Bai Ruiting took a picture of the test results and sent it to Ji Hanchen.
Just as Ji Hanchen was about to zoom in on the image, Bai Ruiting's voice message popped up.
He didn't open it; instead, he converted it to text.
—As it turns out, Huo Xize and Qingyun are not related by blood.
Ji Hanchen's pupils dilated in shock. He clicked on the image again, zoomed in, and then scrolled down to the result.
The above does indeed show that Yunyun and Huo Xize are not related by blood, are not father and daughter, and have no other kinship.
But why did he feel that something was wrong?!
"Old Ji, why are you suddenly so serious? Did you get a message from Lao Bai?" Lu Chuan teased, a smile playing in his eyes.
Ji Hanchen stood up, his voice deep and cold, "Return the call."
Then he looked at Xu Qingyun, "Yunyun, come with me."
"Okay." Xu Qingyun agreed, stood up, straightened her clothes, and followed.
Seeing Ji Hanchen extend his hand to her, she placed her hand in his palm, and the two left the private room hand in hand.
Lu Chuan laughed speechlessly, "Look at how clingy they are. They have to be a couple to answer a phone call, and they hold hands even for such a short distance. Who are they trying to torture? Anyway, I'm a married man, not a single dog."
Shen Luo's face immediately darkened, and she asked coldly, "Who are you calling a single dog?"
Lu Chuan winked and said, "Oh dear, I'm sorry, Lao Shen, I forgot. You and Xia Chu are divorced, and you're all alone now. I'm so sorry to have hurt your feelings."
He apologized verbally, but Lu Chuan looked gloating. He genuinely thought Shen Luo deserved it; she brought it on herself.
Shen Luo gritted her teeth, veins throbbing on her forehead, wanting to stuff Lu Chuan into a pot!
Lu Chuan, unafraid of death, continued to provoke him, "Oh, by the way, my brother-in-law likes Xia Chu, so I'll have to call her sister-in-law from now on..."
Shen Luo picked up a piece of mutton from the pot and stuffed it into Lu Chuan's mouth.
Lu Chuan stood up with a loud "Ouch!", painfully spitting out slices of mutton. He pointed at Shen Luo and cursed, "Shen Luo, you son of a bitch! You scalded me to death! Damn it, my skin is broken! How am I supposed to kiss my Shuangshuang tonight?!"
Shen Luo sneered, "I'll cripple that annoying mouth of yours!"
Lu Chuan gritted his teeth and turned to call Qin Shuang, "Baby, you have to avenge me! Tell them, Chen Luo burned my mouth, ouch, it hurts so much~"
Shen Luo looked disgusted. "That's really disgusting."
"You're just jealous that I have a good relationship with my daughter Shuangshuang."
The two of them exchanged barbs and jabs at each other.
Across from them, Huo Xize and his son Huo Yan calmly enjoyed their hot pot, without even exchanging glances.
But inside, things were already in turmoil.

Xu Qingyun and Ji Hanchen went to the window. Her calm, watery eyes met Ji Hanchen's dark eyes. "Is there a problem with the results?"
Ji Hanchen didn't hide anything, "Huo Xize is not your father."
Xu Qingyun's eyes flickered slightly, a hint of disbelief flashing across them. "How could this be?"
Ji Hanchen said softly, "Don't rush, let me call Ruiting back."
“Okay.” Xu Qingyun nodded, her expression becoming much more serious.
The call was answered by Bai Ruiting, who was still busy and seemed to have the call on speakerphone. "Han Chen, what is it?"
Ji Hanchen asked in a deep voice: "Are you sure the test results are correct?"
Bai Ruiting nodded: "Theoretically, it's impossible for it to go wrong, but if you think there's a problem, we'll do it again, but we'll need more samples."
Ji Hanchen did not reply immediately, but handed the phone to Xu Qingyun next to him.
This result shocked Xu Qingyun, because she had already decided that Huo Xize was her biological father!
Before the test results came out, she had already accepted the outcome, but she never expected it to be completely opposite to her guess.
Calming herself down, she said, "No need."
Ji Hanchen asked, "Are you sure you don't need to do it anymore?"
Xu Qingyun shook her head. "I have faith in Dr. Bai's abilities. If he can produce this result, then everyone else can too."
"Okay." Ji Hanchen nodded and said to Bai Ruiting on the other end of the phone, "Thank you for your hard work. We're at the hot pot restaurant. Come and have some with us."
Bai Ruiting chuckled and sighed, "I won't go. I hate snowy days; everything is dirty."
Bai Ruiting is a doctor with severe mysophobia and hates rainy or snowy weather, as those who know him are aware.
Ji Hanchen didn't press the matter, simply agreeing and hanging up the phone.
Bai Ruiting looked at his phone screen, lowered his eyes to hide the complexity in them, and clenched his hands to stop the trembling.
His hands tend to tremble when he lies, and if Ji Hanchen were here, he would probably notice.
After a short while, Bai Ruiting packed his things and left the laboratory.

At the hot pot restaurant, Xu Qingyun and Ji Hanchen returned to their private room, where the atmosphere was harmonious.
"Little sister, I peeled a lot of shrimp for you. These are freshwater prawns, they're delicious, try some."
Huo Yan smiled brightly, his phoenix eyes filled with doting affection.
Before Xu Qingyun could answer, Ji Hanchen reached out and blocked her, his voice cold, "I'll pamper my own woman; no need for Young Master Huo to bother."
Huo Yan frowned. "Ji Hanchen, do you have any nerve? This is for my sister. I'm peeling shrimp for her, and you're stopping me?"
Ji Hanchen suddenly looked over, two sharp glints flashing in his dark eyes. "The older brother? The paternity test results just came back; Yunyun and Mr. Huo are not related by blood. So, may I ask where this older brother of yours comes from?"
Huo Yan sneered, "I said I wanted to recognize Yunyun as my younger sister, are you out of your mind?"
“Sorry, Yunyun doesn’t readily acknowledge anyone as her brother.” Ji Hanchen had been watching Huo Yan’s reaction.
Huo Yan suddenly narrowed his eyes, about to speak, when Shen Luo snorted coldly, "Xiao Yun only recognizes me as her brother. Xiao Yun, call me brother and let me hear it."
