Chapter 154 The Legend of Earth (The Finale)
Ego's words came to an abrupt halt, and his expression turned completely grim—someone on his Star Ego had managed to get close to him without him noticing!
He turned his head and saw a blond boy slowly emerge from his invisibility, appearing before him and Quill. He recognized him as one of the group that had come with Quill.
"Gale," Quill called out sadly, then walked to Gale's side. A sense of melancholy washed over him—of thousands of children, he was just one of thousands. However, Gale interrupted him as he tried to discuss their mother with Ego.
Gel glanced at Quill, a hint of helplessness in his eyes. He interrupted Ego because he knew what Ego was talking about. Back on Earth, Ego had truly loved Quill's mother, but to prevent himself from becoming obsessed with love and to focus on his grand undertaking of devouring the universe, Ego planted a brain tumor in Quill's mother's brain, leading to her death.
Gel felt this was the heaviest blow to Quill, more so than anything else, so he simply showed up and interrupted.
“Quail, all you saw in this palace was him and Mantis. Do you know where his thousands of children went?” Gel said to Quill.
Quill shook his head blankly. He had received too much information today, and his mind had lost all logical thinking.
Seeing Ger's nonchalant attitude, Igor flew into a rage: "Who are you? How dare you interrupt my son's reunion with his family!"
Igor mobilized his energy and surged towards Geer. Geer waved his right hand slightly, and a stream of chaotic energy surged toward Igor's energy. As the two collided, an energy fluctuation rapidly spread out, and at the same time, a spatial gate opened at the center of the energy collision.
Quill looked toward the portal, and in that single glance, his body jolted, frozen in shock—on the other side of the portal lay a mountain of all sorts of withered bones. Some bones were dull and lifeless, while others looked as if they were new.
“This is…” Quill’s lips trembled slightly, as if he could not believe what he was seeing.
Although Ego was standing on the other side of the portal, he seemed to know what Quill had seen. He first looked at Gale with intense killing intent, and then turned his gaze back to Quill, but with a much more friendly and anxious look.
Ego quickly walked over and took Quill's hand: "Son, listen to me, none of those children have Celestial blood, they are not my children at all. Only you, you have my Celestial blood. As long as the two of us are together, we can turn all the other planets in the universe into our energy. Then, we will share this universe that belongs to us."
Hearing Ego's words, Quill's gaze didn't soften; instead, it became even more distant. After a moment, Quill asked, "So, if I don't have Celestial blood, I'll become one of those bones? And we'll have to destroy this universe?"
Quill had grown up on Earth, so Ego's words held no sway over him. For Quill, the love between parents and children was the purest emotion, untouched by anything else. This was the only beautiful thing he had preserved in his heart during his years under Yondu's command, and he would never allow anyone to taint it. Therefore, when Ego admitted to harming the other children and that his affection for Quill stemmed from their Celestial bloodline, Quill's illusions about Ego shattered completely.
As for the planet that devoured the entire universe, he already hated Thanos to the extreme, so how could he possibly help Ego do something even more terrible than Thanos's actions?
“But you do have the blood of the Celestials. Son, don’t you think it’s such a great undertaking to become part of this universe with me?” Ego earnestly explained his “great” idea.
But Quill's gaze grew colder and colder, to the point that Ego involuntarily let go of Quill's hand.
After a moment, Ger's words rang out slowly, his voice filled with unwavering determination: "This world will always belong to everyone in the entire universe, and it will never become the property of any one person."
However, Gol's words only fueled Igor's anger. Igor roared, yelling at Gol, "Where did this fly come from? Get out of my way!"
Millions of years of accumulated energy have made Ego completely disregard everyone else. Those renowned races in the universe are nothing more than groups that he can wipe out at will. Even though Gel has just silently crept up to him and taken the hit of his attack, he still doesn't take him seriously.
As Ego unleashed his fury, the entire sky instantly darkened. It wasn't just the surrounding area that darkened; a thick layer of dark clouds enveloped the entire sky of Ego's planet. Moments later, a fierce wind swept across the sky, causing the clouds to churn and form streaks resembling gray tornadoes.
It seemed as if the entire planet Ego had fallen into an apocalypse.
"The master is angry."
The Mantis Woman emerged from the palace, gazing at the dark clouds in the sky, and spoke with a trembling voice. She was extremely sensitive to emotions, and thus feared her master's wrath.
However, a moment later, a leisurely voice rang in her ears.
"So beautiful."
Mantis glanced to the side and saw Peter beside her, gazing at the sky with a look of rapture. After a moment, she murmured, "Usually in this kind of weather, I like to curl up by the window, drink hot milk, and watch the storm raging outside. Have you ever tried it?"
