24. Gotham: Wayne
32.
After resolving the explosives incident, Junimo disappeared.
A breeze blew in through the broken window. Aria sat astride the windowsill, looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle, and sighed.
"well."
He looked at the ground at a forty-five-degree angle and sighed again.
"well--"
Just when Bruce Wayne thought that something had gone wrong and the other party had become alert, the woman finally accepted her fate and tumbled down from the windowsill, walked up to him and extended her hand.
Perhaps it was because they didn't make a good impression on each other the first time they met that the affection didn't last at all, so Aria decided to give him a symbolic rescue.
"Hello, I'm Aria." She tried to recall how she smiled at Martha and decided to replicate it here.
The farmer's smile was so bright and sunny, it was even more dazzling than the bat spotlight cast through the thick clouds at night. "I just came from somewhere else, and I don't quite understand the rules here."
She clasped her hands together lightly, tilted her head and showed her puppy eyes: "This is an emergency. I'm sorry I scared you just now."
The woman smiled brightly, but Batman only noticed her fangs, which were so sharp that they seemed to be able to cut through flesh and blood. She looked more like a safari carnivore than a herbivore.
But Bruce Wayne would not notice these things. He has always been tolerant of others, let alone the beauty in front of him - even though the beauty had just hurried in and out with a bundle of bombs not long ago, Bruce still did not have the slightest sensitivity to potentially dangerous people in society and the awareness of "I want to stay away from them."
"How could that be?"
The handsome man blinked his passionate blue eyes, his eyes flickering as he talked and laughed.
He was born with a look that was highly favored in the love field. The years that he had experienced had not worn away the beauty of his appearance, but instead gave him some experiences that were incomparable to others, making his appearance more fragrant over time.
Bruce Wayne extended his hand, which was a circle larger than Aria's, and shook her hand, his strength so gentle that it seemed as if he were touching the wind. "I am lucky today to be rescued by such a beautiful lady. I think this may be God's arrangement."
Your favorability clearly doesn't say that.
It would have been fine if he hadn't mentioned it, but once he did, the farmer would remember the few gifts he had given away that hadn't made much of a splash. He put on a smile, but when they shook hands, the farmer was secretly trying to be competitive, giving the other person a pinch.
“That’s wonderful.”
Seeing a hint of surprise on the other party's face, the little bit of unhappiness in Aria's heart disappeared.
Come to think of it, the NPCs all had their own preferences for gifts, and perhaps the characters' reactions were so realistic that Aria couldn't help but relate to them, experiencing the feeling of rejection. Actually, being rejected wasn't a big deal. During the first Flower Dance, she hadn't found a single townmate willing to dance with her. She'd danced awkwardly throughout the entire festival, and eventually became good friends with them.
After convincing herself, Aria withdrew her hand as if she didn't know anything and prepared to do her business.
The bomb was installed on the third floor, and combined with the rumors, the other party's goal was quite clear - he/she wanted to kill the mayor.
I don’t know how many interests Lewis has affected since he became mayor. It’s only been a few days and some people have already started taking action.
Aria checked the ceiling where the explosives were installed - the edge of the ceiling was broken, revealing wood fragments of the synthetic board inside. The shape was surprisingly similar to the hole she had made in the door before - it should not have been cut by tools, but was hit by people with bare hands.
The murderer would not destroy the hiding place that had been arranged, and according to the clues provided by the other party, he was chasing a suspicious person...
"Was this place damaged before you came?" Aria pointed to the hole above her head and looked back at Wayne: "This hole in the ceiling looks very new. It must have been broken today."
"Yes." Bruce looked up from where her finger pointed, his whole body radiating a beauty untainted by knowledge. "I was surprised at how broke the City Hall was. I was planning to donate some money to them."
It seems like this guy can be completely ruled out as a suspect... No! What if he's faking it all?
Casting a suspicious look at the man again, the farmer slowly approached and stopped at a safe social distance: "Show me your other hand."
The other party looked like a rich kid who had never suffered any hardship. If there were recent bruises on the fists or other parts of the hands, it would prove that he had noticed something in the ceiling early on, but deliberately concealed his strength in front of her.
Facing his particularly pitiful face, Aria was quite hard-hearted: "I need to eliminate you as a suspect."
"You don't seem to trust me...it makes me a little sad."
Seeing that Aria was still insisting, Gotham Baby grumbled and said reluctantly: "...Well, beauties always have some privileges."
Although he was shy, Wayne was quite calm in spreading out his other hand, allowing himself to be observed.
I didn't notice it when we shook hands just now, but now it seems that his hands have suffered a lot from his master - there are several short and narrow old scars on the back and palm of his hands, one of which is slightly longer, unexpectedly cutting the palm line representing the lifeline in half.
There were no new injuries, but the old ones alone were a bit frightening. Aria, with her fertile imagination, instantly imagined a saga of old and new feuds, complete with swordplay: a young man born into a family of hatred fell in love with a girl from a rival clan. This extraordinary love, unknown to outsiders, ended in tragedy as both families pursued him. From then on, the people they fell in love with would always bear the shadow of the other...
Perhaps it was because his gaze was too intense, after being stared at for a while, Bruce curled his fingers, feeling a little unnatural: "It's an injury from extreme sports—"
He shrugged and offered his usual answer:
"You know, when people have too much wealth and nowhere to spend it, they throw themselves into the adrenaline embrace."
The Gotham Prince nodded to his palm, his injury easily transformed into a joke. It was a shame it was just the two of them, otherwise this joke would have distracted quite a few people at the table. "Of course, if you're interested, I'd be delighted to have a new friend join us."
This answer made the most sense, but was also the most boring. Aria looked away dejectedly, "Thank you, but thanks." Her life was already quite thrilling, and there was really no need to participate in activities to enrich the game.
"But even though you enjoy extreme sports, you still have to take good care of yourself." Aria scratched her head. To her, she was just a stranger, and it seemed a bit superficial to say such things, but she did it anyway. "If I get hurt, my family and my mom and dad will probably be very worried."
A hint of surprise crept onto Bruce Wayne's handsome face, like ripples on the calm deep water. He seemed to be examining her, or just wanted to see her clearly, and his gaze stayed on Aria for a few seconds longer than usual.
In the end, Bruce Wayne chose the most appropriate response to the kindness of a stranger.
"Okay," the Gotham darling said with a frivolous smile, his lips gleaming like an oversized diamond, reflecting all the light from the surroundings back. "...I'll try my best."
…
"So you're here to see Lewis—the mayor?"
"Yes," Bruce Wayne answered sincerely, "I came here to invite the mayor to a charity dinner. I sent an invitation to City Hall but received no response."
"I think maybe the mayor felt that my sincerity was not enough, so I came here on my own."
His voice was like a fine cello, with a subtle hint of frustration at not being accepted, easily drawing listeners into his camp. "If you're familiar with the mayor, could you introduce him?"
Although Lewis probably didn't go to the party because he was afraid of dying inexplicably, the farmer felt that she still needed to maintain his dignity.
The farmer thought about it and finally came up with a reason that was both practical and explainable: "The mayor didn't reply because he doesn't know how to use a computer." There are not many people in the entire Pelican Town who can use a computer smoothly, and Lewis is definitely not one of them.
Every time you say something bad about someone, that person is more likely to appear.
Lewis appeared at the door at some point. In front of outsiders, the mayor acted quite mature and steady:
"Thank you for the invitation, but I'm afraid I can't go to the party."
He stared at the fist-sized hole that appeared in the bathroom door and looked at Aria.
The farmer quickly pointed to the man next to him and said, "He beat me."
Lewis naturally considered the man who invited him to the banquet during the mayor's assassination attempt more suspicious than the honest farmer, whom he knew well. After Aria "identified" the evidence, the newly elected mayor, Lewis, with his hands behind his back, expressed his important opinion on the damage to City Hall property.
"Mr. Wayne, we will send a list of damaged items to your estate later..."
Bruce Wayne glanced at the side with a half-smile and took the blame: "No problem, just leave it to my butler."
"But please reconsider the dinner arrangements."

This is the update for the 12th. I will definitely write a long one tomorrow.
The invitation letter sent by the rich must be a physical one, but the farmer doesn't know it.
Another reason why Bat went to the city hall was because he saw Aria's location there and felt that she was going to cause trouble (Aria: Huh?
