Nick always liked to think of the worst-case scenario, and at this moment he had already accepted Gel's explanation.
However, Nick still had a question in his mind: "Are you sure this person is really Thor?"
Gel had to dispel Nick's doubts, so he said with certainty, "I'm sure it is him. I sensed a powerful sealing force within him, a force that is many times stronger than mine."
Gel knew Nick's character all too well; Nick had never fully trusted him from the beginning, so he had to use the crisis to force Nick to share more information with him.
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, lasting more than ten seconds.
After a moment, Nick took a deep breath: "What's the more important purpose of your call this time?"
He believed that Gerr wouldn't have made the call simply to answer his questions.
“For the next few days, Peter and Pietro will take turns protecting you. I'll borrow Bronsky for now. Also, I need to borrow something…”
The thunder grew louder and the rain poured down harder. The sky was pitch black, and the only light around us came from the lights hanging overhead and the occasional flashes of lightning.
After chatting for several tens of minutes, Geer hung up the phone, walked down the stairs, and slowly headed towards Thor's hammer.
The rain fell around Ger, automatically sliding to both sides; the torrential rain couldn't even wet Ger's clothes.
Slowly, Gale stood beside Thor's hammer and looked towards it.
The handle of Thor's hammer is red and white, and the hammerhead is engraved with many mysterious patterns. Even after being rained on for so long, there is still no rainwater left on it. When raindrops fall on it, they immediately slide down the hammer.
Gel slowly reached out and grasped the handle of Thor's hammer, then exerted a slight force.
But Thor's hammer remained completely still.
"As expected." Ger chuckled self-deprecatingly, then turned and walked towards the room in the fortress.
This heavy rain lasted all night.
The rain didn't stop until the morning of the next day, and the sun slowly rose.
In a small town in New Jersey, Wanda pushed open the door and looked outside.
She left home yesterday at noon and arrived in this small town just in time for a music festival. She had a great time at the festival. Later, a torrential downpour started, and Wanda didn't want to go home anymore, so she rented a house in the town for a short period.
Gel usually gave her a lot of pocket money, so Wanda never cared about the cost of food and lodging.
The surrounding houses are all individual units with small gardens, and every doorway is adorned with a variety of flowers, creating a vibrant and colorful scene. A gentle spring breeze after the rain carries a refreshing fragrance into the air.
"Crunch."
The door of the neighboring house opened, and a middle-aged woman holding an adorable little rabbit slowly walked out. The woman had exquisite makeup on her face, slightly wavy silver-gray hair, and wore an elegant vintage floral dress, seemingly someone who loved life.
When she saw Wanda, she immediately put on a friendly expression: "Are you a new resident?"
Wanda looked at her smile, smiled slightly in return, and nodded: "Yes. Have you been living here for a long time?"
The woman gently stroked the little rabbit she was holding. "I just moved here too. I'm planning to wander around today. Want to come along?"
Wanda walked toward Agatha and readily agreed, "Okay."
“My name is Agatha Harkness, and yours is Agatha.” Agatha walked toward Wanda, her smile growing wider.
“Wanda Maxinov.” Wanda looked gently at the little rabbit in Agatha’s arms. “May I hold this little rabbit?”
“Of course.” Agatha placed the little rabbit in Wanda’s arms.
In the morning sunlight, the two walked towards the market, leaving behind a trail of laughter.
New Mexico, next to Thor's hammer.
Nothing happened that night, and Gle didn't receive any calls from Coulson or Jane.
Everything seemed perfectly calm.
Silently, a figure appeared within the fortress. Yet, if anyone were to notice, even when the sun shone upon this person, no shadow appeared beneath their feet.
Even with the dense network of surveillance cameras all around, none of them were able to capture his presence.
The person who suddenly appeared was Loki.
“The technological development in Midgard is much faster than I imagined.” Loki looked around, a condescending smile on his face.
As far as the eye could see, all that was patrolling and moving around were various kinds of robots. In his perception, there were only four people in this fortress: a man and a woman sitting in front of a monitor, and two physically fit men walking around.
But the two patrolling men were just as physically capable as ordinary Asgardians, nothing special to worry about.
With a few flashes, Loki arrived beside Thor's hammer, circling it several times and examining it closely.
Last night, he had Heimdall find Thor in his tent and then teleport him nearby. Thor, that fool, couldn't pull Mjolnir, and even with Jane's comfort, he wasn't at peace, suffering all night. He just stood by, enjoying Thor's agony. Only just now did he tell Thor that Odin was dead.
Sure enough, that fool believed it and is now in even deeper despair.
With a cold smile, Loki slowly extended his hand toward Thor's hammer.
