Chapter 236 Some Unconscious Behaviors

The car was parked in the Qiao family's underground garage, but Qiao Yiyang, contrary to her usual behavior, got out of the car, took the keys, and prepared to go out.

Qiao Yiming asked in confusion, "Brother, where are you going?!" But he didn't hear a response and started the engine and drove away.

He yelled at the back of the car that had already driven a short distance away: "You have to remember what you promised me!!!"

"Tch, that's strange. Everything was fine just now, why the rush?"

She muttered to herself, lifting her skirt as she got on the elevator.

In the living room, Qiao's parents sat chatting. Qiao's mother's gaze fell on her slightly disheveled skirt, and she stood up: "Ming'er, why didn't your brother come back with you?"

"Him? I don't know. He just got back and then drove out again. Maybe something happened at the company?"

I just made up some excuse to brush it off.

Qiao Yiming turned to go upstairs, but his mother stopped him, "Why didn't you mention that there would be a performance on stage tonight?"

"...Uh, it was an accident, I was just filling in." She thought to herself, of course she didn't say it beforehand, she only found out before going on stage.

They were somewhat relieved that they only saw the news about her going on stage to save the day, and they thanked Anna a thousand times over, and thanked themselves a thousand times over for being willing to go on stage to save the day.

Qiao Yiming's guilty conscience was mistaken by his mother as a post-banquet syndrome—exhaustion. Although Qiao's parents had rarely had such formal occasions since they went on their trip, they still understood how tiring such activities were.

Mrs. Qiao didn't ask any more questions. "I've already had the water prepared in the bathroom. Take a nice bath and relax."

"I love you, Mommy!" She made a kissing gesture with her finger.

"I'm going upstairs first." Then she hurriedly went upstairs, lifting her skirt.

He parked his car downstairs at Anna's house, but he still didn't know why he had come all this way.

I pinpointed the exact window of her house and saw that the curtains let in a warm yellow light from the lamp inside.

He looked at the call on his phone, but then put the phone away.

What's going on? Qiao Yiyang didn't understand. Was it because Uncle Qin brought his daughter to toast her at the party, jokingly offering to play matchmaker for the two of them? Or was it because of what Qiao Yiming said tonight?

Am I really starting to want to find a woman?

The temperature wasn't low at night, and even after those symbolic sips of champagne at the party, my mind was still clear.

But now, with this irrational behavior, what excuse can he possibly give?

As I turned to leave, a tentative voice came from behind, "Boss Qiao?"

Anna, wrapped in a fleece blanket and holding a bag of trash, just stared at it.

At first glance, she thought she was seeing things, but the car looked quite familiar to her.

What are you doing here?

Qiao Yiyang never expected that she would also be unable to leave in time. She turned around, glanced at her, and coughed twice.

"I was just passing by..."

Anna obviously wouldn't believe that his place was worlds apart from Qiao Yiyang's villa in the wealthy district.

"...I was just about to ask if you'd be free to be my date at the Chamber of Commerce's dinner party?"

He pulled out the most compelling reason from his mind to extricate himself from the predicament.

The embarrassment of being exposed vanished instantly.

He closed the car door he had just opened and approached her.

Anna instinctively moved the trash in her hand further away.

This action looked like she had taken a half step back, which displeased Qiao Yiyang, so she took a larger step and got even closer to her.

The warmth from the man's body was carried by the evening breeze to a spot very close to Anna's cheek, and Anna suddenly felt her face become a little warmer.

"You came all this way just to talk about this? You could have just sent me a message about this."

The man above her heard this sentence, which was tantamount to "agreement," and a smile curled at the corners of his mouth where she couldn't see it.

But Anna didn't want him to think she was indiscriminate, so she added, "I mean, Mr. Joe, you've helped me with so many things, so I'll definitely agree to do something as small as this."

Is it just my imagination? The man above me seems a little unhappy.

She quickly distanced herself from the two, threw the trash in her hand into a trash can five meters away, and then ran back.

With the trash no longer an obstacle in her hands, Anna finally relaxed.

She could smell a very faint, sweet champagne scent on him, and looked up at him: "Mr. Qiao, have you been drinking?"

"I only took a few sips." His dark eyes lingered on her as he obediently answered her question.

"Not even a little bit. Then don't drive. Wait for me, I'll take you home."

She glanced at her own bizarre outfit: pajamas draped with a blanket.

"Um, I'll go back and change my clothes."

As a result, Qiao Yiyang was sitting on the sofa in her living room.

His long arms and legs seemed somewhat out of place in this small house. Anna thought: Sure enough, some people are obviously meant to live in a palace.

Home is a private space, especially for women, which is probably why Qiao Yiyang didn't refuse her invitation; he was very curious.

Looking around at the furnishings, she decorated the small three-bedroom apartment very warmly, with a group photo of the mother and her two daughters on the TV cabinet.

The bookshelf was neatly arranged with reference books and sheet music.

There was an old-fashioned piano that had been wiped clean next to it.

When Anna came out after changing her clothes, she found him looking at some of the ornaments on the bookshelf.

“Those are all Ye’er’s things. When she first went to college, she became obsessed with these things. Every week when she came back, she would bring these things with her. They piled up and the cabinet was almost full.”

The emotion hidden in her calm tone silenced Qiao Yiyang.
