Li Hao didn't expect her to do this.
He reached out and supported her body.
"Li Hao," Sun Xiaoxiao called his name distantly, "Thank you for bringing me out to see such beautiful scenery today. What do you want to know from me?"
"Why do you think I brought you out for a reason?" Li Hao countered.
“I grew up in this kind of environment. No one is nice to anyone for no reason. Sun Jiming is nice to me because I can help him deal with those difficult businessmen. Zheng Zhonglai is nice to me because I can help him keep Sun Jiming in check. And what about you?”
A flash of lightning struck from behind her, making her eyes appear dark and dull, unlike the clear, bright gaze she usually had during the day.
Li Hao couldn't see her expression.
"During lunch, that woman mentioned Fu Siming, right? You're not really trying to help Sun Jiming. What do you want to know from me?"
This is the third time I've asked this question.
Li Hao finally understood why Sun Jiming valued her so much; she was very smart.
A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"You are very smart."
This compliment was sincere; Sun Xiaoxiao hadn't expected him to say something like that after holding it in for so long.
Suddenly feeling a bit awkward from being stared at by a man, she placed her palm on his chest, trying to get up and create some distance between them.
Completely forgetting that it was they who tackled the other person.
“Zheng Zhonglai is on the other side; we haven’t finished talking yet.” Li Hao pulled him back into his arms with a little force.
His pulling caused the car to shake slightly.
Sun Xiaoxiao pressed her face against his chest and could almost hear his heartbeat inside.
The man above spoke: "I brought you out today not entirely to find out anything from you. Since you know Fu Siming, you should know that he and Sun Jiming are mortal enemies. I know what Sun Jiming did, and you know it too. Do you want to follow him for the rest of your life?"
His voice was gentle and warm, and his chest rose and fell slightly as he spoke.
His heartbeat and his voice pounded into Sun Xiaoxiao's ears.
Seeing that she wasn't about to speak, Li Hao continued, "Sun Jiming brought girls from the orphanage out to solicit clients; that's a crime. You're a victim too. Are you going to just watch one person after another jump into this trap?"
Sun Xiaoxiao's expression couldn't hide her shock.
"You...you know..."
She looked up and met his gaze.
"You shouldn't be like this; you should be living an ordinary life."
Li Hao used one hand to stroke her back.
Her tears streamed down her cheeks and fell onto his chest, clinging to his skin through his shirt.
Zheng Zhonglai, sitting in the car, naturally witnessed the scene just now. He knew better than to go up and disturb them.
All I could do was sit in the car and wait for one cigarette after another.
Until I saw Sun Xiaoxiao get out of the car wearing a man's suit jacket, slowly walk over, and open the car door.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Zheng Zhonglai glanced at it.
Her reddened eyes and nose reminded her of her slow, deliberate movements just now.
Perhaps it's because they're reluctant to part with it.
What else could you possibly think about when a man and a woman make that kind of noise in a car?
He felt a tightness in his chest. He was the one who said he wanted her to leave, so why was he feeling so agitated?
The strong smell of smoke inside the car made Sun Xiaoxiao cough.
He then remembered to turn on the air ventilator inside the car.
I heard her let out a soft sigh of relief: "Let's go."
Li Hao sat in the car watching it drive away.
I remembered what Sun Xiaoxiao had said earlier.
"I have evidence. I'll bring it to you next time I come out."
Sun Xiaoxiao couldn't understand why she would open her defenses to a man she had only met three times.
If she loses the bet and Li Hao is indeed Sun Jiming's man, then she's doomed.
The girl in that villa will also die.
She belatedly felt afraid, watching the Cayenne in the rearview mirror eventually blur into the torrential rain.
When Director Yang left the orphanage, she only mentioned that there was a charity event in Taipei. Perhaps she was too busy to tell Liu Shanshan that she had taken Xiaoyu with her.
Liu Shanshan was thinking of using this as an excuse to get Song Xingyao to come to the orphanage less often.
To her surprise, Song Xingyao hadn't come over at all these past few days.
She felt much more relaxed, at least she didn't have to worry about that woman suddenly playing some tricks again.
It wasn't until the night after Yang Yi left the orphanage that Liu Shanshan, as usual, checked the number of people and discovered that Xiao Yu was missing.
Her first reaction wasn't to contact Yang Yi, but to close the door and interrogate the other people living with her.
Then another girl called out, "Xiaoyu has been taken away by Dean Yang!"
Liu Shanshan immediately called Yang Yi.
Yang Yi only realized he had forgotten to say it when he heard her hurried voice.
She said somewhat apologetically, "Oh dear, I'm sorry, Teacher Liu, I was in such a hurry that I forgot to mention. I brought Xiaoyu to the neighboring city to participate in this charity event, and I'll be going back in a couple of days."
"Ah... okay, we only found out some people were missing when we were counting heads tonight. Do you have any special events planned?"
Not knowing why she asked that, Yang Yi said, "No, it's just a regular charity event. This time, we were hoping to get some sponsorships in the education category so that the children could have better educational opportunities."
A loud crash came from the bathroom; something had fallen to the floor. Yang Yi peeked out and said, "I have to go now, I have things to do."
After hanging up the phone, Dean Yang went to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "Xiaoyu? What's wrong? Did you fall? Xiaoyu?"
Yang Yi called out three times, but there was no response from inside, so he started to get a little anxious.
She pushed the door open and found Xiaoyu lying on the floor, her wash cup lying on the ground, and her skirt stained with blood.
Terrified, she immediately grabbed her child and ran outside.
"Help! Call an ambulance for me!!!"
As she ran, she called for help in the hotel corridor. A cleaning worker pushing a cart saw the child in her arms and was so frightened that she immediately called 120.
The red light in the hospital operating room was on, making the corridor feel somewhat eerie.
Yang Yi hadn't had a chance to take Xiao Yu to the hospital yet, because there was a good children's hospital in a neighboring city, and she was planning to book an appointment with a specialist after the event tomorrow.
I never expected something like this to happen.
Her palms were sweating nervously, but her eyes looked somewhat lost.
how so?
Several doctors, looking hurried, rushed into the operating room for a consultation.
She then realized that Xiaoyu's illness seemed to be more serious than she had imagined.
A doctor came out, followed by a nurse.
Where is the guardian?
"Me!" Yang Yi realized someone was calling her.
"Doctor, what's wrong with my child?" she asked urgently.
"Who are you?" Seeing that Yang Yi was quite old, and this child looked very young, the doctor asked with a puzzled look.
“This child is an orphan, and I am the director of the orphanage.”
"Then sign here. This child's uterus is severely atrophied, and there is blood in the abdominal cavity. The uterus needs to be removed."
The doctor's words struck Yang Yi like a thunderbolt. "What?!"
