Whoever he is, Jiang Jingxue has no intention of indulging him. With a smirk, she retorted, "Who am I? I'm Pingwei's wife."
Almost instantly, the young woman in front of him burst into tears.
Tears streamed down her face as she looked on in disbelief, her voice trembling with anger, "You're lying! You country bumpkin! You're no match for Brother Pingwei!"
Jiang Jingxue sneered, turned to the side, put her hands on her hips, and said sarcastically, "Yo yo yo, Brother Pingwei~"
"Pingwei, so women can't be in your house?"
Gu Pingwei's face was cold and stern, and he frowned. "Have you been fooling around enough?"
Jiang Jingxue snorted and returned to her seat.
This damn man not only didn't help her, but also scolded her for being ridiculous.
She worked so hard to cook for him; she should really put some croton seeds in his food!
Yu Guoqiang quickly stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Professor Yue, it's been a long time. Let's have dinner now."
Professor Yue was also a little embarrassed and quickly scolded his daughter, "Yue Keqi is too spoiled and doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut. You and Pingwei have made a fool of yourselves."
“I’ve been busy with the project lately, and I haven’t been able to find time to visit Pingwei since he came to the island. It just so happens that we met today.”

What was supposed to be a peaceful meal was ruined by someone, and Jiang Jingxue was still angry.
Who knew Yue Keqi would start causing trouble again.
Yue Keqi stared at Gu Pingwei through teary eyes, "Pingwei, is what she said just now true? You really married her?"
Jiang Jingxue lowered her head and sneered. She was eating the food Jiang Jingxue had made, and yet she dared to ask such a question.
Jiang Jingxue placed her hand on Gu Pingwei's leg and kneaded it gently, seemingly as a threat.
If he tries to deliberately point out that they are just engaged, as he did before, Jiang Jingxue will hit his sore spot.
We must teach him a lesson.
Feeling the soft touch on his leg, Gu Pingwei's expression changed. He forced himself to remain calm as he looked at Jiang Jingxue, who tilted her head and smiled as she recalled the moment.
The strength in his hands was not diminished at all.
This was a threat, and Gu Pingwei understood it.
But he didn't want to change it, and calmly continued, "I haven't introduced her yet, this is my fiancée."
Jiang Jingxue pinched him hard!
The technique was highly skilled and the pain was intense. Even Gu Pingwei, who was not afraid of bullets, turned pale because of the pain that went straight to his nerves.
Just as a muffled groan was about to escape his lips, Gu Pingwei quickly turned his head away and coughed.
Yue Keqi immediately put down her chopsticks, rushed to Gu Pingwei's side in a panic, and patted his back to soothe him, showing how much she cared for him.
Jiang Jingxue then withdrew her hand and focused on eating her hairy crab.
Of all things, eating is the most important; we must not waste the fruits of our labor!
After finishing her meal, Jiang Jingxue wanted to go for a walk. She hadn't had a proper chance to explore the area since arriving, and she wanted to see if there were any business opportunities.
Although he has some reputation for his medical skills, he mostly provides free medical consultations.
This small island was poor to begin with, and the people didn't have much money, so they considered it an act of charity.
No sooner had Jiang Jingxue stepped out the door than Yue Keqi followed closely behind.
The clattering of her little leather shoes was impossible for Jiang Jingxue to ignore, even if she wanted to.
Jiang Jingxue sighed and stopped in her tracks. "Come out. What are you doing following me?"
Yue Keqi was discovered, and she stopped hiding. With an arrogant look on her face, she said, "You're from the countryside, aren't you? Look at your clothes, so rustic."
"The lambskin I'm wearing is imported from Germany. Do you know how expensive it is?"
Jiang Jingxue calmly replied, "Are you asking a genuine proletarian how much a piece of imported German lambskin would cost?"
"As far as I know, although your father is a research professor, his salary is limited. It probably can't support your petit-bourgeois lifestyle, can it?"
Yue Keqi's expression changed, and she pointed a finger at Jiang Jingxue, "You!"
With a snap!
Jiang Jingxue slapped Yue Keqi away. She hated being pointed at. "What do you mean, 'you'? If you came all this way just to show off your clothes, you don't need to."
Who cares?
There was not a trace of envy in Jiang Jingxue's eyes; she was completely different from the girls Yue Keqi usually met.
But this tactic was completely ineffective against Jiang Jingxue.
Yue Keqi's chest heaved, her eyes darting around, trying to provoke Jiang Jingxue, "You're from the countryside, so you probably don't know, but Pingwei and I grew up in the same courtyard. We're childhood sweethearts, and our relationship was incredibly close when we were little. It's not something an outsider like you can interfere with!"
"Besides, everyone on the island knows I like Brother Pingwei. If I were you, I'd be better off leaving now!" Yue Keqi said smugly.
Originally, her background was not a good match for Gu Pingwei, after all, there were so many girls in the Beijing social circle.
But who knew that even God was on her side? Gu Pingwei was able to recuperate on an island after he was injured.
She would never let Jiang Jingxue, that country bumpkin, ruin such a destined fate!
Jiang Jingxue's lips curled up, and an interest flashed in her eyes. So that's how it is. Yue Keqi is treating her as a rival.
