Chapter 28 Song Xingyao: Even the most beautiful dream must eventually end.

Fu Siming dialed Pei Jing's number.

Pei Jing answered the phone, his excitement evident in his voice: "President Fu, you've finally called back."

"How's the main banquet going?"

"...This is not good. Madam was furious when she called just now. The article was released by someone who had secretly scouted the time. It was deliberately arranged. The person has already been taken to Tiansheng. Do you want me to arrange for you to come back now? The flight route has been applied for and filed. It can take off at any time."

"I am now..."

Before he could finish speaking, the door to the emergency room not far away opened. The doctor came out and, seeing no one there, took a few steps before spotting Fu Siming standing there. He went up to him, interrupted his call, and said, "The surgery was very successful. He only needs to be observed for one more day. If there are no problems, he can be transferred to a regular ward."

When Fu Yao was wheeled out, her face showed no emotion; she was as calm as if she were fast asleep.

"I'll arrange for a caregiver to come over; I have some urgent business to attend to and need to leave now."

Hearing this, the doctor became anxious. "She needs someone to be with her right now. Aren't you her husband? She's very emotionally unstable. If you leave now, what will happen if she tries to do something rash after she calms down?"

Upon hearing the word "husband," Fu Siming was somewhat taken aback, but quickly realized, "I am not his husband."

It's rather strange that this title made him feel betrayed.

But before he could think too much about it, the foreign doctor spoke up again: "Oh! Aren't you? She has 'husband' saved in her phone. But whether it is or not, it's true that she's very vulnerable right now. If you don't want another regrettable thing to happen, I suggest you stay and observe her condition before making any further decisions."

After saying that, the doctor left on his own, leaving the man still holding his phone, deep in thought.

Pei Jing's voice on the other end of the receiver woke him up.

"I can't go back right now. You don't need to go back to the Fu family. I'll call back and explain. Leave the person who spread the news in Tiansheng until I get back to deal with them."

"good."

While Fu Siming was considering who to tell first, Jiang Man and her husband were pondering how to cover up the rumors about Zheng Yan when someone shouted, "Someone has fainted!"

Upon hearing Old Lin's whisper, Old Master Fu was so angry that he slammed his chopsticks down, clutched his chest, and fainted.

The scene was in complete chaos. Fu Bowen and Fu Ting hurriedly sent people to the hospital, leaving only Jiang Man at the scene. When Song Xingyao returned to the main hall, she saw Old Master Fu being carried out on a stretcher and the father and son walking out in a hurry.

She wanted to go with them, but it would be pointless now. The main hall was noisy and chaotic, with Jiang Man directing people to come and go. The discussion gradually subsided as Song Xingyao entered.

When Jiang Man saw her, she was both anxious and angry. Why did this girl have to put herself in the spotlight? So she went up to her, put her arm around her hand, and walked onto the stage.

Song Xingyao's expression remained unchanged throughout her time on stage; she was still calm and composed, only the coldness of her palms betrayed her.

She walked steadily, step by step, with only the ends of her hair fluttering gently with each step, making her appear neat and agile. Everyone present was captivated by her gentle yet determined demeanor.

Jiang Man's first words were: "I'm sorry, thank you all for coming to my son and daughter-in-law's wedding banquet today. Due to some matters, Si Ming was unable to attend. For those of you present, especially the guests who have come from afar, if you wish to continue your sightseeing in Jiangcheng, you can ask your assistant to send the bill to the front desk of Fu's Group. The apology gift prepared for you will be delivered to your rooms by our staff later."

"Furthermore, it is extremely irresponsible to publish news based on an image of unknown origin and fabricated text. Our Fu family reserves the right to pursue legal action against such individuals. We also hope that everyone will take it with a grain of salt and not believe it too easily."

After speaking, she turned to look at Song Xingyao beside her, "This is Song Xingyao, the only daughter-in-law I, Jiang Man, have chosen! Finally, thank you all for coming today. It is the Fu family's fault for not being hospitable enough, please forgive us."

Everyone in the circle knows Jiang Man. Coming from a family with a strict tradition of officialdom, she is also known for her straightforward and decisive nature, which is one of the reasons why she can still do so well in high society despite not being very cunning.

She knows how to conduct herself and is decisive in her actions. Everyone says that coming from such a family, even if she is extremely pampered, she must also have a strong hand. No wonder everyone says that she is the only one who can keep Fu Ting under her thumb and make the Fu family treat her like a treasure.

In high society, there are both impeccably clean and doting husbands and families that are outrageously promiscuous and disgraceful. Everyone is used to it, and as long as the news doesn't get out, things won't escalate too much.

This is one of the reasons why Jiang Man did not cancel the wedding banquet after careful consideration. However, she did not expect that photos of Fu Siming and Fu Yao would be exposed at this time. It seems that this was intentional, with the aim of destroying the relationship between her son and daughter-in-law and making Song Xingyao give up.

The two returned to their private room on the top floor, finally a place where they could talk.

This room was originally reserved as a resting place for the young couple, but now it's no longer needed. All the exquisite details and romance have ended up in a dilapidated state with no one to appreciate them.

The huge room, which should have been filled with blessings and laughter, was instead filled with desolation.

After looking around, she was pulled by Jiang Man to sit on the sofa.

Jiang Man had always thought Song Xingyao was an incredibly composed girl, but the more composed she was, the more heartbroken she felt. She didn't say a word, but her eyes seemed to convey a thousand unspoken words.

“Mom. Perhaps this is the last time I’ll call you Mom.” Song Xingyao spoke up first.
