Chapter 12, Chapter 12, is it all an act?
Stepping out of the crowd, Yu Nianqing released Heng Xing's mouth.
"Cover my mouth," Heng Xing said quietly from behind.
Mr. Yu, who was just flustered, has now tidied his appearance, composed himself, and returned to his usual calm and gentle demeanor.
He straightened his scarf and said with a smile, "Captain Heng, this is just a temporary measure. Let's hurry up and get to class."
"Take a look, are you sure it's her?"
Yes, that's right.
Hengxing stood at the back door of the classroom and looked inside. Professor Wen was standing on the podium. Ten minutes of class time had already passed, and she had already opened her courseware and begun to explain the content.
The students in the front row were listening attentively, while those in the back were slacking off on their desks and playing with their devices. It seemed Professor Wen wasn't a strict teacher.
"Let's go in from here. The last two rows are empty. Let's pick a seat that's close by," Hengxing whispered.
But she did not hear a reply from Mr. Yu.
She turned her head in confusion and found that he was pale, his eyes were avoiding hers, and he didn't look well.
"Captain Heng, I need to use the restroom. You can go in first, okay?" Yu Nianqing felt the sudden event beneath him and awkwardly asked for her opinion.
Why now? Why so long in advance?
"It's okay, you can go ahead. Do you know where the restroom is?"
"I know, there are signs there. I've taken care of it, I'll come find you right away." After saying that, he left in a hurry, his steps a little unsteady.
Hengxing stared at his retreating figure, bewildered. What was wrong?
That's weird.
I'll just ignore him.
She crouched low and tiptoed into the classroom, sitting down in the second-to-last row near the back door.
A slight unease crossed my mind.
Hengxing cautiously looked up. Good, the teacher wasn't looking at him.
That means it's safe.
It's probably a lingering effect of being a student; I like to scare myself.
During high school, she was late for school a few times because she overslept.
Different teachers have different rules. The math teacher requires her to shout "Report!" loudly at the front door, while the physics teacher asks students who are late not to affect his mood for teaching and to just sneak in through the back door.
She didn't know what Professor Wen's style was, and Hengxing was going to send her flowers tomorrow, so she still needed to leave a good impression.
Hengxing sat up straight, ready to listen to two lessons without textbooks.
"We have finished covering all the content of the previous lesson on t. I will give you two minutes to review it. In a little while, I will ask a student to come up and describe the structure of the brain."
Hengxing: ...
Did I come in too early? I should have waited until she finished asking her questions before coming in.
She reached out and nudged the male student in the front row, "Hey classmate, how often does Teacher Wen discipline students?"
An unnamed male student turned around and said, "So this teacher's surname is Wen."
Hengxing: ...
The male student shared the same confusion and helplessness as her: "I don't know either. I came here to substitute teach. That guy just threw me a book and went out to play."
Heng Xing: ... "Didn't he tell you any precautions?"
Male student: "Yes, he told me never to sit in the last two rows."
We're doomed.
So the last two rows aren't allowed to be sat in. She was just thinking that some idiots didn't know that sitting in the back would be more comfortable.
The fool was myself.
"The blonde girl sitting in the second-to-last row, come to the front and answer a question." Wen Xiyu pushed up her glasses and looked towards the back of the classroom.
The whole class's attention was focused on him.
Heng Xingxin steeled herself and stood up. "Teacher, I don't know how."
The students below the stage all gave her the look of admiration for the warrior.
Wen Xiyu: "I've been talking for so long, didn't you hear anything?"
"Teacher, to be honest, I just realized I went to the wrong classroom," Hengxing blurted out.
Wen Xiyu pushed up her glasses again.
I only realized now that I went to the wrong classroom and attended the wrong class.
Fortunately, these students who don't like to study aren't in our major.
So she asked in a friendly tone, "Excuse me, what's your student ID number?"
Hengxing: ...
"Teacher, actually I'm here to deliver takeout." She took out a few vials of nutrient solution from her spatial storage.
"And then you were kicked out?" Yu Nianqing asked her in shock.
Heng Xing, hands clasped in his pockets, said calmly, "Not really, I actually took the initiative to come out of there myself."
The two then sat down silently together by the flower bed near the door.
Heng Xing broke the silence, "So, are you alright?"
Based on Yu Nianqing's reaction, she roughly deduced what kind of emergency had occurred.
Yu Nianqing felt a little embarrassed to talk about this kind of thing with an Alpha. Even though she wasn't feeling well and had a lower abdominal pain, she still chose to brush it off, saying, "It's nothing."
Heng Xing looked straight ahead. "Do you need to finish the sugar water? The cafeteria might have some."
Yu Nianqing couldn't help but glance at her, "Are you going to take me to get some sweet soup?"
"It's not me taking you, it's me accompanying you." Hengxing always maintains his stingy persona.
Yu Nianqing: "...Let's discuss how to send flowers instead."
Hengxing crossed her legs. "I've already thought it through. She has another class tomorrow morning. I'll go and carry the flowers over and put them here. You stop her, and then I'll take the opportunity to recite a poem to move her."
Is your tone meant to move her or to influence her?
“That poem won’t move anyone,” Yu Nianqing thought, “I’m not sure I can stop her.”
“How could that be? You’re an Omega, everyone will give way to you.” Hengxing pointed to his face. “Besides, with your looks, everyone will favor you.”
What does it look like?
Yu Nianqing firmly refused, "No way."
“Alright then, let’s try a different approach.” Heng Xing recalled the “Yula University Medical School” label on the presentation slides. “Professor Wen is a medical student, so you can lie down on her path, and while she’s performing CPR on you, I’ll take out those 52 large bowls of roses, tell her I’m a priestess from some remote little star, and then recite a resurrection spell. The roses will be her reward for saving you…”
"You look terrible. Don't we need to go to the cafeteria for some sweet soup?"
"Captain Heng, my pale complexion is not due to any physical discomfort."
Don't you have any self-awareness about what you're saying?
Yu Nianqing's excellent composure allowed him to retain a smile. "So, the spell to bring the dead back to life wouldn't be the love poem that Mr. Liu wrote, would it?"
"You are very smart."
Hengxing patted his shoulder, stood up, straightened her clothes, and tried to sit down. But a sharp pain suddenly shot through the back of her head, as if fine needles were pricking the nerves there. Cold sweat quickly climbed onto her forehead, and a piercing ringing in her ears sounded like a death knell. She covered her head, frowned, and squatted down, leaning against the flower bed.
Yu Nianqing initially didn't think much of it, assuming she had suddenly decided to demonstrate how to feign illness for him the next day. But two minutes later, seeing her still trembling by the flowerbed, he realized something was wrong. "Captain Heng, are you alright?"
Hengxing didn't answer; the tinnitus drowned out all the ambient noise, and she couldn't hear Yu Nianqing's voice at all.
She still didn't react. Yu Nianqing finally realized something was wrong, walked over to her, squatted down, and took out a tissue to wipe the sweat from her forehead. "Captain Heng, Captain Heng, are you alright?"
"Hengxing, Hengxing!"
Hengxing covered her head. She felt as if she were in darkness, and someone was pulling her by the hair and slamming her against the wall. No matter how she resisted, she could not stop the repeated impacts. The more she resisted, the stronger the impact became. She felt as if her brains were about to be smashed out.
At the classroom door, Wen Xiyu, who had just finished class, shut down her computer, organized her lecture notes, and walked out of the classroom to go to the cafeteria for lunch. By the flowerbed near the entrance of the teaching building, she saw the delivery person who had mistakenly entered the classroom. Actually, after thinking about it, she assumed she was just a student who liked to make excuses, but since roll call revealed that everyone in the class was present, she could only tentatively assume she was a delivery person.
The blond deliveryman squatted by the flower bed, his face contorted in pain, while a man wearing a scarf squatted beside him, anxious but helpless.
Out of a doctor's sense of duty, she walked toward the flower bed.
Her head was bleeding, and the pain hadn't stopped, but she didn't know how long it would last. Hengxing felt numb to time and couldn't remember when she started being forced to bang her head against the wall here. But she wasn't numb to the throbbing pain in her head. Even though each resistance brought even more intense pain, she was still trying to escape this tearing darkness.
A faint scent of mint wafted around her, lingering at the tip of her nose, and she suddenly felt the hand gripping the back of her head relax for a moment.
The opportunity has arrived.
She broke free from the restraints of that hand.
The headache stopped.
Yu Nianqing looked at Heng Xing, who suddenly pounced on her, in a daze. Heng Xing buried her fluffy head in the crook of her neck, and a few curly hairs brushed against the tip of her nose, making her feel a little itchy.
Hmm, it smells like roses. It seems that it's not just the driver's cab that's been marinated with rose petals.
"Captain Heng, are you alright?"
The person in his arms hugged him tighter, with the unreasonable arrogance typical of Alphas.
He couldn't break free at all.
Afraid of upsetting her again, Yu Nianqing could only ask gently again, "Hengxing, are you feeling better?"
Smelling the mint, Hengxing slowly came back to his senses, his mind cleared, and his headache subsided.
Hey, why am I hugging someone?
Holy crap, why am I hugging someone?!
"Are you two alright?" Wen Xiyu asked the two people on the ground.
"I'm alright," Yu Nianqing replied, turning her head to see that it was Professor Wen.
He turned to look at the Alpha in his arms and suddenly realized that Heng Xing might have been faking it because he saw Professor Wen nearby.
Heng Xing slowly released Yu Nianqing and apologized to him. After all, he had suddenly gone crazy and hugged him. When he spoke, the tips of his ears were so red that they looked like they were about to bleed.
Seeing her shy appearance, Yu Nianqing stopped paying attention to her sudden hug.
It's a really pleasant experience to see someone who's usually shameless and can say anything blush and become shy.
On the contrary, Wen Xiyu's eyes darkened. As a materialist, she always only cared about facts and did not consider possibilities.
These two, one A and one O, have a close relationship. Today in class, the blonde even said she was a food delivery person, and they tried to get my attention at the entrance of the teaching building after school.
Help! Could it be that someone sent them to deliver something to me?
So she asked, "Did Liu Zhe send you?"
"There's a coffee shop in Area B of the school. Let's talk."
Yu Nianqing glanced at Heng Xing, and seeing that she did not object, she nodded in agreement.
The two followed Professor Wen toward the coffee shop.
Hengxing walked at the back, still pondering the sudden headache that had just struck him.
She connected this to her loss of control a few days earlier, something she had never experienced at 18, unlike a coincidence that was simply due to old age and poor health.
What exactly did 28-year-old Hengxing go through?
How can I find the memories of these ten years?
Heng Xing frowned, thinking of Xiao Ci from the illegal clinic, wondering if she could be of any help.
A note from the author:
Yu Nianqing: Is Heng Xing faking it?
Professor Wen: These two are faking it, aren't they?
