Chapter 7: The Human Heart That Cannot Be Faced Directly
Ning Zhengyuan was driving and kept looking at the back seat. He had clearly agreed that Ning Jinghuai would go to Beijing with him, but he did not see Ning Jinghuai.
When he first got in the car, he wanted to ask where Ning Jinghuai was, but he held back when he saw Qing Yanrou with her eyes closed. Now that she had opened her eyes, he hurriedly asked, "Master Qing, where is the soul of my Jinghuai?"
"Oh, isn't he sitting there?" Qing Yanrou raised her chin and pointed to the empty passenger seat.
Chu Tingbai and Ning Zhengyuan looked over at the same time, and saw nothing there.
"Um, I forgot to give you the talisman paper." After saying that, Qing Yanrou took out two pieces of talisman paper from her bag and handed them to the two of them.
He then used a Yin Gathering Talisman to guide Ning Jinghuai to absorb the Yin Qi. After the absorption, Ning Jinghuai's soul became much more solid. The two people who got the talisman paper finally saw Ning Jinghuai sitting leisurely.
Seeing that they could see him, Ning Jinghuai smiled at them heartlessly.

They bought the tickets on the spur of the moment during the peak travel season, and there were only three business class tickets left, so Ning Jinghuai had to go on the journey.
It was already early morning when they arrived at the Beijing airport. Ning Zhengyuan had already told his wife after meeting Ning Jinghuai, so even though it was already early morning, Mrs. Ning still came to pick him up at the airport accompanied by bodyguards.
When Mrs. Ning saw them coming out, she hurried to greet them. Before she even had time to listen to her husband introduce Qing Yanrou, she tightly held Ning Zhengyuan's hand and looked around anxiously.
"No rush, this is Taoist Qing, we can talk about the rest when we get home." Ning Zhengyuan briefly introduced Qing Yanrou and then took Madam Ning in his arms, restrainedly kissing her on the top of her head. The group then took a car to the Ning family.
The rest of the people in the Ning family villa had been sent away by Mrs. Ning. The huge villa was brightly lit, and the only sound in the spacious living room was the woman's sad crying.
With the help of the talisman paper, Mrs. Ning was finally able to see and touch Ning Jinghuai, and she burst into tears while hugging him without any warmth.
Her son, who had been full of life not long ago, was now just a cold soul. Madam Ning almost fainted from crying.
The Ning family's father and son tried to comfort her clumsily. With the comfort of her husband and son, she finally calmed down. She took the water handed to her by her husband, took a sip, wiped her tears, and turned to face Qing Yanrou.
"I'm sorry, Master Qing, I lost my composure just now." Madam Ning took good care of herself. Even though she was over forty, she looked like a woman in her twenties. Ning Jinghuai's accident had caused her to look exhausted, and she had aged a lot during this period of time.
Although she cried at this time, perhaps because she saw Ning Jinghuai's soul, her overall state was much more energetic than when she was at the airport.
"Master Qing, Zhengyuan told me that you can help find the murderer who killed Jing Huai. As long as you can help find the murderer, I will agree to any conditions!"
Madam Ning regained her composure. She was usually gentle, but now her face was filled with rage. She spoke to Qing Yanrou with grief and indignation.
In the past seventeen years, Qing Yanrou had only performed simple rituals for people in the small towns around Chuanrong County, and collected wandering ghosts. She had never encountered anyone who died by metaphysical means, so she had never fought with anyone in magic.
Judging from the low-level talisman found at the corpse scene, the opponent's strength was relatively weak, and she was still confident in her own strength.
Meeting is fate. She had promised Ning Jinghuai before and she always kept her word, so she nodded solemnly to Madam Ning and said, "Please get me one of Ning Jinghuai's personal belongings, preferably one he uses frequently."
After hearing this, Mrs. Ning quickly got up and went to Ning Jinghuai's room to find what she needed.
"Mr. Ning, I asked you to take out the talisman paper from the scene before. Now you can give it to me."
When deciding to come to Beijing with them, Qing Yanrou instructed Ning Zhengyuan to get the talisman paper from the scene from the evidence department of the Criminal Investigation Brigade. Because of his identity and the fact that he was a relative of the deceased, the evidence department still gave him the talisman paper.
Mrs. Ning gave her a watch that Ning Jinghuai often wore.
Qing Yanrou bit her finger and dripped blood onto the talisman paper and the watch, then said to Ning Jinghuai, "You will feel a pulling sensation later. Don't be afraid, don't resist, just follow that force."
Before Ning Jinghuai could answer, he felt a strong force sucking his soul. Remembering Qing Yanrou's instructions, he did not resist and went with the force.
The other three people watched as Ning Jinghuai's soul suddenly and rapidly floated outwards. When the Ning couple chased after him, he was already nowhere to be seen.
Chu Tingbai was also worried. As soon as he stood up, he saw Qing Yanrou suddenly close her eyes and lean forward.
He quickly reached out and put his arm around her shoulders. Although he didn't know what was going on, considering what she had just said to Ning Jinghuai, he thought there was no big problem.
Chu Tingbai carefully straightened her up, let her lean against the sofa, and sat aside to prevent any other accidents.
Qing Yanrou separated her soul and followed Ning Jinghuai, passing through the villa area where the Ning family lived, crossing a green belt, and entering another high-end residential area.
Ning Jinghuai's soul was wandering in front of a building. Qing Yanrou walked to his side and looked at the building in front of him.
It was already early morning, and the entire community was pitch black except for the guard duty room.
"That power disappears here."
Seeing Qing Yanrou following him out, Ning Jinghuai spoke to her anxiously.
Qing Yanrou walked around the building and said to Ning Jinghuai, "Now, based on your intuition, which floor are you most reluctant to go to?"
After hearing this, Ning Jinghuai calmed down and carefully felt it, then said to her uncertainly, "The location on the thirteenth floor feels very dangerous to me."
Qing Yanrou touched the ground with her toes and floated upwards, stopping outside the window on the thirteenth floor. She casually folded a paper man and let it in through the gap in the window.
Through the paper figure, Qing Yanrou saw the layout of the room. It was pitch black. There was a scarlet spot in the living room, where three incense sticks were burning. A statue was enshrined in the main seat of the living room.
However, it was not the statue of the Three Pure Ones worshipped by ordinary Taoist priests, but a statue that Qing Yanrou had never seen before.
The statue looked compassionate, with eyes filled with sympathy, but Qing Yanrou felt very uncomfortable. The statue's eyes gave her a feeling of hypocrisy, and that look disgusted her.
He controlled the paper man and stopped looking at the statue, observing the other rooms. However, apart from the statue of unknown origin enshrined in the living room, there was nothing in the other rooms.
The paper man began to slowly move towards the master bedroom, squeezed in through the crack in the door, and vaguely saw a person lying on the bed, snoring. Due to the angle, the paper man could not see the person on the bed clearly.
The paper man climbed up from the bedside table next to him with a grunt, and saw a slightly fat middle-aged man lying on the bed.
Because she was facing away from the paper man and couldn't see his appearance clearly, in order to avoid alerting the enemy, Qing Yanrou attached the paper man to the end of the bed. Covered by the sheets, the man wouldn't be able to see him. After doing everything, Qing Yanrou returned to the ground.
Ning Jinghuai was afraid of the thirteenth floor and hadn't followed Qing Yanrou up. Seeing her return, he quickly approached her and asked, "Master, have you found anything? Is the person who harmed me on the thirteenth floor?"
Since things were going smoothly, Qing Yanrou looked more relaxed. She looked at him reassuringly and said, "If everything goes well, everything will be over tomorrow."
But when she thought of the statue of unknown origin, Qing Yanrou still frowned slightly.
