Chapter 54 I See You Every Day

Chapter 54 I See You Every Day

Yesterday, Heng Xing led his team to the target planet and successfully discovered the insect beasts hiding deep in the earth's crust before the planet exploded. They sprayed the insects with a special insect repellent from the Imperial Research Institute, driving the insect beasts out of their burrows.

I spent the whole day hunting down the overflowing insectoid beasts, and it was only with great difficulty that I managed to get rid of the last one.

Wu Yi reported with a smile that after the researchers examined the planet, they not only ensured that there were no more insect beasts hidden beneath the land, but also discovered a large amount of ink crystals again, which meant that they could receive more bonuses later.

After a long day and night of hard work, the Frost Army squad stopped to rest on the planet. They sat on the open sand, roasting insect meat and discussing how to spend the prize money after everything was over.

"General Heng, aren't you coming to eat?"

"I'll come back later."

Heng Xing took advantage of this free time to open his terminal, preparing to tell Yu Nianqing the good news.

Perhaps the two of them can travel together in the future. The empire has many famous attractions; they can soak in hot springs at the foot of snow-capped mountains or have a picnic among ancient buildings.

He'll probably like it.

Alpha was basking in the joy of her good news when she opened her terminal to find a series of distress messages.

All of it came from the GPS tracking alarm she bought.

Ten hours ago?

After such a long time, even the toughest insects and beasts would be roasted into charcoal!

Hengxing anxiously dialed back.

I didn't answer.

She didn't give up and called back again and again.

Finally, after ten minutes, the video call was connected.

She has only made video calls occasionally in the past six months.

Because of the tight schedule and busy work, she once went three weeks without showering, and her usually fluffy golden curly hair became sticky like instant noodles, which was very unsightly.

Yu Nianqing is a well-known germaphobe. To maintain her image and to avoid being disliked for her unkempt appearance, she only makes video calls during the precious time after taking a shower.

This time I was in a really bad rush.

She touched her tangled hair, quietly moved the video feed down to below her eyes, and then gathered her hair back, making it look like she had tied it into a small braid.

At least try to cover it up.

When the video call connected, she saw that the other person was on the spaceship and breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't wait to ask, "Mr. Yu, what happened?"

"I'm sorry, I just saw the emergency distress message sent to me by the location alarm."

Yu Nianqing did not reply.

My heart, which had just settled down, immediately jumped again.

Why aren't you saying anything?

"How are you?"

Yu Nianqing told her a few days ago that he was going to attend Professor Wen's wedding today.

Could something have gone wrong at the wedding?

Hengxing scrolled back through the chat history and found several unread messages.

Burgundy roses fell from the sky and landed on the pristine white tablecloth, creating a striking and contrasting effect.

There was still no sound from the other end, so she could only look at the photo and guess.

Mr. Yu, are you thinking of getting married?

Is it because Omega people lack a sense of security?

When she left, he also expressed his desire for his mark.

Hengxing doesn't think her boyfriend is the type to mess around with safety-related matters.

When she was lying in the treatment pod, all she wanted was a terminal, but no matter how much she begged him, he wouldn't give it to her, always ending the conversation with "Let's wait for the doctor to come."

What exactly is the reason?

She was at her wits' end, unable to figure out the reason.

While I was still struggling with this decision, I suddenly heard a few sobs from the other side.

"Why are you crying?" Hengxing ignored her unsightly appearance and leaned straight in front of the camera, as if she could see more of the scene that way.

Yu Nianqing shrank back into the blanket and sobbed softly, "Captain Heng, I feel so bad."

His remaining rationality led him to point the terminal camera at the ceiling.

It must have looked terrible to cry like that, gasping for breath, but this time he really couldn't hold back.

When he had nightmares before, he felt an invisible hand mercilessly squeezing his neck, tightening it constantly, just like Lin He had in the afternoon.

But once he has recovered, he will let go of her hand.

But the discomfort he felt one after another today was like a high-powered drill bit rapidly breaking through his psychological defenses.

He felt as if he were sinking in the sea, with a thousand-pound stone hanging from his body. Then he felt as if he were on a planet invaded by insects and beasts, helpless and just waiting for the final explosion.

Listening to his intermittent sobs, Hengxing felt herself struggling to breathe, her brain on the verge of shutting down. Unable to think of words of comfort, she could only anxiously ask him repeatedly, "Why are you feeling unwell? Please tell me."

“I…had a nightmare,” he said.

In her heart, Yu Nianqing had always been a mature and gentle figure. Even when she shed tears, she was as elegant and pitiful as when they reunited on the spaceship.

Hengxing didn't believe that this emotional breakdown was just an ordinary nightmare, given how severe it was.

Heng Xing asked in the gentlest tone, "Mr. Yu, what did you dream about? Tell me about it, okay?"

He was still crying, tears streaming back into his throat, and he sat up coughing violently.

"I...I dreamt about the orphanage."

"Is this the place you lived when you were a child?" Hengxing recalled.

It seems someone told her that most of the Omega children in the Yu family were adopted.

Hengxing: "What happened at the orphanage?"

“I saw…” Yu Nianqing started to say, but stopped abruptly.

A sliver of rationality resurfaced.

These memories are too dark to be easily expressed.

Would Captain Heng think he...?

Maybe we shouldn't say anything.

Hengxing interrupted his anxious speculation, "Tell me, okay?"

She whispered assuring him, "We're the closest of people, aren't we?"

Yu Nianqing's urge to confide in others prevailed. After hesitating for a moment, she stammered out her dream and her past.

wrong.

That's not all.

Heng Xing: "Mr. Yu, what happened this afternoon?"

"Is it the Yu family or Lin He?" she asked decisively.

Yu Nianqing: "It's... Lin He."

"I came back from Professor Wen's wedding, and she pulled me aside..."

He could only get halfway through his sentence before he stopped, his voice cracking with sobs.

Lin He.

Heng Xing's eyes darkened; she could guess what that trash was up to.

She continued to reassure the anxious Omega on the other end of the terminal, "Are you injured? Have you been to the hospital?"

Yu Nianqing suddenly began to explain anxiously, "She didn't touch me, really. Captain Heng, you have to believe me, I only bruised my knee. Then the police came and knocked her unconscious."

“That’s not what I’m asking.” Heng Xing knew what he was worried about. “Mr. Yu, I don’t care about these things.”

She knew that continuing to ask would only make him more nervous, so she changed the subject, "Your knee is bruised, it must hurt a lot, have you put any medicine on it?"

"No," he answered softly.

"Shall we apply it now? I'll watch you apply it," Hengxing said.

"General, would you like to eat the body or the legs?"

Wu Yi suddenly appeared beside the window.

Heng Xing: "Get lost."

"Okay."

He jumped off the mech and returned to his teammates.

"Let's apply some medicine. I'll stay with you," Heng Xing said softly, turning her head.

"Okay, then don't leave." Yu Nianqing turned on the light, and the camera suddenly panned to his bare knees.

"I'm not leaving, I'll just stay here and watch you." Hengxing looked at the two large bruises, and a surge of anger rose in her heart, but she suppressed her irritability and quietly watched him apply the medicine to her.

"Get some sleep, everything will be fine tomorrow," she comforted him once again.

I will handle the rest.

Yu Nianqing had calmed down and was wiping away her tears with a tissue. "I can't sleep."

Hengxing: "Are you scared?"

"Captain Heng, I miss you so much."

He longed to hide in Alpha's arms right now, but that was clearly just wishful thinking.

Hengxing thought for a moment, then realized she wasn't entirely at ease either. "Then I'll stay with you from now on. Don't turn off the video call, just turn off the sound on my end. Watching you is like sleeping with you."

"Don't be afraid."

He was already very happy.

Yu Nianqing obediently placed the terminal on the bedside table, covered herself with the blanket, and said, "Captain Heng, goodnight."

Heng Xing smiled and said, "Good night."

Once the breathing on the other end had completely calmed down, she quietly lowered her voice and made a call.

"Hello, ma'am."

"Did you capture a female Alpha named Lin He at the port today?"

"Yes."

"I'll throw her next door to Si Yun and deal with her myself when I get back."

"good."

Hengxing hung up the call and gently stroked the bulging blankets on the bed in the virtual screen.

Whether she touched him or not, she would make Lin He pay the price completely.
