The doctor frowned. How could such an unprofessional thing as handing a work ID to a patient happen?
He memorized the name on the work permit and planned to report it to the supervisors later.
I still kindly decided to take back the work ID, since it wasn't very safe for the patient to have it. "I'll take you to the first floor, can you give me this?"
Upon hearing this, Fu Yao immediately looked at him warily and stuffed her work badge into her bosom.
That way, he wouldn't feel comfortable reaching out to take it.
She appeared to be just a mentally ill patient with low intelligence; she was thin and didn't seem aggressive.
With a "ding" sound, the elevator stopped on the first floor. He thought about it and decided to let it go, not wanting to cause trouble for himself. He decided to let the supervisors handle it.
The two walked out of the elevator one after the other. He looked back twice and saw Fu Yao standing there, seemingly waiting for someone, so he quickly left.
When the people from the supervision department arrived, they found the person was gone and muttered to themselves, "Hey, he was just here a moment ago. How could he have disappeared so quickly?"
A staff member from the supervision department pulled aside a security guard who was on routine patrol, but the man shook his head, indicating that he didn't know.
Suddenly, I noticed the nurse's work ID lying on the ground. "How did it get here?"
"Which floor did you see him come from?" a staff member from the supervision department asked.
The doctor recalled briefly, "The thirteenth floor, I just came down from a meeting there."
"I understand, we will investigate."
The supervisor put the work permit in his pocket, cut the internal line, and had someone notify the nurse to come to the supervisor's office to pick up her work permit.
Her colleagues on the same floor searched the restrooms and break rooms thoroughly but couldn't find any trace of her, which puzzled them.
Only after receiving feedback did the supervisors begin to locate the surveillance footage and discover that she had last entered Fu Yao's ward and then disappeared.
A nurse on the same floor received a phone call, pushed open the door to Fu Yao's ward, and found that the bedding, mattress, and pillows on the bed were stained red with blood, and the whole room was filled with the smell of blood.
Fu Yao had long since disappeared without a trace.
The nurse who came to check was so frightened that she fell to the ground and let out a piercing scream.
This caused a stir throughout the entire floor, and people began to flock to the area.
The two doctors who followed behind also felt a chill run down their spines upon seeing this scene, and their stomachs churned uncontrollably.
When the people from the supervision department went up to the 13th floor, the supervisor on the same floor was already pale-faced.
He spoke hastily, "The patient is missing, and the nurse is dead..."
"What?! The patient ran away?"
The supervisors were already trembling with fear when they heard the increased volume from the other end of the line, and they were even more terrified when they realized the patient's identity.
The phone rang abruptly, and even worse news came from the other end: "Director, we checked this work ID, and there are only three swipe records today. The last one was at the hospital gate, and the security cameras at the gate have tracked the patient down. He may have already run out of the hospital."
My heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally died.
The section chief's expression was as black as the bottom of a pot, and he looked somewhat agitated.
When Fu Yao first came in, Fu Quan and Fu Siming personally escorted her in. Now she's run away and even killed a nurse.
From any angle, it's practically a total disaster.
"First, calm the patient down and get them back to their room. Then call the police, and I'll contact their guardian."
He nervously dialed the number as he walked.
At this moment, Song Xingyao had already met with Gu Mai in the office.
Ever since hearing what Shi Yu had said that day, Song Xingyao has been observing Gu Mai's every reaction more closely, seemingly trying to find some flaws in his story.
Although he has a certain ability to conceal himself, Song Xingyao was still certain that he was not lying.
Gu Mai asked politely, "Dr. Song, may I ask you a question?"
Song Xingyao raised her head and glanced in his direction.
"Perhaps Mr. Fu hasn't told you about my situation?"
Without changing her expression, Song Xingyao put down her pen. "Mr. Gu, since you know my husband is Fu Siming, and you still came to see me, right? That proves that your business dealings haven't affected your decision to come to me for hypnotherapy. So why should I abandon a patient seeking treatment because of my husband?"
She disliked people's probing tone and retorted bluntly.
Gu Mai was not annoyed by her slightly prickly response, but simply made a gesture of respect and said, "As expected of Dr. Song."
"However, I still wish you a long and happy life together." His frivolous tone and appraising expression made her feel very uncomfortable, so Song Xingyao simply stopped responding and quickly lowered her head to finish the preliminary procedures.
Gu Mai was unusually quiet and finished drinking the water in his cup.
But his heart was not as calm as the atmosphere inside the room; beneath his habitually slightly upturned lips lay unease and anxiety.
Even when he was first thrown into the wild for survival training, he had never felt this way before.
Because of nervousness, he felt a tingling sensation in his palm for the first time. He scratched it hard to relieve the sensation.
When Fu Siming received the call from the section chief, he was on his way back to Tiansheng from the outskirts of the city.
"Hello."
The person on the other end heard the call connect, uttered only one syllable, and then fell silent. Then, it sounded like the other person took a deep breath.
Fu Siming held his phone a little further away, saw the name on the screen, and sat up a little straighter.
"What's wrong?" The tone carried the authoritative air of a superior.
The section chief became even more nervous upon hearing this and blurted out all the words he had been holding back.
The driver felt the temperature inside the car had dropped, and through the rearview mirror, he saw his anger turn into unease.
After he hung up the phone, a murderous glint flashed in her cold eyes. "Go to the People's Hospital!"
"Drive faster!"
"yes!"
Upon hearing on the phone that Fu Yao had escaped, my first thought was that Song Xingyao was in danger.
He picked up the phone and called Pei Jing. As soon as the call connected, before he could even greet him, he heard Fu Siming's anxious tone, "Take a few people and go find Song Xingyao. The mental hospital said Fu Yao ran away. I'm on my way from the outskirts of the city right now. Report to me immediately if anything happens."
Pei Jing knew the urgency of the task, so he put down what he was doing and quickly got to work.
In the hospital corridor, Fu Yao was muttering something to herself. She was wearing a plain-colored inner layer, and her eyes were scanning around blankly, as if she was looking for something.
Just then, Lolo finished fetching water and letting out some fresh air from the experiment. Seeing that her behavior was a bit strange, she stepped forward to block her.
"Miss, this is the laboratory area; outsiders are not allowed to enter. May I ask what brings you here?"
It turned out to be a very thin woman, muttering something to herself.
She felt that this person looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before.
