Chapter 81: The Snipe and the Clam Fight
Chi Muzhen pushed open the door of the ward and saw Jin Yi standing beside Shen Tian's bed. A look of astonishment flashed in her eyes.
When he saw her, Jin Yi's expression became somewhat unnatural, and he called her "sister-in-law" in a dry voice.
Shen Tian glanced at Jin Yi coldly, "Can you leave now?"
Jin Yi pursed his lips and whispered, "I'll come see you again in the afternoon."
"No, I don't want to see you."
Jin Yi paused for a moment before leaving, then quickly left the ward.
Chi Muzhen put breakfast on the table and asked, "How did Jin Yi know that you were in the hospital? Are you still in contact?"
"I don't know. I'm just annoyed by him now. Don't even mention him. It's bad luck!"
After taking a few deep breaths, I finally calmed down.
"By the way, I'm fine too. I'll go get discharged from the hospital and go back to work this afternoon."
Chi Muzhen frowned and said with some concern: "It would be better for you to rest for two more days."
"No, I know my own body."
Seeing her insistence, Chi Muzhen didn't know what to say, so he nodded and said, "Do you need me to accompany you later?"
"No, go to work."
Chi Muzhen nodded, "Okay."
In the afternoon, Shen Tian really came to work.
Seeing that she was normal during meetings and walking, Chi Muzhen was finally relieved.
Near the end of the workday, Chi Muzhen received a call from Huo Yunting.
"Jin Yi wants to treat you to dinner tonight."
Thinking of Shen Tian's attitude towards him in the ward this morning, Chi Muzhen was silent for a while before speaking: "If you want me to help him get Shen Tian back, tell him not to waste his time. I won't help him."
She hasn't forgotten how Jin Yi treated Shen Tian when he was with Bai Xue Ning.
If Chen Tian could really forgive him and get back together with him, Chi Muzhen would have no objection, but asking her to help pursue Chen Tian was impossible.
"Okay, I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Jin Yi looked at Huo Yunting expectantly.
"How is it? What does my sister-in-law say?"
"She doesn't want to."
The expectation on Jin Yi's face instantly turned into disappointment.
"All right."
Huo Yunting showed no sympathy for him and said indifferently, "Think about all the bastard things you did before. If you weren't my brother, I wouldn't make this call for you."
Jin Yi gave a bitter smile, then looked at Huo Yunting and said, "It seems that your relationship with your sister-in-law hasn't been repaired very well. She doesn't even give you face."
"roll!"
…
In the evening, Chen Tian invited Chi Muzhen to dinner to thank her for saving her last night.
Both of them like hot pot, so they found a hot pot restaurant near the company.
While eating, Chi Muzhen noticed that Shen Tian was a little absent-minded and couldn't help but ask, "Tiantian, are you worried about something?"
Chen Tian sighed and said slowly: "You asked me about that thing last night, and I've thought it through. I plan to completely cut off ties with him, but I can't be so cruel as to send him in...Zhenzhen, do you think I'm useless?!"
Seeing the struggle and pain on her face, Chi Muzhen pursed her lips.
"Not everyone can be as cruel as me. You don't have to blame yourself. At least when your father didn't have a gambling addiction, he was pretty good to you."
Chen Tian looked at Chi Muzhen and said seriously, "Zhenzhen, you are not cruel at all. You comfort me when I am sad and stand up to save me when I encounter difficulties. To me, you deserve all the good things. It is the Chi family who are blind!"
Chi Muzhen smiled and said, "Let's not talk about these unhappy things. Let's eat."
"Um."
On the way back home after the two of them finished their meal, Chi Muzhen remembered that Huo Yunting had called her today, and casually said, "By the way, Jin Yi wanted to treat me to dinner today."
Shen Tian frowned, her eyes full of impatience.
"Just ignore him from now on. I've already made it very clear to him that I won't be with him anymore, but he's like a piece of dog-skin plaster that I can't get rid of!"
Chi Muzhen nodded, "Well, no matter what choice you make, I will support you."
After sending Shen Tian home, Chi Muzhen went straight back to the villa.
Huo Yunting was sitting in the living room, obviously waiting for her.
Chi Muzhen walked over to him and sat down. "Mr. Huo, what are you waiting for me for?"
"Grandma's birthday is coming soon. What do you think of a birthday gift for her?"
Chi Muzhen was silent for a while, then nodded and said, "Well, I've thought about it before. What are you going to give me, Mr. Huo?"
Huo Yunting frowned and looked at her, "Aren't we sending one together?"
Chi Muzhen's eyes flashed with surprise, "We used to send them separately every year."
"Then we'll start sending them together this year."
Chi Muzhen hesitated for a while and said, "We agreed before that we would divorce after your leg heals. There's no need for us to get divorced together..."
Before she could finish her words, Huo Yunting interrupted her coldly, "Are you so sure my leg can be cured? Don't forget, Doctor Hao said it would be impossible for me to stand up again!"
"Don't worry, your leg will definitely get better!"
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Huo Yunting's face turned cold.
"I really don't know where you get your confidence from!"
Hearing the sarcasm in Huo Yunting's tone, Chi Muzhen couldn't help but ask, "I told you your leg can be healed, why are you still not happy? Don't you want to stand up again?"
Huo Yunting didn't say anything else, but his expression was still terrifyingly cold.
After a moment of silence, Chi Muzhen stood up and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll go back to my room."
"Chi Muzhen."
Huo Yunting looked up at her and said word by word, "Ever since you filed for divorce, haven't you ever wavered for a moment?"
Facing his intense gaze, Chi Muzhen lowered her eyes and her hands at her sides tightened unconsciously.
After a while, Chi Muzhen said firmly: "No."
As soon as he finished speaking, Huo Yunting exuded an icy and captivating aura, and the temperature in the entire living room dropped rapidly.
Chi Muzhen knew he was angry, but she did not regret her answer.
She didn't want to leave herself any wiggle room, nor did she want to go back to being the extremely humble Chi Muzhen whose heart and eyes were filled with only Huo Yunting.
"I'm going back to my room first. You should get some rest early."
In the next few days, Chi Muzhen did not see Huo Yunting in the villa again. She thought he was on a business trip, but suddenly received a call from Xu Ye.
"Junior sister, what's going on with Huo Yunting? He told me not to give him acupuncture anymore."
Chi Muzhen frowned and said, "I don't know either. I'll go ask and call you back later."
After calling Huo Yunting several times in a row, but Huo Yunting didn't answer, Chi Muzhen had no choice but to call Ke Ning.
"Secretary Ke, has Mr. Huo been on a business trip these days? I heard from Dr. Xu that he told Dr. Xu not to give him acupuncture anymore."
There was silence for a while before Ke Ning whispered, "Ms. Chi, the president isn't on a business trip and has been staying at the company these days. Did you have a fight?"
Chi Muzhen recalled for a moment, wondering if Huo Yunting was angry because of what he said that night?
"It wasn't really a quarrel, just a little unpleasantness."
Ke Ning was almost crying while holding his phone. Was it really just a little bit of unhappiness?!
Huo Yunting has been in a very bad mood recently. The entire president's office is in a low mood every day. Every time the department managers come up to report on their work, they are scolded. Recently, they all want to shrink down and hope that President Huo can't see them.
"The president's condition seems to be a little off lately... Miss Chi, why don't you come over and take a look..."
