Chapter 139 Obtaining the Soul Gem

Chapter 140 Obtaining the Soul Gem

An hour later, a medium-sized spaceship full of advanced technology departed from Xandar and headed towards Vormir.

During the spaceflight, time seemed to become a meaningless thing, because no matter when you looked out of the spaceship, all you could see was a vast expanse of starlight.

Before they knew it, ten days had passed. Gamora, Quill, and their group sat in the cockpit, gazing at Gale from afar, and then chatting quietly—although whether they spoke softly or loudly didn't affect Gale, the continuous energy fluctuations coming from a distance still made them unconsciously slow down their voices.

Over the past ten days or so, Ger has been absorbing magical energy. Although none of them are magicians, they can clearly feel that the pressure emanating from Ger has become stronger.

“He must have gotten a lot of good stuff from Xandar’s planetary treasure trove,” the raccoon said, looking in Gol’s direction.

Quill didn't intend to discuss this issue. After all, raccoons were brainless and dared to say such things directly, but Quill himself was still afraid of accidentally angering Gale and being instantly annihilated. So Quill immediately changed the subject: "But what kind of place is Vormir?"

The raccoon immediately chimed in, "That's the legendary land of death, the center of celestial existence, filled with eeriness. Just getting close to it will cause strange things to happen, and there's nothing there, so nobody goes there."

After a moment, Gamora shook her head and said in a deep voice, "But if we follow the established route, we can reach a mysterious valley, and the Soul Stone is there."

"I wonder how much the Soul Gem will fetch." The raccoon imagined the future, which made Quill next to him look dreamy. Only Gamora cast a helpless glance at the two of them.

In the distance, Gel was intently absorbing the magical energy sources before him. The planet Xandar's treasure trove, accumulated over countless years, contained a dazzling array of novel items. However, Gel only selected about ten magical energy sources to absorb.

After all, for him right now, nothing is more important than increasing his strength.

Although he had been able to hear Quill and the others talking these past few days, he hadn't gone up to communicate with them. Actually, he could have left without anyone, since the spaceship could basically reach Vormir on autopilot as long as it didn't encounter any starships or extreme situations. However, after thinking about it for a while, Gel decided to bring Quill, Gamora, and the others with him.

Gale's ultimate goal was to keep Gamora by his side. Without Gamora, Thanos couldn't obtain the Soul Stone. In this way, the Soul Stone would still end up in Gale's possession.

At the same time, Ger also carried an ultra-long-range communication device. As soon as the commander of Xandar received Ronan's message, Ger would immediately go to Ronan's location and seize the Power Gem from Ronan's possession!

About twenty more days passed in the void, and finally, the spaceship was about to approach the planet Vormir.

From afar, two enormous planets, each shimmering with a faint light, could be seen. These planets were thousands of times larger than Earth. One of them had various clusters of light swirling around it, creating a magnificent sight. The other planet resembled a dazzling diamond—its center was slightly dimmer, surrounded by a bright ring of light, with a single, shimmering jewel embedded at the very edge.

A moment later, Geer and his group landed on the planet filled with orbs of light of various colors.

"This place is marked on the map; it's one of the few places where spaceships can land. If you land outside of these points, the spaceship will lose control in the sky and crash," Gamora explained to the people beside her, then looked in Gale's direction.

There, Ger had slowly walked over.

The group disembarked from the spaceship and, led by Gamora, headed towards their destination along the predetermined route. Heavy snow was falling, the snowflakes swept around by the wind, never settling on the ground. Therefore, there was no trace of white on the ground. Everything around them possessed a unique blend of oppressive beauty and otherworldly grandeur, like a flower blooming in the polar night in a land of sin, filling them with an indescribable feeling.

Unlike Quill, Gamora, and the others, Gel released chaos magic as he walked, sensing everything around him. He could sense the difference in this land; it seemed as if every inch of it possessed a faint spirituality.

After climbing one mountain after another for several hours, Quill and Raccoon were exhausted. They had given Gol a resentful look many times along the way, but Gol ignored them and showed no intention of flying them to their destination. So they had no choice but to walk obediently.

"welcome."

Just as they were about to reach their destination, a strange voice suddenly appeared beside them. The voice didn't sound human; it carried a hint of suppression yet also a clear tone, and as it echoed through the valley, it sounded even more eerie.

"who?"

Quill, Raccoon, Gamora, and Drax immediately drew their guns, aiming them at their surroundings, searching for the person who had spoken. Groot also raised his arms, assuming a fighting stance.

Only Ger calmly turned his body and looked towards a dark place.

A moment later, a figure clad in a large black cloak slowly emerged from the darkness, his voice continuing to echo: "Gamora, born on Zehobery, Thanos's adopted daughter. Quill, her mother is from Earth, her father is a god. Drax..."
