It snowed for several days.
In the past few days, several other students from the Qingshan Brigade have also received their admission notices.
Everyone in the educated youth settlement signed up for the college entrance examination, but only Ye Wei and Yu Wenwen received admission notices. Yu Wenwen was admitted to a junior college in her hometown, while Ye Wei was admitted to a university in a remote area.
Xu Yan heard from Li Aihua that Zhou Jingjing went to the commune and made a scene, refusing to believe that Yu Wenwen could pass the college entrance exam while she failed to pass any exams.
“The commune leaders were all green with anger,” Li Aihua said. “I heard that during the scuffle, they almost tore up Han Xiaoyu’s admission notice.”
"What does this have to do with Han Xiaoyu?" Xu Yan was knitting a pretty little sweater for Kaixin when she heard this and looked up at Li Aihua.
“It’s nothing,” Li Aihua said, watching her hand movements. “It’s just that Han Xiaoyu was unlucky. He ran into Zhou Jingjing when he went to pick up his admission notice, and she insisted on seeing if it was his.”
Xu Yan nodded.
“I heard that Han Xiaoyu did quite well on the exam,” Li Aihua lowered her voice, as if afraid that someone would hear her, “and it seems that he and Sun Jiarou are really going to break up. Someone saw him and Ye Wei pulling and tugging at each other by the river.”
Xu Yan paused, holding the wooden needle. "Sun Guoan and the others agreed?"
“What can we do if we disagree?” Li Aihua continued in a low voice, “Sun Jiarou has gone mad.”
"What?"
Xu Yan was completely unable to continue knitting and looked at Li Aihua with confusion and shock.
“I heard it from some of the aunties who were close to Chen Guizhen before,” Li Aihua said. “They said that Sun Jiarou has been acting crazy ever since she lost her child some time ago.”
"One minute she's saying she got into the best university, the next she's saying Han Xiaoyu is so rich and will be the richest man in the country in the future, and she's always fantasizing about having two children."
"Anyway, she's quite insane; Sun Guoan is even planning to ask Dr. Qian to come and take a look at her..."
Li Aihua told her story captivatingly, but Xu Yan remained silent, staring blankly for a few seconds before continuing with his work.
Time flies. This year's New Year is just around the corner in February, when the Spring Festival is about to begin. Last year, Xu Yan and Xie Zhuo planned to go to City B for the New Year, but because Lin Dong's injury had not fully healed, they decided to stay at home instead.
Lunar New Year's Eve happened to be Lin Dong's birthday. On that day, before dawn, Xu Yan heard the kids making a huge fuss in their room.
Xu Yan buried her face in Xie Zhuo's chest, her voice still sleepy, "When you get up later, go check if the roof of the south room is still there. It looks like the three kids are about to tear it down."
Xie Zhuo wasn't fully awake either. He subconsciously responded and then lowered his head to kiss Xu Yan's hair.
Xu Yan closed her eyes, and just as she was about to fall asleep, Xie Zhuo lowered his head again and touched her earlobe with his lips.
Then comes the back of the neck.
clavicle.
As his hand began to lift the hem of her clothes and slide upwards, Xu Yan finally regained some of her senses.
She raised her hand and pressed down on someone's large hand. Xie Zhuo's fingers moved, and a tingling sensation came from his soft, warm chest.
Xu Yan: "..."
When Xu Yan noticed that Xie Zhuo's pajama pants were getting tighter, she gave him a look that was hard to describe. "He didn't go to sleep until 2 a.m. last night."
"What can I do?" Xie Zhuo said innocently. "It's completely beyond my control. It just..."
Before Xie Zhuo could finish speaking, Xu Yan slapped him across the mouth, saying, "Shut up!"
After Da Bao, Xiao Bao, and Lin Dong got dressed and got off the kang (a heated brick bed), they didn't go to Xu Yan's room to bother them. Instead, they sat around the iron stove and read their lessons for a while, then stood by the wall and compared their heights.
For now, Da Bao is slightly taller than Xiao Bao, and Xiao Bao is about the same height as Lin Dong.
Lin Dong disagreed, insisting that his leg was still broken and hadn't fully healed. He claimed that once it was healed and he stood up straight, he would definitely be taller than Da Bao.
Da Bao didn't believe it, but still ate an extra fried egg during his meal.
He heard from his third uncle that he loved eating fried eggs when he was a child, which is why he was able to grow so tall.
Xu Yan and Xie Zhuo also gave Lin Dong a birthday gift according to the same standards as Da Bao and Xiao Bao's birthdays, and of course, they also gave gifts to Da Bao and Xiao Bao.
The three kids were happy together for a long time.
This good mood lasted until after the New Year. Xu Yan was going to City B, but she hadn't finished dealing with her business with Fang Xia. She wanted to take care of things here before she had to pack her things.
When they went out, the three kids insisted on coming along with her. Xu Yan didn't want to bring them, partly because of the cold weather, and partly because although Lin Dong could walk, there were still many things to be careful about. She was worried that the journey would be long and uncomfortable for him.
But the three kids were so excited that Xu Yan didn't want to dampen their spirits, so he ended up asking Xie Zhuo to go with them.
At least when Lin Dong really can't walk anymore, he can carry him on his back.
The five of them, plus Kaixin, who was peeking out from under Xie Zhuo's cotton coat, went to town together. When they were almost at the tailor shop, they met a man and a woman.
The woman was holding a child in her arms, and the two of them were arguing loudly. Xu Yan glanced at them a few more times.
The boys following her also looked in that direction. It wasn't until Lin Dong suddenly changed his expression and gripped Xu Yan's shirt tightly that Xu Yan noticed something was wrong and looked down at him.
Lin Dong remained silent. Xiao Jun, who had recovered considerably over the past few months, was deathly pale, and his long, dark eyelashes could not conceal the fear in his eyes.
