Chapter 105 Under Nuclear Weapons, All Are Equal

Chapter 106 Under Nuclear Weapons, All Living Beings Are Equal

A military base near New York.

Nick Fury is in a camp, surrounded by holographic projections of eight members of the International Security Council. He listens silently to the reprimands he receives from them.

But for some reason, Nick felt something was amiss, because even if these congressmen were idiots, they shouldn't be focusing on berating him at this time. Even if they were discussing how to deal with the aliens, the progress was too slow.

A moment later, Nick frowned slightly—he saw that the eight councilors around him seemed to have received some message and were nodding slightly in the direction of the void.

It seems that the time has come.

The surroundings fell silent, and all the councilors calmed down in an instant, as if the anger they had just expressed was completely fake.

“Nick, we have made a decision.” A female senator’s calm voice slowly came from the speakers beside her, but to Nick at this moment, the voice sounded particularly cold.

Nick's heart sank slightly—when did they make the decision, and what decision did they make?

“The military base you’re on has nuclear weapons, and these nuclear weapons were originally intended to be installed on an aircraft carrier in the sky…” a male congressman continued.

Nick widened his eyes slightly, pointed at the television screen, and said to the group of council members, "This is Manhattan Island, in New York. Do you know how many people are here? What kind of ass are you talking about? Besides, Gurney has already gone there, and everyone is doing their best to help those citizens."

The senator's voice remained calm, as if he had anticipated this situation. He simply stared at the screen and said to Nick, "Nick, as you can see, there are more and more aliens there, and the situation seems to be out of their control. We can't put our hopes on them, and we can't risk the entire Earth."

Nick's heart sank. He looked at the expressions on all the congressmen's faces and suddenly froze: "You want to destroy Gale, Tony, and the others on Manhattan Island?"

After he finished speaking, Nick suddenly trembled, as if he had understood everything.

It turns out that the reprimands they had just given him were all routine; what they were really waiting for was probably the moment when Gell arrived in Manhattan.

Moreover, their expressions clearly indicate that this was all planned in advance.

They even have a perfect reason, a reason that is enough to convince the public that all they need to do is bow or offer a word of condolence.

Just like countless times before.

"You all knew the aliens were coming?" Nick looked at the faces of the councilmen, took a deep breath, and asked. But his eyes were lifeless, and his heart felt as if it had been dragged into an abyss, endlessly sinking into darkness.

“Nick, haven’t you always wanted to nip all danger in the bud? After this nuclear explosion today, there will be no more aliens, no more so-called superheroes, and Earth will return to its former state. This is a decision made jointly by all nuclear-armed nations.” The male senator’s calm voice continued to reach Nick’s ears.

Nick smiled coldly, looking at all the councilors. For some reason, he felt nauseous. Even though he already knew what these people were really like, he still felt disgusted, so disgusted that he wanted to find a place to vomit.

He had so many things he wanted to say to refute them, but Nick knew that it would be pointless to say anything now.

Nick's eyes suddenly turned icy cold. He tapped the table, and the four steel boxes beside him suddenly began to change, transforming into four flying robots.

"Surround them in the sky, and don't let any fighter jets leave!" Nick solemnly issued the order to the flying robots.

Instantly, four flying robots soared into the sky. Moments later, the sounds of intense artillery fire and crashing fighter jets could be heard outside.

"Nick, you are disobeying orders." Under the holographic projection, the expressions of the eight senators suddenly turned very serious.

Nick flicked the middle finger at everyone around him, stood ramrod straight, and looked at the councilors with a chilling gaze: "If this is some kind of bullshit order, then I have indeed disobeyed it. Unless my troops can't handle it, I will absolutely order a nuclear attack to kill so many civilians!"

He hadn't given anyone the middle finger in many years, but at this moment, only the middle finger could express his feelings.

But for some reason, he still felt a vague unease in his heart.

“You’re fired, Nick.” The senator’s words made Nick sneer, but then his smile froze. “Nick, you were originally the best option, but you’ve forced us to use a more powerful backup plan.”

Nick's heart sank. Looking at the expressionless members of Congress, he felt utterly chilled, as if his heart had been stuffed into the coldest place on Earth and frozen for an entire night.

Suddenly, Nick lunged at the phone on the table, but he didn't see the lifeless stares of the congressmen as they looked at him.

"Sizzle."

The next moment, a wave flashed through the military base, and then all the lights in the base went out instantly. Then, Nick heard four sounds of objects falling to the ground outside. Nick knew that they were his four flying robots.

"Fuck!"

Nick looked at the dim light around him and couldn't help but curse loudly. Now, he didn't know how to inform Gell and the others, nor did he know where those senators planned to launch the nuclear missile.
