Chapter 139 Obtaining the Soul Gem

The figure recounted the origins of the group, but when it came to Ger, the figure paused slightly, and the body that had floated out also stopped there, half-hidden in the darkness—having been here for so long, this was the first time he had encountered a situation where he couldn't read the identities of the humans who had come, thanks to the Soul Gem.

"What? You're telling me this idiot's father is a god? Are you kidding me?" The raccoon said, showing no mercy in his contempt for Quill.

Quill immediately retorted, "Why can't my father be a god? You're not..."

"Shut up." The two were about to engage in a verbal exchange when they heard Gamora's icy voice. They immediately fell silent. After a moment, Gamora warily looked at the person in front of her and asked, "Who are you?"

At this moment, the figure emerged completely from the darkness, exposed to the surrounding hazy light. For a moment, Quill, Gamora, and the others had strange expressions upon seeing him, but they quickly recovered—beneath the wide cloak was a skeletal face. His face was devoid of any flesh, as if skin were simply pasted onto bones; his nostrils were just holes, with no bridge whatsoever.

Even after seeing so many aliens, Quill, Gamora, and their group couldn't quite accept their appearance.

A moment later, a calm voice echoed around, but it didn't come from the person who had come over. Instead, it came from Ger's mouth: "Red Skull, whose real name is John Schmidt, was sent to the planet Vormir by the Tesseract. He was trapped in the Soul Stone and became a demigod-like being. Only if the person who brought him here sacrifices his most beloved and obtains the Soul Stone can he be freed from his bondage and be released."

Gol's voice made the Red Skull tremble and lower his head instantly: "Respected sir, please follow me."

Upon hearing Gamora's words, Gamora and Quill exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with suspicion and wariness.

A moment later, following the Red Skull, the group passed through two towering boulders and approached a precipice. They stopped beside the precipice, and the Red Skull, looking down at the cliff, said to Gel and the others, "The Soul Gem is below, and to obtain it, you must sacrifice your beloved. It's an eternal exchange, never to be reversed. One soul for one soul."

The Red Skull's voice carried a terrifying magic that chilled Quill and his companions to the bone. They couldn't believe that the method to obtain the Soul Stone was so horrific, yet a strange voice told them that what the Red Skull said was true.

Then, Quill and Gamora looked at each other, then at Gale, and quietly took a few steps back, their eyes revealing a hint of worry.

Gel noticed their actions but ignored them, instead looking down at the cliff and channeling chaotic energy into the Reality Gem in front of him. The dark red energy then slowly flowed downwards.

Dark red energy slowly surged into the area below the cliff, and then more and more of it poured into the ground, gradually filling the area below with the pervasive dark red energy.

Just then, something seemed to start shaking, causing the ground to tremble.

"Playing tricks!" Gel's expression gradually darkened, his eyes narrowed slightly as he looked down at the cliff, his cold voice slowly echoing around him, "Just an Infinity Stone, yet you try to emulate intelligent beings and taste the pain deep within others' souls?"

As Geer spoke, his voice grew increasingly impassioned, until finally, a deafening roar completely drowned out all other sounds. Then, with a loud bang, a large crack split open in the valley, and a gem shimmering with orange light slowly flew out. The surrounding dark red energy enveloped the orange gem and dragged it towards Geer. The orange gem struggled fiercely, but caught between the Reality Gem and the Chaos Energy, it had no power to resist.

A moment later, Ger reached out slightly, pinched the Soul Gem, and after a firm squeeze, the Soul Gem remained completely still in Ger's hand.

Gamora and Quill blushed with shame and took a few more steps closer to Gale, looking at the Soul Gem in his hand.

"Finally, we got another one."

As Geer's chaotic energy circled the Reality Stone and the Soul Stone, sensing the powerful energy within, a smile involuntarily appeared on his face.

Others might also have to sacrifice their most precious people because they can't find the Soul Stone, but Gale possesses chaotic energy, and the Soul Stone cannot hide its whereabouts until it joins forces with the Reality Stone!

Moreover, with two Infinity Stones, his chances of winning have increased significantly, and if he could obtain Ronan's Power Stone, he would have three Infinity Stones.

Even if Thanos obtains the other three Infinity Stones through some means, Nagel will still have the ability to fight him!

"What are your plans?" Gel asked, looking at Quill, Gamora, and their group, as he gripped the Soul Stone back into his hand. At the same time, his gaze swept over Red Skull.

Quill asked cautiously, "Where are you headed?"

Gel gazed at the "Diamond" star in the sky, and after a moment slowly replied, "I'm going to find the other Infinity Stones. I might encounter some terrible enemies along the way, so I plan to go on my own. If you need me to give you a ride, I can use a portal to send you to the area you want to go. This spaceship is also a gift for you."

Quill's face lit up with joy. He glanced at Gamora, and after a few words, he replied to Gel, "Then send us back to Xandar. I want to go find Yondu and the others."
