Chapter 243 Gu Mai: It'll be over soon

Worried that the old man would upset himself, Fu Ting stayed a while longer before leaving.

His mind was filled with thoughts of how to resolve the rift between the Fu family and the two brothers.

They had no idea that someone had just been outside the door.

There was no sound from inside the room, so Fu Bowen quickly left the study, his mind filled with Fu Mingtang's words.

My heart was pounding with a feeling of suffocation and resentment because of what I had just heard.

Why should they feel inferior to Fu Siming just because it's a loophole?

He didn't believe that Fu Siming could build Tiansheng to such a scale without having done many dirty deeds. He thought that the Fu family had grown so big without using any underhanded methods.

Inside the main house, Song Xingyao and her family of three had already gone upstairs. Jiang Man saw him rushing to leave and asked, "Bowen, aren't you going to stay at home for the night? Why are you in such a hurry?"

Hearing Jiang Man's question, Fu Bowen composed himself and smiled, "No, I have some things to take care of at the company. I need to go back first."

Seeing that he was indeed in a hurry to leave, Jiang Man said helplessly, "Fine, you should learn from your dad. All you ever think about is company work. It's not like you need a little more time for those things."

All I heard was a hurried "Okay" before they left.

Jiang Man found it strange and noticed that Fu Ting had also returned from the old man's place. She asked, "How is Dad's health? He said his blood pressure was a bit high today, which is why he didn't come to eat. I was thinking that it was rare for Yao Yao to come back, so we could all have a meal together as a family. I didn't expect that even Bo Wen would come back, but he didn't even stay overnight and left in a hurry."

With the same expression, he repeated, "Bowen is back? When?"

Seeing that his expression was a little off, Jiang Man asked in confusion, "Just now, he said he was going to see Dad. Didn't you run into him? What happened? Why were you in such a hurry? You were already at the door."

Jiang Man didn't think much of it, but seeing the hesitant expression on her husband's face, she asked, "What's wrong?"

"Oh, it's nothing. The Fu family has indeed had some matters to attend to recently, and I think I might be going there in the next few days."

Fu Ting didn't tell his wife about the Fu family business, not wanting her to worry about the two brothers. More importantly, Jiang Man was straightforward, and if she knew what Fu Bowen had done, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she would come to teach her a lesson.

Feeling inexplicably guilty as his wife stared at him, he pulled her into his arms to distract her, saying, "Get some rest. Didn't we say we were going out with Xingyao tomorrow?"

After leaving the Fu family home, Fu Bowen drove directly to a private club. A young man arrived shortly after. Qin Bai, seeing the man looking sullen on the sofa, tactfully ordered a few beautiful women to bring over several bottles of fine wine.

I poured it for him myself.

She spoke with a hint of eagerness, "What happened to our CEO Fu? He looks so angry."

Fu Bowen found the title "President Fu" grating, recalling his father's doubts about his succession to the Fu family business.

He downed the fiery liquor in one gulp.

Although Qin Bai wasn't very smart, he roughly knew that the only person who could anger him like this was his mortal enemy, his younger brother. So he immediately fell silent, afraid of provoking him.

As he was pouring the wine, he suddenly remembered some things he had heard during his investigation of Song Xingyao some time ago.

He closed the distance between them and said mysteriously, "Brother Wen, I've heard something recently, I wonder if you have any clues?"

His thin lips touched the rim of the glass. Upon hearing his words, Fu Bowen squinted and gave him a look that said, "Spit it out."

Qin Bai: "When I was investigating Song Xingyao a while ago, my buddies told me that the Fu family and the Bai family lost a child more than 20 years ago, right? I heard that this matter is related to your Fu family. Brother Wen, have you heard about this?"

After calming down a bit, Fu Bowen continued drinking, his eyes turning cold. "Who told you that?"

Seeing the displeasure on his face, Qin Bai immediately smoothed things over, "No, I just heard it from others, Brother Wen, just take it as a joke, hehe."

Laughing, Qin Bai filled his cup to the brim and drank it all to shut himself up.

Qin Bai originally thought that if this matter were true, Fu Bowen might use it to deal with Fu Siming, and Song Xingyao and he would definitely not continue to be together.

After finishing his drink, Qin Bai felt a burning sensation in his esophagus and stomach, as if they were about to burst into flames.

So I made an excuse to go to the restroom.

Fu Bowen twirled his wine glass, pondering the "rumor" he had just revealed.

What if?

He took out his phone and made a call.

When Qin Bai returned, Fu Bowen was no longer in the private room, which relieved him.

So he called a hot woman to soothe his body, which was burned by the strong liquor.

While the Fu family was busy cleaning up Fu Bowen's mess, the Sige family in S country was already marveling at how Gu Mai's iron-fisted approach had saved their family from dire straits.

With the deadline promised by the royal family drawing ever closer, the managers of the collateral branches were all ruthlessly eliminating their right-hand men in order to preserve their own power and status.

It sounds cold and ruthless, but in the Scott family, such things happen almost every day.

At the last small meeting, Gu Mai and several heads of the district families sat in the study. They were people who usually enjoyed a life of luxury and extravagance, but now they looked as if they had personally experienced the hardships of life and appeared somewhat disheveled.

Gu Mai has been working non-stop for several days, and even his closest assistant doesn't know what he's been busy with.

Gu Mai glanced around and saw that everyone looked disheveled and displeased. Instead, he smiled easily and said, "It seems that all the family heads have suffered heavy losses this time? Is there something you're unhappy about regarding my promise to the royal family?"

The silence seemed to confirm the answer to both questions before Gu Mai continued, "I can see your determination to save Sige. I will personally report your achievements to the royal family tomorrow, and I am sure you will not have come here in vain."

There were mountains of documents piled up on the table, and he stood up as if to see the guest out.

But she still turned to her assistant and said, "Please arrange for the heads of the families to stay at the manor. I believe the royal family will want to know the news as soon as possible."

"Yes!" The assistant accepted the order, made a "please" gesture, and led the family heads out before glancing back at Gu Mai standing by the window.

Why are there so many people coming and going in the study lately? It seems like the head of the family is planning something, but even he himself has no idea. This situation has rarely occurred since he took the throne.

They had known each other for a long time, but even so, I was just an assistant and had no right to interfere.

He turned his gaze away from that lonely figure and closed the door for Gu Mai.

Beneath his haggard face, Gu Mai's lips curved into a clear smile. From this angle, the snow-covered bushes in the garden were clearly visible, open and bright.

"It'll be over soon," he murmured to himself, his voice echoing in the quiet room before finally reaching his ears.
