Chapter 23 Dark Night, Shall We Kiss Again?
Upon hearing this, Lin Yiran became much more sober, and her blood began to flow.
She wanted to ask what happened.
But he didn't stop. He held her waist with one hand and supported her neck with the other, his eyes closed as he entwined himself with her tenderly.
He was enjoying himself, but Lin Yiran didn't share that feeling; she gently pushed him away.
Upon seeing this, Chen Si stopped what he was doing, his lips still pressed against her forehead, and asked breathlessly, "What's wrong?"
He seemed nonchalant, as if what he had just said was just an insignificant, ordinary remark.
Lin Yiran took a breath, not daring to look at him, and turned her head away, saying calmly, "You, you agree?"
Her slender white fingertips were still pressed against his chest. Chen Si looked down at her trembling fingertips and felt a tingling sensation run through his heart.
Then he looked up at her.
His deep black eyes softened slightly in the moonlight. The two were very close, so close that he could almost see the trembling of the fine hairs on her face.
At that moment, Chen Sihui suddenly had a feeling.
turn out to be……
So she gets nervous too.
Does that mean she actually cares a lot? Otherwise, why would she choose him? Why would she insist on going on a blind date with him?
She didn't say a word, and he calmed himself down again.
Chen Si didn't reply to her hastily. He leaned forward, pressing his body against hers, their chests close together. His chin rested on her shoulder and collarbone, and his deep, husky voice rang out: "No."
"I would never agree to this, even if you killed me."
He said with a smile, inhaling her fragrance, closing his eyes and speaking again, "Could you please take my side a little?"
Lin Yiran was held tightly by him, feeling the frequency of his breathing and the tone of his voice.
She turned her head slightly, looking at the back of his head, and said, "How should I side with you?"
She spoke earnestly, enunciating each word carefully.
Upon hearing this, Chen Si laughed heartily in her arms.
Lin Yiran looked at his actions with a blank expression and didn't know what to say.
After a while, he stopped laughing. He stood up and met her gaze, his dark eyes seeming to spark a fire in the darkness. He suppressed his anger and said in a low, lazy tone, "You're so cute, my wife."
His gaze was too direct, staring straight at her without any attempt to conceal it.
All the intense gazes were fixed on her.
Lin Yiran's face flushed slightly; she had a premonition that she was about to lose control.
So she steadied herself and asked, "How can I side with you?"
What did your godmother talk about with you?
She wondered what they had talked about that could make someone as proud as Chen Sihui become so broken, like a puppy about to be abandoned by its owner.
Seeing her curiosity, Chen Si leaned down and whispered something in her ear that was both playful and extremely dangerous.
He said, "Your godmother told me you weren't a legal professional before."
Chen Sihui clearly sensed that Lin Yiran paused for a moment after he said those words.
She was nervous.
Chen Si frowned, puzzled, and Zheng Jie ultimately said nothing to him.
She didn't reveal anything about her past.
I only gave him one piece of advice before he left.
She said, "There may still be many things I don't understand, so please bear with me."
Chen Si didn't quite understand why she had given him that final instruction. It sounded like she was pleading with him, like she was asking him to back down a bit, but...
The problem is that Zheng Jie was the one who initially came to power.
He couldn't understand it, but in the end he just turned around and agreed.
Even without her reminders, if he doesn't tolerate his wife, who will?
After Chen Si finished speaking, he gently lifted Lin Yiran's chin with his slender hand, making her look at him. The veins on the back of the man's fair hand were prominent.
His movements appeared forceful, but in reality, he was very careful with every step.
He dared not do anything, not even ask her the slightest thing that might offend her.
It was just to scare her.
He just loved seeing her nervous for him.
"What do you want to ask?" Lin Yiran looked at him with her clear, light eyes.
Chen Si frowned in displeasure and asked, "What are you willing to say?"
A hint of surprise flashed in Lin Yiran's eyes. She pushed his hand away and asked again, "Aren't you angry?"
Chen Si slowly withdrew his hand, which she had slapped away, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Why am I angry?"
What did you do to make me angry?
"What? You tricked me into marriage?" he teased her.
Lin Yiran was speechless for a moment. She sat up straight, leaning against the bay window wall, and slowly said, "Don't you think it's going too far for me to hide my past work?"
Chen Si shook his head.
"I understand that you kept it from me."
"but……"
Chen Si raised his peach blossom eyes and squinted at her: "You can't keep it from me forever."
Lin Yiran lowered her head and didn't reply.
"I'll talk to your godmother about it later. Don't worry, I won't make things difficult for you."
I will never make things difficult for you.
These words were so heavy that they made Lin Yiran want to tell him everything about her past, so heavy that she wanted to throw herself into his arms and cry her heart out.
Lin Yiran lowered her head, her eyes welling up with tears. She gritted her teeth, trying hard to hold back the tears.
Not receiving a reply, Chen Si leaned closer and gently stroked her face.
In that instant, Lin Yiran couldn't hold back anymore, and hot tears welled up in her eyes, dripping onto the back of his hand with a soft sound.
Chen Si was caught off guard by her tears. When the warm tears fell on his hand, he panicked.
He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly. He gently wiped away her tears and said softly, "Cry, cry if you're sad, don't hold it in."
"I'm right next to you, always next to you."
Lin Yiran looked down at the hand gently stroking her and couldn't help but cry.
He was too good to her, so good that she felt guilty.
She never expected to be so good to him.
Every time she cried out, Chen Si felt a sharp pang in his heart. He gritted his teeth and fixed his gaze on the moon hanging high in the sky outside the window.
He always felt that she shouldn't be like this.
Someone as outstanding as her should have grown up in the envious gaze of others, and should have lived an easy life from childhood to adulthood.
Instead of...
He looked at the person in his arms who was constantly convulsing.
Instead of having to be careful even when crying.
...
"So what exactly did your godmother say to you?" Lin Yiran asked him, her eyes red after crying.
Chen Sihui held the thermos he had brought from outside, his brow twitching slightly. He smiled and asked, "So curious?"
Lin Yiran nodded.
Chen Si replied with a sigh, "It's nothing. She said she doesn't like me, and then she told me to be nicer to you."
Lin Yiran breathed a sigh of relief after hearing his answer.
Chen Si handed her the hot water, leaned down next to her, and asked, "So, what kind of job did you do before?"
Lin Yiran no longer avoided him, and simply said, "Lawyer."
"Why didn't you want to say it before?"
"Because once this topic is brought up, it will never be avoided again."
Lin Yiran concealed the light in her eyes, tilted her head back and asked him, "If something you've worked hard for half your life to obtain abandons you, what would you do?"
She raised her head, her eyes red-rimmed, her fair and smooth skin flushed, but she gritted her teeth, her light-colored eyes filled with stubbornness and unwillingness.
"I……"
Chen Si couldn't answer the question; he thought he needed to think about it.
Lin Yiran didn't expect him to be able to hit her so quickly, so she looked away, took a sip of hot water, and slowly said, "I won't touch him again."
"Those who abandon me must bear the risk of abandoning me."
Lin Yiran said that, but Chen Si looked down at her expression, and actually...
She may not think that way.
It's just self-protection after a major blow.
She cannot reconcile with herself, and such things are difficult to reconcile with.
"You graduated from China University of Political Science and Law?"
Chen Si changed the subject. He wanted to know about her past, but not in a way that would deplete her power.
Lin Yiran nodded, regaining her composure.
"The scenery at China University of Political Science and Law is beautiful, and I've heard the food is good too. What's more, it's located in the city center, making it convenient to go out and have fun."
"right."
Lin Yiran countered, "How did you know?"
Chen Si replied: ...
Actually, Jiang Bin found out Lin Yiran studied there from the honor roll, and then searched for related information online, but...
Jiang Bin had never been there either.
I found it online.
Lin Yiran nodded and said nothing more.
Lin Yiran drank her water slowly, lost in thought. Chen Sihui remained silent, leaning against her and looking down at her.
After finishing her water, Lin Yiran naturally stood up and handed the glass to Chen Sihui.
Chen Si took it back.
"It's getting late, why don't you go to bed early?" Lin Yiran smiled and spoke to him.
"Also, I don't recommend drinking alcohol at night, as it can easily cause headaches," she kindly advised.
Chen Sihui sensed something was wrong, took a long stride to the right, and trapped Lin Yiran, who was about to leave, in his arms.
The two were standing too close, and Lin lost her balance and fell onto the soft cushions on the bay window.
Behind her were several empty wine glasses, and the strong smell of alcohol hit her so hard she couldn't handle it.
The woman's slender white hands gripped the soft cushions behind her, and she spoke in a trembling voice, "Is there anything else?"
After Chen Si pulled her into his arms, he bent his knees and put the thermos cup in his hand aside.
He moved closer to her, supporting her slender waist, exhaled, and said in a wicked tone, "Shall we continue?"
Lin Yiran turned her head: "What?"
She was too close to him, and when she turned her head, the corner of her lips unconsciously brushed against his face.
She looked at him unexpectedly, completely out of her expectations.
Chen Si reached out and touched the spot where her lips had touched, his voice low and husky: "You're being so proactive?"
The man's voice trailed off, and his gentle, alluring eyes seemed especially dangerous in the alcohol-scented night.
Lin Yiran felt her breathing become a little rapid.
Chen Sihui stroked her soft waist again, pulled her closer to him, and whispered in her ear, "I don't drink much. I only drink a little, and I'm a good drinker."
Lin Yiran: ...
!?
Is that correct? Who asked that?
Seeing her wide, puzzled eyes, Chen Si continued, "Didn't I tell you back then that I don't have any bad habits?"
He was in good health and had no bad habits. That's what he said to her at the time.
"I'm afraid you'll think I'm trying to trick you into marriage."
Lin Yiran was putting on a brave face as he approached, but in reality, her ears were practically ringing with anticipation.
Lin remained silent, only retreating.
Chen Si replied with his last words: "I'll show you my best health later, but for now..."
He turned his head and kissed those soft, pink lips that he was addicted to again.
The last words caught in their throats: "Shall we kiss a little longer?"
