Chapter Twenty-Eight: New Discoveries in Battle

Kaecilius almost burned a companion to death with this spell before, but the Ancient One stopped him in time and saved the man. Later, the Ancient One strictly forbade Kaecilius to use this spell in Kamar-Taj again, but unexpectedly, Kaecilius still used it today.

For a moment, many mages looked at Casillas with fear, terror, and anger in their eyes, and some even couldn't help but remind Gel.

The Ancient One waved his sleeve, and none of the surrounding warnings were heard.

“Sorcerer Supreme, we must stop Kaecilius.” Mordo took a step toward the Ancient One. “Kaecilius is cruel and ruthless; the demons within him have consumed him!”

“This Ger is a formidable opponent. Casillas only used his full strength. What’s wrong with that?” one of Casillas’s henchmen stepped forward.

Modu glared at him and gripped the magical artifact in his hand tightly.

The Ancient One stopped the somewhat indignant crowd and simply said, "Keep watching."

Around Gel, fireballs crashed into the magical shield and were annihilated. Gel also ejected bursts of magical energy, shattering many of the fireballs.

"Bang!"

One of the super-fiery fireballs, hidden among the many fireballs, quietly collided with Geer's magic shield and then suddenly exploded. The magic shield around Geer trembled violently. The super-fiery fireball after the explosion did not disappear, but instead dispersed into a layer of flames that clung to the magic shield and continued to burn fiercely.

Gel increased the energy supply to the magic shield, but a moment later, another super-fiery fireball struck the magic shield next to Gel. The magic shield shook even more violently than before, and a layer of raging blue flames now covered the magic defense shield.

Ger's body trembled violently, his face turning slightly red. Ger gritted his teeth, opened up the magic shield, and simultaneously created a spatial rift beneath his feet.

At the same time, the enlarged magical shield collided with the remaining super-fiery fireballs. Instantly, the magical shield began to shake violently, and the mages watching from afar instinctively held their breath.

It seemed that the magic shield would collapse at any moment.

At the critical moment, Casillas abandoned his pretense, rose, and moved near Geer. Raising his right hand, he unleashed a barrage of fireballs at Geer. He was determined to use this "last straw" to break the magical shield and kill Geer before he could escape through the spatial rift!

Unbeknownst to anyone, Gel, who was in the middle of the flames, suddenly paused, then raised an eyebrow and looked at the surrounding magical protective shield.

A moment later, seemingly having discovered something, Ger pretended to be exhausted and quietly dispersed the spatial hole beneath his feet, while simultaneously controlling the magical defensive shield to shrink inwards.

The blazing flames made the "weak" Geer inside look all the more pitiful.

The onlookers were filled with fear and anxiety, but only the Ancient One sensed the state of the magical shield and smiled gently.

A constant stream of fireballs crashed into the magical shield, causing it to undulate wildly, like a small boat adrift on a turbulent sea, seemingly about to capsize at any moment.

But this precarious magical shield held firm and did not break. Gradually, the expressions of many mages watching the battle began to turn strange.

Damn it!

Blinded by rage, Casillas was completely oblivious to anything amiss. His eyes were bloodshot with fury.

Why is it that it's about to break, but that damned magic shield just won't break?

Kaecilius sensed that most of his magical energy had been depleted and took a deep breath—the energy borrowed from the sling ring wasn't inexhaustible; it required his own magical energy as a catalyst. If his magical energy was exhausted, he naturally couldn't borrow any more energy from the sling ring.

Kaecilius stared sharply at the magic shield, and through it he saw Gale. The moment their eyes met, Kaecilius narrowed his eyes, finally making up his mind, and began to form hand seals again.

But he didn’t notice that the pale blue flames that were originally burning on the magic shield, which belonged to the super fireball, had completely disappeared, and the flames on the magic shield were now only a deep red!

"Super Fireball!"

After Kaecilius shouted, several super-fiery fireballs streaked across the sky like shooting stars, accompanied by a surging wind, and rapidly approached Gale's magic shield.

At this moment, Casillas finally exhausted his magical energy, staggered, and almost fell to the ground.

Gasping for breath, Casillas was extremely pleased with himself, but his expression quickly froze—Gale, who had been weak, slowly straightened up, as if his previous weakness had never existed. The upright Gale looked at him mockingly through the magical shield, seemingly muttering something. Casillas deduced from his lip movements that Gale was saying, "So stupid, really."

Before Casillas could even understand what was happening, he witnessed a scene that shocked him: the magical shield that had been surrounding Gel suddenly dissipated, turning into clusters of energy that enveloped the approaching super-fiery fireball.

Then, the super-fiery fireball gradually shrank in his sight, while the gray energy enveloping it slowly intensified.

Is it being absorbed?

Casillas stared at Geer, his mouth agape in disbelief. This was a super-fiery fireball; he'd only ever heard of it being shattered, never absorbed.

The mages watching from afar finally understood what had just happened, and their gazes toward Gel became even stranger—from the beginning, Gel knew that his magic could absorb the super fireball, so he pretended to be weak, hoping that Kaecilius would "work harder" so that he could absorb more energy.
