Yan saw that Wang Ermazi's palms were swollen at a visible speed, and the thickness of the fire poker could be clearly seen.

"Thank you, Lao San!" Wang Ermazi called out again.

Xie Zhuo struck him squarely on the thigh with the stick.

At first, Xu Yan found Wang Ermazi disgusting, but when he saw Xie Zhuo kick him to the ground and raise his fist to smash his face, he still went over to stop him.

Chen Lihua and Xu Cangsong had been there for about ten days and had always felt that Xie Zhuo was a really good guy to their daughter, very good at handling things, and a really good cook. The only downside was...

Although he's big and strong, he seems to have a bit too good a temper.

Basically, whatever Xu Yan says goes. Even if Xu Yan is just teasing him, he will obediently do as she says.

When Xie Zhuo first arrived, Chen Lihua and Xu Cangsong looked down on their son-in-law. They thought Xie Zhuo was a country bumpkin with no family and seemed to have a bad temper. Xu Yan, on the other hand, was a pushover. They wondered how the two of them could possibly get along.

But I changed my opinion slightly that same day.

I never expected that my daughter's personality would change so much after not seeing her for half a year.

After these few days, the two of them had completely accepted Xie Zhuo, and when they saw him being "bullied" by Xu Yan, they would even speak up for him.

This is the same person who is now clenching his fist and fiercely punching another person. When Xu Cangsong tried to pull him away, he almost couldn't stop him.

Chen Lihua watched in horror. She had thought he was a little lamb, but it turned out he was only a lamb in front of her daughter. Once you crossed a line, he would turn into a wolf.

Chen Lihua wasn't sure if her description was accurate, but when Xie Zhuo carried Wang Ermazi toward the gate, she didn't let Xu Yan follow.

Xie Zhuo's expression remained cold throughout. As Wang Ermazi struggled to walk towards Doctor Qian, he stood at the door, staring at him.

Fearing he might not be able to resist following them and doing something else, Chen Lihua pulled him by the arm and led him into the yard.

"They're gone?" Xu Yan was sitting under the pear tree. He watched them come in, glanced at the gate, but didn't see anything because Xu Cangsong had closed the gate behind him.

"Ah," Xu Cangsong responded.

Then, looking at Xu Yan and then at Xie Zhuo who remained silent, they finally went with Chen Lihua to get vegetables from the basket on their bicycles and went into the kitchen.

They were left the space.

Da Bao and Xiao Bao weren't there; they went to Li Aihua's house to play with Xiao Shuanzi, so the whole yard was quiet and there wasn't a sound.

Xu Yan stared at Xie Zhuo for a few seconds.

Xie Zhuo lowered his eyelids, seemingly lost in thought, his eyelashes casting a small shadow beneath his eyes.

Xu Yan glanced towards the kitchen, then stood up and pulled him into the house.

After entering the house, Xie Zhuo remained silent, and Xu Yan, without saying a word, walked over and casually turned on the radio on the table.

Xie Zhuo raised his eyes and glanced at her.

Then, just as the radio started playing, Xu Yan suddenly spoke up, "Are you still angry?"

The radio was turned up a bit too loud, and Xie Zhuo almost couldn't hear her.

After a half-second pause, he finally discerned Xu Yan's words from the other voices and slowly shook his head.

"What happened?" Xu Yan walked over.

Xie Zhuo didn't say anything.

"Hey, Xie Baobei, you can't do this," Xu Yan leaned closer to the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), while Xie Zhuo leaned against the edge of the kang and looked at her.

“You have to say what’s on your mind,” Xu Yan said, looking at him. “If you don’t tell me and keep making me guess, the consequences could be very serious if I guess wrong.”

The radio was playing Peking Opera, so loudly that it could probably be heard all over the courtyard, but Xie Zhuo felt uneasy about the quiet.

Are you angry?

They're definitely angry.

But when asked to elaborate on who he was angry with, he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

It's definitely not Xu Yan; she has absolutely nothing to do with this.

It wasn't Chen Lihua and Xu Cangsong either; their attitudes were very clear, and recently he could sense that the elderly couple had accepted him.

He hadn't felt this way about his parents being around for a long time, and lately he'd even been reluctant to let them go back.

Who are you angry at?

Wang Ermazi's?

Or perhaps you're angry at yourself.

The former got beaten up by him and will probably avoid him from now on; the latter…

When his family members passed away one after another, leaving only him and his two young children, many people in the village said that he was a cursed star, that his fate was too strong, and that he would bring death to those around him.

To be honest, he was somewhat affected as well.

I feel like I might really be unlucky.

So he never got married in his previous life, but in this life... he admits that when Xu Yan said she wanted to marry him in front of everyone that day, he suddenly felt a little tempted.
