When Xu Yan and Li Aihua returned to the entrance of Xiao Xue's tailor shop, it was almost noon. Just as Li Aihua had said, there were quite a few people looking for Xiao Xue's tailor shop.
Although material resources were scarce, and many families only had a new set of clothes made every two or three years, there were still many people outside the tailor shop.
Li Aihua pointed to the small wooden sign standing by the wall and said, "This is Xiao Xue's Tailor Shop."
Xu Yan glanced at the small wooden sign twice.
The sign was quite simple, like a piece of wood picked up from the roadside, with the three characters "Tailor Shop" scrawled on it.
Without a junior high or high school diploma, you probably wouldn't be able to understand his cursive writing.
"I didn't expect this tailor Xue to look so refined," Xu Yan said, looking at the wooden board, "actually..."
"Actually what?" someone asked.
"Actually," Xu Yan was about to say when she realized something was amiss. She looked up and saw the person in question standing calmly at the door, watching her with an air of nonchalance.
Xu Yan: "..."
“Actually, he’s quite refined,” Xu Yan said aloud.
Xue Ning smiled.
After Xu Yan entered the shop, he realized that Li Aihua was right; the person's craftsmanship was indeed excellent, and the clothes were made with great care.
"What kind do you want? Adult or child? Have you taken your measurements?" Xue Ning sat on the stool next to the sewing machine, holding a notebook and writing a date on it.
“There are both children’s and adults’ bags,” Xu Yan said, turning his gaze away and taking out the cloth from the basket.
Pointing to the fabric with Da Bao and Xiao Bao's names written on it, she told them the size, and then took out the fabric she bought for Xie Zhuo and told him the size as well.
Judging from what she said, it was obviously a man's size. Xue Ning tilted her head and paused for a few seconds before writing it down in her notebook.
“And this piece of fabric,” Xu Yan pointed to another piece of light linen brown fabric, “I’ll make two pieces, one with the size I just gave you, and the other with my size.”
Xue Ning paused again.
He glanced at the girl in front of him again.
She's young, but very pretty; you can tell she didn't grow up in the countryside. And those two outfits...
Xu Yan had no idea what the person in front of her was thinking. Her gaze shifted again, and when she saw the clock hanging on the wall, her eyes paused.
It's almost 11:30.
It was cloudy and there was no sun today, so they didn't have much time to shop around. They didn't expect it to be so late.
"How many days will it take to finish?" Xu Yan asked.
"Huh?" Xue Ning almost didn't react, and coughed lightly before saying, "There are quite a few orders, so it'll take about two weeks."
Xu Yan nodded, didn't say much, paid the deposit, and left with Li Aihua.
"They've all gone far away," a voice suddenly came from behind. Xue Ning turned her gaze away and glanced at the person who spoke.
"Are you...?"
“No,” Xue Ning frowned, “Don’t talk nonsense.”
"I'm talking nonsense?" The young girl's voice suddenly rose. "Your eyes have been glued to her the whole time. Since you came in, you've looked outside at least four or five times, just waiting for her to come!"
Xu Yan was unaware of what was happening behind him.
She and Li Aihua bought some more things and rushed home at noon.
Xie Zhuo sat curiously at the gate, while Da Bao and Xiao Bao squatted beside him playing with small wooden sticks.
Upon seeing her arrive, they rushed towards her from a great distance.
"Third Aunt!"
"Third Aunt, you're back!"
Looking at her two clean and adorable children, Xu Yan remembered the dirty child she had met that morning, and took out two pieces of candy from her pocket and handed them to them.
"Did you listen to your third uncle this morning?" Xu Yan asked, leading his child home by the hand.
Xie Zhuo also stood up from the stool and came over to take the basket from her back.
Xu Yan smiled at him.
Her eyebrows curved upwards, and her long, dark eyelashes curled up. A strand of hair was blown by the wind to the corner of her mouth, and before she could brush it away, Xie Zhuo tucked it behind her ear.
“I’m back,” Xie Zhuo said.
“Yes, I’m back,” Xu Yan said.
For lunch today, Xie Zhuo cooked corn and also made mung bean soup using the same method Xu Yan used last time. Finally, he steamed a few buns made from a mixture of wheat and water, served with a pickled cucumber and some chili sauce.
It's very simple.
It was also very plentiful.
The mung bean soup had been cooled in advance, so you could just pick up the bowl and drink it.
When Xu Yan finished washing her hands and sat down at the table to drink soup, she realized that she had burned her tongue and felt a strange sensation in her mouth while drinking the soup.
"What's wrong? Doesn't it taste good?" Xie Zhuo noticed her unusual behavior immediately.
"I burned my tongue while eating," Xu Yan frowned slightly, feeling a bit uncomfortable. "My tongue feels numb."
"Let me see," Xie Zhuo said, his brows furrowing.
Before Xu Yan could react, he grabbed her chin.
"Open your mouth," Xie Zhuo said.
Xu Yan: "..."
Seeing that she still didn't move, Xie Zhuo gently pinched her again, "I won't do anything else, I'll see how serious it is."
"?"
Xu Yan discovered that ever since that night, this man's shamelessness had grown exponentially, and he really could say anything.
"Is Third Aunt in a lot of pain?" Da Bao and Xiao Bao asked with concern.
"It doesn't hurt," Xu Yan raised her hand and patted Xie Zhuo's hand, then stepped back a little. "It was burned this morning, but it's much better now."
After saying that, he remembered that he had also brought them fried dough cakes, so he stood up and went to get them.
Xie Zhuo was still frowning, looking a little unhappy.
Xu Yan glanced at Da Bao and Xiao Bao, who were shoveling oil cakes onto the surface, and then reached out to pull Xie Zhuo, saying, "Come with me for a moment."
