Chapter 237 Gu Mai's Hypnotherapy

Looking at his expression that left no room for refusal, Anna thought to herself: Every time I took Qiao Yiming home when he was drunk, it was later than this.

Anna had a feeling that something was off about him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Maybe men are just more difficult to deal with when they're drunk? Anna didn't want to argue with him, so she agreed.

Lying in bed, Qiao Yiyang wondered when it started that she had been doing more and more of these convenient things: helping her out, going to her house on the way, and dealing with her alcoholic father.

The next day, to avoid suspicion, Anna still didn't let Qiao Yiyang take her to the entrance of the film set.

After all, he's the brother of one of the artists he manages and his boss. Given the nature of the entertainment industry, gossip could easily spread, which wouldn't benefit either of them.

Anna felt surprisingly guilty when Qiao Yiming greeted her warmly.

Qiao Yiming saw a car flash by; it looked so familiar.

Thinking to myself: Isn't this my brother's car? How did it end up on my film set?

I only found out this morning that Qiao Yiyang hadn't come home all night. Even my parents only found out this morning that he hadn't returned all night, but they didn't say anything.

This prompted Qiao Yiming to complain sourly, "Why didn't you care when my brother didn't come home all night? Ugh... This is outrageous! I'm such a grown man! Don't I have any freedom anymore?!"

Qiao Fu gave her a knowing look. Qiao Yiming immediately became obedient, after all, she had a criminal record of "indulging in pleasure and entertainment" when she was young and abroad.

Still unwilling to give up, she insisted on dragging Qiao Yiyang into it: "But he's still an older bachelor, and you guys don't care..."

Qiao's parents exchanged a glance and then remained silent.

After this incident, Song Xingyao was kept at home by Fu Siming for almost a whole week to rest. She was only allowed to return to work at the hospital once the scabs on her hands started to fall off.

I originally thought that after this incident, Gu Mai wouldn't come to me for hypnosis so soon.

But as soon as I arrived, Luo Luo told me that the handsome guy from last time was already waiting for me in the meeting room.

Although he concealed it well, Song Xingyao could still see the urgency hidden in his eyes at a glance.

Gu Mai glanced at her hand. "I suppose Dr. Song's hand has recovered quite well under President Fu's care?"

"Thank you for your concern. I didn't expect you to be in such a hurry."

As she spoke, she took out a consent form for hypnotherapy from the drawer.

Gu Mai reached out to take it without hesitation. "Of course, would Dr. Song be so calm and unconcerned if he lost something?"

Song Xingyao looked at him: "What if all the lost memories are painful?"

"Then there's no need to retrieve it. Forgetting painful things through hypnosis doesn't quite align with your treatment philosophy, Dr. Song."

His eyes held a firmness and determination that, for the first time, almost made her believe that Gu Mai actually remembered everything.

This was the first time Song Xingyao had conducted hypnosis with a known hypnotic content for the patient.

Perhaps because he grew up in the Sigour family, Gu Mai is not the type to relax easily, and even the time it takes to enter actual hypnosis is longer than that of other patients.

Only after entering a deep hypnotic state did Song Xingyao begin to ask him, "Did you see the figure in your dream? Look ahead and see what she looks like."

He seemed to be running with all his might, and large beads of sweat appeared on Gu Mai's forehead.

"Moon...Moon...No..."

The name Gu Mai murmured finally convinced Song Xingyao that Zhuo Yue's death was indeed related to him.

"Father...no, please let her go...I will never have anything to do with her again."

His brows were furrowed, and a pleading voice escaped his lips, his words revealing unconcealed terror.

"I really... I really won't have anything to do with her anymore..."

Song Xingyao felt like a police officer interrogating a criminal suspect, listening to him express his remorse.

It's unclear what Gu Mai saw on the experimental bed, but he suddenly started breathing heavily, a weak "No...no..." escaping his throat, the bulging veins on his neck making him seem like he was about to suffocate.

Seeing this, Song Xingyao stopped the hypnosis session, reached out to feel his pulse, and pressed an abrupt alarm.

Gu Mai sat up abruptly on the experimental bed, breathing in large gulps of fresh air to ease his discomfort. He felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

The dark curtains had been drawn back by Song Xingyao, letting in the light from outside. The pure white furnishings in the room were bright, but he felt as if he had been drowning, unable to find the surface or the way out.

"Are you alright, Gumai?"

He hesitated, staring blankly, and didn't speak; this expression seemed out of place for the man.

Most of the people who come to her for consultation are there to forget their pain, but Gu Mai's expression is unfamiliar, painful, and also has a kind of melancholy and loneliness.

This hypnosis could not be called therapy in the first place. Song Xingyao knew this when she was hypnotizing her, because without any therapeutic purpose, it was as if she was spying on another person's private space.

Until Gu Mai left the office, he did not answer any of the questions raised by Song Xingyao.

As he crossed the bridge, he wondered if she wouldn't have jumped if he had been there.

He heard Lauren coldly announce to him the news of Zhuo Yue's death and the details of the memorial service.

My father said: Remember her death. She died because of you. If you want to sit in this position, don't covet things like feelings and women.

"Ah—ah!" he suddenly screamed, but unfortunately, there were only cars flowing by on the road. Occasionally, one or two passersby would look across the street at the man who was screaming and looked mentally unwell, but no one dared to approach him.

The phone in his pocket rang; it was his assistant from country S calling. He didn't answer until the ringing stopped, a look of disgust appearing on his face.

His head felt like it was going to explode. He desperately wanted to go back to familiar places, but this was Jiangcheng, not S country.

He felt a constant, sharp, stabbing pain in his brain, and he desperately needed something to numb it.

The last phone call he made before regaining consciousness was to instruct his assistant to prepare for his return trip to country S.

The assistant had been anxious all day. The more he assisted Gu Mi, the more he discovered. Today, he had called Gu Mi to ask for instructions, but he heard him drunk and talking incoherently about arranging his return to China.

Two days later, after Song Xingyao finished writing the report on hypnotherapy, she looked at the contents of the folder and clicked the send button.

In fact, she could almost piece together the answer from those words, but she didn't think about why the old master of the Si family would go to such lengths to harm an innocent girl, just because she got close to the heir he was grooming?

Shi Yu's name lit up on the screen.
