Chapter 1 Chapter 1 I married my boyfriend's uncle

September 1994, autumn.

The ginkgo trees are turning yellow, and the ground is covered with broken gold.

The warm sunlight shines through the layers of branches and leaves, casting mottled light and shadows on the ground. Students who are going to Jiangcheng University to report for the start of school shuttle between the light and shadows.

The high ponytail fluttered and brushed against the girl's slender neck. Lin Wan, who had just finished her junior year summer vacation, finally ushered in the first semester of her senior year.

With graduation coming up in a year, many seniors are already thinking about their future prospects.

In the past, graduates were guaranteed jobs, secure stable government jobs, and many even secured positions as government officials, promising a bright future. However, starting last year, this system of guaranteed jobs for graduates began undergoing minor changes. The once-robust promise of secure jobs after graduation is now showing signs of weakening. The shift from guaranteed jobs to self-selected employment, and from targeted employment arrangements to two-way self-selection, has left many families anxious.

Only Lin Wan's family is not like that.

A month ago, Lin Wan's family learned that their daughter's boyfriend was the grandson of a wealthy family in Jiangcheng, and they were eager to let their daughter marry him as soon as possible.

How can we let go of such a rich son-in-law!

Lin Wan did not respond to her family. Regardless of where her family's eyes were fixed, she knew that even her boyfriend's family was not an ordinary place.

Putting aside this unexpected relationship, Lin Wan was more concerned about graduating from university. Jiangcheng University is considered a mid-tier university in the country. Thanks to Jiangcheng's development and construction over the years, finding a good job in the future is a top priority.

There are two main good places for college graduates to get jobs nowadays. One is a state-owned factory, which has good benefits and high salaries, and the job can be passed on to the next generation, which is really popular; the other is within the system, where you can sit in an office and hold a pen, which is also decent.

Lin Wan has excellent academic performance and performs well in school, so it should not be a problem for her to find a good job.

With this in mind, Lin Wan headed towards Jiangcheng University, intending to ask her senior sister, who had graduated last year and was working as a counselor at the university, about the situation. However, just as she passed the Sixue Building, she heard a classmate joking, "Lin Wan, Fu Mingjun was looking for you just now. He's over there."

When she heard her boyfriend's name, Lin Wan paused and suddenly remembered that Fu Mingjun had mentioned a few days ago that he wanted to meet his parents on his own.

Fu Mingjun, who was eager to meet his girlfriend and her family, never imagined that his mother had already met with Lin Wan in private. Her words were polite and her manners were elegant, but the unavoidable topic was that she vaguely mentioned that the gap between the two families was too big and hoped that Lin Wan would be self-aware.

Lin Wan listened quietly to her boyfriend's mother's words, and finally replied to her lightly: Auntie, these words should be said to your son.

If I go there again, it might be a Hongmen Banquet.

Lin Wan turned around and went to the back of the Sixue Building. She thought that the matter of meeting the parents would wait for a while...she would talk about it after Fu Mingjun had the ability to solve the problem with his mother.

However, when the figure of her boyfriend Fu Mingjun appeared in Lin Wan's sight, a corner of a dark gray, straight suit also caught her eye.

A male college student in youthful sportswear stood opposite a mature and steady businessman. Lin Wan recognized him at a glance as her boyfriend's uncle Fu Xiuhuai, whom she had met twice before.

The Fu family is one of the most famous wealthy families in Jiangcheng. In just over a decade, they have experienced ups and downs. Today, they are famous and prominent, all thanks to their uncle who is only eight years older than their nephew to support the family business.

Lin Wan often heard Fu Mingjun mention her uncle, who was decisive and efficient in business, caring for his family, and was especially protective of his nephew Fu Mingjun.

Furthermore, the last time they met this uncle during an off-campus date, Lin Wan noticed that the rumored Jiangcheng tycoon, Fu Xiuhuai, was gentle and refined, and he praised her politely and gently, showing his easygoing attitude towards the younger generation. Lin Wan was surprised by his lack of airs, his handsomeness and friendliness, and her reservedness about meeting her boyfriend, an elder and successful businessman, eased a bit.

In front of the corridor, a deep voice, different from Fu Mingjun's clear voice, suddenly passed by Lin Wan's ears, interrupting her thoughts.

I only heard my boyfriend's uncle, Fu Xiuhuai, commenting on his nephew's relationship in a flat tone: "Your mother is right, you and Miss Lin are indeed not suitable."

"Uncle! Are you also a snob? Do you think we're not a good match?" Fu Mingjun didn't expect his uncle to be so pedantic, even siding with his mother. "That's not what you said before. You said you'd let me fall in love."

Lin Wan had no intention of intruding into the argument between the uncle and nephew. When she turned to leave, she could only faintly hear Fu Xiuhuai's ruthless reply.

"Wait until you are no longer dependent on your family for luxury cars and villas, and you are truly confident before you say such things."

oh.

Lin Wan thought that Uncle Fu Mingjun was not as easy-going and friendly as he pretended to be, and was most likely a smiling tiger.

However, she didn't care.

There wasn't much to do on the first day of school, so Lin Wan returned to the dorm after finishing her work. With two days left before school started, only three of her roommates had returned. The local roommates had all gone home after reporting and would return the day after school started, with the exception of Lin Wan. The other roommates who had returned early were all from out of town.

The four of them chatted that night, ranging from their aspirations for senior year to their jobs after graduation, and then to the issues of love and starting a family that everyone cares about.

When the lights were turned off, Lin Wan slowly closed her eyes. The ruthless judgment of her boyfriend's uncle Fu Xiuhuai on this relationship seemed to still echo in her ears. Even though Lin Wan did not have a deep impression of this relationship, she still felt uncomfortable listening to the critical denial.

This uncle doesn't seem to be that good either.

He must look down on me.

Have a good night's sleep.

It seemed like she had slept for a very long time, and Lin Wan's consciousness was a little fuzzy. This sleep was particularly deep and long, and the first thing that came to her mind was today's schedule. Tomorrow was the first day of school, and she had to go to the academic office to help out.

The morning light caressed her cheeks, and her curled eyelashes popped up. Lin Wan slowly opened her eyes, and was met with a dazzling sunlight.

Pure white gauze curtains danced softly in the breeze, playing with the light as they drifted gently through the spacious and luxurious room. The pristine whitewashed walls echoed the elegant, simple European-style furniture throughout. The solid wood wardrobes, chests of drawers, and even the sofa and fine tea sets exuded quality and elegance, proving the value of money.

Lin Wan looked up at the dazzling crystal chandelier on the ceiling, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes showing a hint of doubt.

Where am I?

When she sat up and looked at herself clearly in the exquisite carved bronze mirror on the dressing table against the wall at the end of the bed, she was even more surprised.

The self in the mirror was not the long-straight-haired woman wearing plaid pajamas and pants in the university dormitory before going to bed. Instead, she had transformed into a woman with long curly hair wearing a silver silk nightgown, and even an exquisite and expensive women's watch on her wrist.

Staring blankly at herself in the mirror, Lin Wan was sure that something was wrong. She had clearly fallen asleep in the school dormitory last night, and before going to sleep she was still thinking about helping to collect books tomorrow. Why did she wake up in a strange and luxurious bedroom at this moment?

"Madam, Mr., let me see if you're awake. How are you feeling?"

Outside the door, a bright middle-aged female voice suddenly sounded, interrupting Lin Wan's thoughts.

Madam? Who?

There was no one else in the room except herself. Lin Wan's beautiful willow-shaped eyebrows frowned slightly, and she felt more and more strange.

Standing up and opening the door, Lin Wan found that the middle-aged woman at the door seemed familiar. The woman had a well-proportioned figure and a yellow face but she did not look thin. Instead, she looked quite healthy and capable, especially her eyes were bright and the corners of her lips were slightly raised, she looked very kind.

After recalling for a few seconds, Lin Wan suddenly remembered that this person was Aunt Wang, the nanny of her boyfriend Fu Mingjun's family. She had once delivered things to school for Fu Mingjun and had met her once.

"Madam, my husband asked me to ask how you are feeling today. If you feel unwell, you should go to the hospital for a checkup."

Lin Wan didn't feel uncomfortable at all, but was more puzzled as to how a college student could become a wife.

However, being in an unfamiliar environment and meeting someone she wasn't too familiar with, she didn't alarm him and only responded tentatively: "Nothing, I'm in good health. Where is the gentleman you mentioned..."

"My husband has gone to the company," the middle-aged woman replied casually. Remembering that there was still soup simmering in the kitchen, she hurried downstairs. "Breakfast is ready, ma'am. You must remember to eat it, especially since you're pregnant. You should be more careful."

Aunt Wang’s footsteps rang out on the solid wooden stairs, and each step seemed to be stepping on Lin Wan’s heart.

Pregnant?

She raised her hand and placed it on her belly as if by reflex, lowering her head and staring at her abdomen which seemed to have no changes at all. Lin Wan couldn't believe it. Was there a child inside?

Looking up and around, Lin Wan was surprised to find that she was in an exquisitely decorated villa, which was spacious and elegant, completely different from her dormitory and the crowded and small room at home.

Looking down from the corridor on the second floor, one could see the intricate and layered ornate crystal chandeliers on the ceiling, sparkling and translucent, their gentle light illuminating the huge living room. A gilded photo frame hung high on the wall of the living room, and the people in the family portrait looked particularly familiar to Lin Wan.

Her boyfriend Fu Mingjun, his grandparents, parents and uncle Fu Xiuhuai were all there.

How did he end up in the Fu family's villa? !

The middle-aged woman who had just come downstairs placed breakfast on the rectangular dining table in the dining room and called out, "Madam, have breakfast now. Don't be hungry."

As she walked up the stairs step by step, Lin Wan's mind was full of thoughts, but she couldn't make sense of everything. Suddenly she remembered something, and her footsteps became hurried, scaring the middle-aged woman to scream.

"Oh, ma'am, please slow down and take care of yourself."

Lin Wan ignored the calls in her ears and went straight to the calendar hanging on the wall of the living room. She saw beautiful Chinese paintings with some deep and some light strokes outlining the mountains and rivers, and the year at the side was written in red cursive script - 1995.

Lin Wan stared at the calendar for a long time in disbelief, and still couldn't believe it, she turned back and asked, "Aunt Wang, what year, month, and day is today?"

Wang Qiuxia suspected that this wealthy family's daughter-in-law had lost her mind because she had lived too comfortably. "Today is September 2, 1995. Today is the first day of school for Jiangcheng University. The second young lady just left this morning."

It was like a thunderclap exploding in Lin Wan's ears, and she suspected that she was dreaming.

Yesterday was clearly September 3, 1994. I had just reported to school and was about to enter the first semester of my senior year. How come when I woke up it was already a year later - September 2, 1995.

In her twenty-one years of life, Lin Wan had never witnessed anything so bizarre that it left her with a confused mind.

A year later, she was already married to her boyfriend, Fu Mingjun? And pregnant? Lin Wan was incredulous.

She had been honest with Fu Mingjun from the beginning, saying she wasn't interested in starting a family for the time being. She wondered what would happen this year that would change her mind and allow her to get married right after graduation.

"Ma'am, let's eat first. The milk and eggs are getting cold."

After being frightened quite a bit this morning, Lin Wan couldn't figure out what was going on, but now she felt a little hungry.

No matter how bizarre things are, you have to fill your stomach first.

Lin Wan sat down at the dining table and took a sip of warm milk. The fresh milk exuded a rich milky aroma that melted in her mouth. She then took a bite of the egg, and the hunger in her stomach was slightly relieved.

But her doubts remained, and she needed a definite answer: "Aunt Wang, where does Fu Mingjun work? When will he be back?"

No matter what, she needed to talk to someone and find out what had happened this year.

Aunt Wang was preparing lunch ingredients and was stunned when she heard this: "Madam, where does Mingjun work? He's been playing every day for the past few months since he graduated. He went out of town a while ago and hasn't come back. But, Madam, it's not a good time for you to ask about Mingjun's affairs..."

Lin Wan was confused: "Didn't you just say that Mr. went to the company?"

"Yes." Aunt Wang finished processing the beef and answered casually, "Mr. Fu goes to the company every day. The whole Jiangcheng knows that Kaihua Company can't do without Fu Xiuhuai."

Lin Wan's heart skipped a beat, and her hand slipped, causing the glass of milk to slam against the dining table with a crisp sound.

The milky white liquid swayed gently in the cup, just like her heart at the moment, which was full of ups and downs.

She actually married her boyfriend's uncle, Fu Xiuhuai? !
