Chapter 70 Capturing Pierce the Winter Soldier
In spring, the roadsides are usually lined with lush green grass swaying in the wind, and this wide, winding road is no exception. Perhaps because the road is so remote, only one seemingly ordinary white sedan is speeding along it at this moment.
Inside the vehicle, Pierce gazed at the roadside scenery, letting the breeze toss his slightly graying hair. Beside him sat a robust Black man with disheveled hair.
If Peter were here, he would recognize this black man as the only Winter Soldier who escaped the explosion while escorting Pierce at Pierce's villa.
"A major explosion occurred at S.H.I.E.L.D. today. The scene is under control, but through the cameras..."
Pierce listened quietly to the sounds coming from the car stereo. By this time, he had lost contact with all the Hydra agents who had scattered and fled, so he had no idea how many people had been captured.
However, knowing Ger's abilities, he knew that someone must have already been captured.
He hadn't expected things to develop to this point, but he didn't care. In his plan, this wasn't the most important step.
As he was thinking, for some reason, Pierce felt uneasy. He turned to look ahead, where there was only a wide road and an endless expanse of blue sky and white clouds.
Suddenly, Pierce's gaze sharpened.
In their line of sight, a person enveloped in gray energy descended from the sky, landing far in front of their vehicle. Then, the person slowly straightened up, two swirling balls of gray energy in his hands!
Pierce recognized him instantly; it was Gol.
Even from this distance, Pierce could clearly see the anger and murderous intent flashing in Gol's eyes.
"Stop the car!" Pierce's pupils contracted sharply as he leaned forward and said to the driver.
The driver had already stepped on the brakes the second he saw Geer.
But it was too late. The vehicle, which was traveling at high speed, came to a sudden stop as if it had hit an extremely solid transparent glass.
"Bang!"
A loud crash rang out, the headlights shattered, and the car flipped over, crashing into the transparent glass. Pierce's body was thrown uncontrollably upwards.
The Winter Soldier sitting next to him suddenly yanked off his seatbelt, then kicked the car door open, landing Pierce on the ground beside him.
In the distance, Ger was walking towards them step by step. Although he walked without making a sound, Pierce inexplicably felt as if he could hear the sound and sensed an extremely strong sense of oppression.
"The spatial wall appears."
The deep voice slowly reached Pierce's ears, and then Pierce discovered that a layer of transparent "glass" had suddenly appeared between him and the Winter Soldier.
Then, Pierce looked around and found small round holes appearing around him. The suicide potion and suicide device on his body automatically detached and flew towards the round holes, which then disappeared instantly.
“Spatial wall, spatial gate,” Pierce murmured, then glanced at Gel with a blank expression.
"Bang!"
The slaughter on the Winter Soldier unfurled its black tentacles and slammed them violently against the spatial wall.
In an instant, the spatial wall shattered, and the Winter Soldier stood beside Pierce, protecting him.
“Long time no see, Gol.” Pierce looked at Gol, a smile even appearing on his face.
Gel didn't speak, but simply opened a spatial portal. A moment later, Nick, Peter, Banner, Betty, Bruce, and Hawkeye walked out!
"roar!"
"roar!"
"roar!"
Three loud roars rang out simultaneously, and Banner, Betty, and Bruce instantly transformed into the Hulk, She-Hulk, and Abomination.
The three slowly dispersed in three directions, and the venom on Peter's body instantly extended black tentacles, following Peter to one of the locations.
Wanda, who was flying in the sky, quickly descended, her hands surging with chaotic magic, and stood in a certain position.
Pierce and the Winter Soldier were surrounded by the Hulk, She-Hulk, Abomination, Gale, Wanda, and Peter, each of whom looked at them with cold and hateful eyes.
Hawkeye stood outside the encirclement, drew his bow sharply, and aimed at Pierce in the very center of the encirclement.
“Step aside, let me talk to Nick,” Pierce said to the Winter Soldier beside him, his eyes fixed on Nick.
His face wore a friendly smile, as if all the recent betrayals had never happened.
The Winter Soldier standing beside him nodded silently and retreated outside the encirclement.
Nick slowly emerged from behind Peter, walking to face Pierce with a complex expression. He remembered standing opposite Pierce many times before, but each time it was as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. Communicating as completely opposing sides, as he was today, was a situation he had never imagined.
A moment later, Nick asked the question he had been wanting to ask all day: "Why was I made the director of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Pierce, seemingly oblivious to Nick's complex expression, smiled slightly on his aged face: "Because you are the best and most ruthless person I know. Powerful weapons and the ability to control everything are what we pursue. Diplomacy? We have never believed in such a thing. There is not much difference between you sitting in this position and me sitting in this position."
"Then why start this operation all of a sudden?" Nick's eyes gradually turned serious. His trench coat swayed in the wind, making his already tall and strong figure appear even more imposing.
