Chapter 269 Fu Bowen Loses Control After Drinking

In a basement in the suburbs, a girl was found with her hands tied and lying on the ground. Her clothes, just as they had been when she was brought in, were torn with huge rips.

If it weren't for the inner lining, nothing would be concealed.

My hair was a mess, pulled and stuck on my head.

After being tied up all night, her hands and feet were numb and her lips were extremely dry. She writhed on the ground a couple of times when the door suddenly opened.

A woman carrying a small tray came in, and the woman who had been wary relaxed a little.

Sun Xiaoxiao squatted down and tore off the tape over her mouth.

A red glue mark immediately appeared around my lips, which stung a little, but my breathing became much easier.

She helped her up. "Xiaofang, don't be stubborn. Eat something first."

Li Fang stared at the spoon that she was offered, and hesitated.

Sun Xiaoxiao knew what she was thinking, so she put the spoon in her mouth and took a bite herself first.

"Eat up, there's nothing in it."

Li Fang then opened her mouth and waited for her to feed her spoonful by spoonful. The two girls faced each other quietly, and neither of them spoke.

As soon as the last mouthful of soup and porridge reached her mouth, Sun Xiaoxiao got up to leave, and Li Fang watched her retreating figure.

Are you going to stay here indefinitely?

Sun Xiaoxiao froze on the spot, without saying a word.

Li Fang's voice grew louder, "They are demons, those greasy, pot-bellied men are no good at all. I want to go back, I don't want to be here anymore, please let me go, please."

Li Fang, who had been struggling desperately, was tied up for a day and a night. When she finally saw familiar people, she could no longer hold back.

The woman standing in front of her didn't answer her question or pay attention to her pleas for help. Instead, she turned to look at her and said, "Xiao Fang, don't fight against them. We can't do anything about it. Even if I let you go now, where can you go? No matter where we run, they can find us. Just give up."

The cold voice pierced Li Fang's heart. Sun Xiaoxiao was much older than Li Fang and seemed to have long been accustomed to life here, like a cold machine, without any thought of struggling.

"I don't want to see you like Yan'er. Don't yell. That way you won't need the tape, and you'll feel better."

After saying that, Sun Xiaoxiao turned and left, leaving Li Fang sitting there in a daze.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. The room was so cold. She had been overjoyed when she was brought out, thinking she would finally have a home, but instead, she was greeted with hellish days.

She moved from a place with inconvenient transportation to an even more remote and deserted place. There were many familiar faces in this big house. Mingming heard from Yang's mother that they also had parents and would live a good life in the future.

She clearly longed for such a life too, so why did she end up here?

She sat on the soft carpet, but still felt so cold...

The Fu family's old residence.

The old man sat in his study. Fu Siming rarely came back, but it wasn't just to keep the old man company.

Fu Siming knew that the old man had a good relationship with Commander Li when he was young, so he skipped the investigation and came directly to ask him.

Fu Mingtang took the cup he was offered. "So, what brings you here today?"

Fu Siming cut to the chase, "Grandpa, do you know Sun Jiming? He's Commander Li's son-in-law."

Perhaps it had been a long time since he had heard this name, for the old man raised one eyebrow. “Him? I know a little about him.”

"Li Zhi was initially the most opposed to his daughter marrying into the family. He thought the man had too many ulterior motives. But there was no way to stop him. He had his daughter completely charmed. Parents can't always resist their children's choices. Later, seeing that he was indeed sincere, he agreed."

After saying that, he seemed to remember something, "But this kid seems to be doing quite well. Old Li contacted me recently to talk about his son-in-law, but he still seemed quite dissatisfied."

After saying that, he looked up at Fu Siming and asked, "What's wrong?"

Fu Siming didn't hide anything: "He wants to cooperate with Tiansheng and wants the position of minister in the second half of the year."

"You don't want to." The old man spat out a tea stalk, frowned, and spoke firmly.

"Yes, I don't want to, but he seems determined to do it. I'm worried he'll harm Yao Yao and Xun." Fu Siming was only guessing; he hadn't yet found out what connection the project had with Sun Jiming.

Upon hearing him mention Song Xingyao, the old man shook his head. "Did Fu Quan say anything?"

With that one sentence, the room fell silent.

He shook his head, it was unclear what he was denying.

Although Song Xingyao returned to the Fu family, she didn't completely cut ties with him, which made him somewhat relieved, allowing him to have the energy to spare time to investigate Sun Jiming's matter.

Seeing this, the old man didn't say much. Looking at his silent expression, he spoke, "Don't let Xiao Song's appearance fool you; she's ruthless. If she didn't want to forgive you, she would have broken up with you long ago. Her current behavior is giving you a chance. You need to talk to her clearly. As for the Fu family, I'll find another opportunity to explain. After all, this matter has nothing to do with you younger generation; it's all in the past..."

He sighed.

Fu Siming said, "You should just stay here and rest. You're getting on in years, so don't worry about these things. I can handle it."

The old man reached out and patted him on the back. "I'm in good health! You're so busy, you might not be as healthy as me, and you're telling me not to worry about you."

She had originally wanted to ask how things were going with Fu Bowen's matter from a while ago, but seeing his worried and thoughtful expression, she didn't say anything and just waved her hand, "Let's go, let's go!"

Finally, he added a word of caution: "Sun Jiming is a very treacherous person. He acts two different things in front of others and behind their backs. Be careful."

"Um……"

It was a rare treat to see Fu Siming return, so Jiang Man immediately had someone prepare a soup to replenish his energy. Looking at the tired look on his face, she couldn't hide her worry.

Just as the dish was served, the servant's voice came from the doorway, "Young Master, you're back?"

Fu Bowen walked in, reeking of alcohol, and seemed to be quite out of it.

Jiang Man put down what she was carrying and walked over: "Why are you back at this hour? How much did you drink?"

Even from a meter away, I could smell the strong odor of alcohol on him.

Fu Bowen, as if losing his mind, shouted incoherently at Jiang Man: "Mom? You're talking to me now? Am I not good enough to drink now? Am I no better than your youngest son no matter what? Huh? Why are you all treating me like this? What do I lack compared to him? Do you have to kill him before you'll even look at me?"
