“This is a valuable item; it can’t be destroyed.” Ger opened a portal to his basement and threw the massive combat robot over. Then he reduced the size of the metal plate, surrounding Ivan.
Without the combat robots, Gel wasn't worried that Ivan could cause any more trouble; these metal pieces were just to prevent Ivan from being killed by the aftershocks of the battle.
"Natasha, tell Tony and Rhodes not to go too far and to turn back immediately!" Gel looked at the battlefield, which had been completely plunged into darkness, and then at the streaks of white light receding into the distance on the horizon. He quickly contacted Natasha and asked her to pass on the message to Tony and Rhodes.
By the time Natasha relayed the message to Tony, Tony and Rhodes were already in danger.
Seeing that he only had 16% of his energy left, Rhodes quickly turned around with Tony and flew back to the original battlefield.
He had just seen Gel hide and assumed that Gel was annoyed by Tony's rudeness and wasn't going to help. But thank goodness, this savior hadn't given up on the two of them.
Half a minute later, Gel watched as streaks of white light approached from afar, with Tony and Rhodes flying at the forefront.
With a wave of his hands, Gell sent the remaining metal pieces soaring into the sky. Rhodes and Tony quickly flew past him. The remaining combat robots, uncontrolled and utterly unaware of fear, continued their supersonic advance towards Gell. Gell mentally controlled the metal pieces to spin around him, slashing at the oncoming combat robots like flying blades.
"We'll finish them off from behind!"
Tony and Rhodes's Iron Man suits were running low on energy, and they were too embarrassed to hide completely, so they stayed a step behind Gale and fired follow-up shots.
For a moment, the entire sky was filled with the "rat-a-tat" sound of machine gun fire.
The combat robots hit by the metal shards would break in two, and Tony and Rhodes would finish them off with a few more shots, completely destroying the combat robots.
"My war machine is out of power!" Rhodes shouted, looking at his Iron Man suit, which was flashing red lights. His Iron Man suit hadn't been fitted with Tony's latest energy source yet, so even though he hadn't fought as long as Tony, he was the first to run out of energy.
The war machine used its remaining energy to propel Rhodes to the ground.
With his mind, Ger controlled the metal plate below to open an opening, protecting Rhodes as well.
Only Tony and Gale remained in the air, fighting the enemy. At this point, Tony's Iron Man suit was almost destroyed by the hail of bullets, and the metal pieces next to Gale were deformed beyond recognition.
"Right arm and right leg are damaged and about to lose sensation. Energy remaining at 20%." Jarvis's alarm sounded in Tony's ear.
"Natasha, how much longer?" Tony couldn't help but ask Natasha, listening to Jarvis's constant warnings. Looking at the rapidly increasing red numbers before him, he knew the suit wouldn't last much longer.
Natasha's hands were flying across the keyboard as she typed. Finally, with a "beep," the computer screen returned to normal, and all the combat robots attacking Tony and Gale stopped attacking and landed on the ground.
Gel landed on the ground, observed the combat robot for a moment, then opened the metal plate and released Rhodes and Ivan.
"So you went to join Hammer, you're just like him, no good for anything." Tony said rudely, looking at Ivan who looked like a stray dog below.
By the light of the surrounding fire, Ivan listened to his archenemy Tony's taunts, and looked at his unharmed body. As if he had made a decision, he pressed a button on his wrist.
But after waiting for several dozen seconds, nothing happened outside, except for the sound of tiny explosions caused by flames rising from the damaged combat robot.
Ger watched Ivan's actions from the side, a mischievous smile on his face: "What are you waiting for?"
Ivan's eyes widened suddenly as he looked at Ger in disbelief: "It's you?"
Gel nodded: "I removed all the self-destruct devices from the combat robots a long time ago. Let me think, although your attempt to take revenge on society failed, I remember there are relevant articles in the law regarding attempted murder, right? With so many self-destruct devices removed, I think you'll be spending your next life in jail."
Looking at Ivan's expression, Ger couldn't help but want to kill him by attacking his spirit.
He would never give the enemy a chance to launch a desperate counterattack or perish together with them!
"The battle is over. You and S.H.I.E.L.D. can clean up this mess. By the way, Tony, if you need to contact me later, you can do so through Natasha." With that, Gale opened a portal and controlled the remaining intact combat robots to fly into it. "Oh, and I'm taking these combat robots with me. You don't mind, do you?"
Tony watched the slowly closing portal, somewhat speechless: "You've already taken it all, and you didn't even give me a chance to complain."
Moreover, given how energetic Gerr is, how could the half-crippled Tony and Rhodes dare to have any objections? If Gerr were to accidentally tear them both apart, they would be completely powerless to resist.
Back home, Gel noticed that Pietro and Wanda hadn't returned yet, so he opened the portal to the New York Clock again. There he saw Wanda sprawled on the floor, Peter and Pietro sitting down, and five other people sprawled on the floor in the distance, one of whom was Professor Kurt.
"Wanda, are you alright?" Gel was completely taken aback by what had happened; Wanda was lying on the ground, utterly bewildered.
Pietro waved his hand and came to Ger: "Wanda is fine, she's just exhausted."
Pietro recounted what had just happened, and Ger listened attentively. Then he looked at Pietro and Wanda—he used to think of them as children, but in reality, they had grown into adults capable of standing on their own.
