"Hello, may I sit here?"
As Gerl sat in the coffee shop, watching the passersby outside, a deep voice suddenly came from above. Gerl looked up and saw a slightly burly Black man wearing an eyepatch over one eye. His eyes then darted to the side, and Gerl realized that besides the two of them, there was no one else in the coffee shop; even the staff who should have been at the counter were nowhere to be seen.
But Ger didn't seem to care at all. He simply put down his coffee cup and replied with a smile, "Of course."
“Gale Maxinov, born in Sokovia in 1989, lost his parents in the war and is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Imperial University. He has a younger brother, Pietro, and a younger sister, Wanda, who is currently a 12th-grade student at Boulden High School. On April 16, 2008, he first teamed up with Peter Parker as the Wizard in White and Spider-Man, fighting for justice.” The man clearly recited Gale’s past, then introduced himself, “Hello, I am Nick Fury, the current Director of the Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency, also known as S.H.I.E.L.D. We are affiliated with the International Security Council and specialize in handling all kinds of paranormal events.”
Listening to Director Nick recount his information in great detail, Gel even considered doing the same and exposing Nick Fury's secrets, but he restrained himself and simply smiled at Director Nick.
At that moment, a person pushed open the door of the coffee shop and walked over with documents in hand.
"Wow, you've changed your style today, you look beautiful." Ger turned around and saw that the woman who had come in was, unsurprisingly, Natasha.
Unlike her usual relaxed, homey style, Natasha wore a tight-fitting leather jumpsuit today, which accentuated her already great figure. Combined with her free and easy burgundy curly hair, she looked even more beautiful than usual.
Natasha walked over to Director Nick, sat down, and placed two files next to Gel: "Let me reintroduce myself, Natasha Romanoff, from S.H.I.E.L.D."
Gel nodded, his expression unchanged, picked up a file beside him, and began to read. The file name was "The Avengers".
After looking at it for a while, Ger put down the document, feeling somewhat emotional: Just like in the movies he had seen in his previous life, this Avengers plan was precisely to assemble a group of people with powerful abilities to resist the invasion of various dark characters.
Then, Gel picked up another file, opened it, and found very little text inside. Judging from the text, it was Natasha's evaluation of him: "His personality is generally stable, he possesses a universal belief in saving lives, and has a very strong sense of family (he needs to be more careful to control his emotions here). He's mature beyond his years (scratch that), and has a more mature perspective than his peers. Overall assessment: Suitable to join the Avengers."
After reading the review, Geer was both amused and exasperated. Natasha could have easily rewritten it, but she insisted on submitting this rather "mischievous" version.
Seeing that Ger smiled, Natasha breathed a sigh of relief.
"How many members are there in the Avengers right now?" Gel asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
Director Nick was also very straightforward: "You are the first member."
Upon hearing this, Ger was genuinely astonished: "I'm the first member?"
As he spoke, Ger looked at Natasha beside him.
Director Nick Fury nodded and then explained, "Natasha is our agent, and she is not yet a member of the Avengers."
As for Tony, he is still troubled by palladium poisoning and his personality is unstable, so he is still in a period of consideration.
When Gol saw Nick Fury's definitive answer, he was somewhat moved: he never expected that he would become the first member of the Avengers.
As adults, there are some questions we need to clarify: "What benefits will I get from joining the Avengers, or what am I required to do?"
Director Nick Fury explained, "The Avengers are a relatively loose organization, only handling unusual cases like the Lizard Man. If other missions are assigned to you, we will fully respect your decision. As for the benefits, you will gain a legitimate identity, and no one or organization will make things difficult for you regarding your identity in the future. Of course, if you need it, you will also receive a substantial monthly salary. Later, if you need any equipment for research or other needs, you can also apply to us."
Gel nodded without asking too many questions. After all, to gain corresponding benefits, one must pay an equal price: "I know that I have been using mind magic and settling in America without your notice. Even the minor troubles that Pietro and Wanda have caused by secretly using magic over the years should have been settled by you."
Seeing Nick Fury nod, Gail continued, "I am very grateful to S.H.I.E.L.D. for not disturbing my siblings and me, and for giving us so many years of peace. Therefore, I agree to join the Avengers."
Director Nick and Natasha never expected things to go so smoothly; even the arguments they had used to persuade Ger were said by Ger himself.
But their years of experience as secret agents made it easy for them to tell from Gore's expression that he wasn't lying. So Director Nick extended his hand to Gore: "Nice to work with you!"
Gel extended his hand and shook hands with Director Nick: "It's a pleasure working with you!"
Then silence fell again. Gle knew that Director Nick hadn't left, so he must have something to discuss with him. So he waited leisurely for Director Nick to speak.
