Chapter 12 Breakup

Ji Lun jumped up, put his hands in his pockets, and said with a nonchalant smile, "Uncle, why do you want me to break up with Xiao Yun? You don't mean you've taken a fancy to my girlfriend, do you?"

Ji Hanchen lowered his eyes, gripped his right wrist with his left hand, and clenched his right fist to move his wrist bones.

Ji Lun was all too familiar with Ji Hanchen's gesture; he knew Ji Hanchen was about to punch him, so he instinctively took two steps back.

"Get out of here yourself, or should I have someone carry you away?" Ji Hanchen said coldly.

Ji Lun pursed his lips and said in a deep voice, "Xiao Yun, wait for my call."

Ji Lun has been afraid of Ji Hanchen since he was a child.

Although this uncle wasn't much older than him, he was born a prodigy, the heir chosen by his grandfather, and no one dared to offend him since childhood.

Ji Lun was a troublemaker since he was a child, and no one could control him except Ji Hanchen.

He was basically raised by Ji Hanchen.

Ji Hanchen scoffed, "Bastard."

Xu Qingyun watched Ji Lun's retreating figure, feeling somewhat uneasy.

Ji Lun actually left his girlfriend at his uncle's house. Was it because he trusted Ji Hanchen too much to do anything to her, or did he simply not care?

"You still want a boyfriend like that?" Ji Hanchen asked.

Xu Qingyun said coldly, "Ji Hanchen, relationships are a matter between two people. I hope you won't interfere with my relationship with Ji Lun."

"Thank you for preparing dinner tonight. I'll be going now."

Xu Qingyun nodded slightly and turned to leave.

Ji Hanchen grabbed her wrist, his eyes seemingly blazing with anger: "At the Ji family ancestral home, didn't you see him holding Xu Jia? Didn't you hear him calling her 'baby' over and over? Didn't you see him being ambiguous with several women at the same time?"

Xu Qingyun exclaimed incredulously, "You mean that person is Xu Jia?!"

Ji Hanchen nodded: "Yes."

Xu Qingyun frowned: "Why is Xu Jia at your house?"

Ji Hanchen choked up. He couldn't very well tell her that Xu Jia was engaged to him, could he?

“Yunyun, Ji Lun is not a good man.”

Xu Qingyun raised her small, pretty face: "Then who is the right person? Ji Hanchen, we just met, why are you so concerned about me? Is it love at first sight or lust at first sight?"

Ji Hanchen wanted to say that both love at first sight and lust at first sight can happen.

But he didn't say it.

He feared that if he acted too hastily, the girl would distance herself from him completely, not even giving him the slightest chance.

Ji Hanchen chuckled softly, "Yunyun, you're overthinking it. I just don't want such a special girl like you to be deceived by my scoundrel nephew. I swear I have absolutely no feelings for you."

Xu Qingyun was slightly taken aback, and when she met Ji Hanchen's dark eyes, her brows furrowed slightly.

If she hadn't heard Ji Hanchen personally admit at Guyunfang that he wanted to pursue her, she would have doubted that she was just imagining things.

Xu Qingyun smiled faintly: "Then why did you ask Mr. Songzhu to repair my jade pendant?"

Ji Hanchen: "...I am a helpful gentleman."

"Regardless, thank you, Mr. Ji." Xu Qingyun nodded slightly and left gracefully.

Ji Hanchen's face turned cold, and he reverted to being "Mr. Ji".

Ji Hanchen did not stop Xu Qingyun. Although he really wanted to chase after her, he held back.

Xu Qingyun wasn't a naive or clueless girl, nor was she love-struck. She knew Ji Lun was a player and that they would definitely break up, so she just waited.

Looking at the still vibrant red roses and the flickering candlelight, Ji Hanchen turned his back, leaned back on the dining table, crossed his arms, and let out a soft sigh.

A perfectly good candlelight dinner was ruined just like that.

Only the old man knows the password to Half Bay. Ji Lun's ability to get in must be due to his father's machinations.

Ji Hanchen's expression turned cold as he picked up the phone and dialed Ji Huai: "Why did you send Ji Lun over?"

Ji Huai was overjoyed: "Caught red-handed? Humph, serves you right!"

"How could an uncle like that try to have an affair with his nephew's girlfriend?"

"Let me tell you, your engagement with that girl from the Xu family is already set and can't be changed. You'd better give up any other ideas!"

Ji Hanchen gritted his teeth: "I'll say it again, I will not marry Xu Jia..."

"You have to marry her, whether you want to or not!"

Ji Huai interrupted Ji Hanchen and hung up the phone.

He did this because he heard that his youngest son had brought Ji Lun's girlfriend home.

"Hmph, what's so great about Xu Jia? Last night when Xu Jia told me she was getting engaged to Ji Lun, I really wanted to flip the table."

"Old Nine married Xiao Yun, and Ji Lun is actually going to marry Xu Jia. The two sisters are marrying the uncle and nephew. The generations are all messed up."

"Xu Jia isn't a good girl either. Since she's Ji Lun's girlfriend, she still went to Lao Jiu's house. Does she want to eat with her uncle and nephew?"

Ji Huai kept talking.

The butler chuckled and said, "The old master is right, Miss Qingyun is still the best."

Mentioning Xu Qingyun, Ji Huai's face immediately lit up with a smile: "What a wonderful gift Xiaoyun gave me! That child is so thoughtful. The more I look at it, the more I admire it. How come our Ninth Master is so blind?"

**

Xu Qingyun left Banwan Villa and returned to Guyunfang.

Old Liu was somewhat surprised: "Miss, why are you back again?"

Xu Qingyun smiled faintly: "Come and repair the jade pendant."

"The light is bad at night, it'll hurt your eyes, so don't stay up too late," Old Liu advised.

Xu Qingyun nodded: "I know, you can go ahead and do your work."

After saying that, Xu Qingyun went upstairs.

She wanted to repair the jade pendant, but she couldn't calm down. She got up, sat in front of the sofa, and brewed a pot of tea.

The jasmine tea had a very pleasant aroma, and after a few cups, Xu Qingyun's mind calmed down.

Xu Qingyun left Guyunfang at 10 p.m. and returned to her residence.

Ji Lun put one hand in his pocket, bent down and stomped out the cigarette with his leather shoe. Hearing the crisp sound of high heels, he immediately looked up.
