Ji Hanchen's dark eyes suddenly lit up, and his voice became noticeably excited. "Jiang Xun, Shuiyunzhai!"
Jiang Xun almost burst out laughing. Look how happy their CEO Ji is! He must love Miss Xu so much that his voice changed from excitement just from hearing her location.
**
Shuiyunzhai serves vegetarian food and does not allow alcohol.
But seeing Xu Qingyun sitting quietly by the window, lost in thought as if isolated from the world, Grandma Li took her to the flower room in the backyard and gave her a cup of liquor.
There was really only a small cup, but Xu Qingyun got drunk.
When Ji Hanchen arrived, she was already half-reclining on the chaise lounge, her eyes glazed over, her thoughts seemingly wandering elsewhere.
Xu Qingyun blended seamlessly with the surrounding flowers and plants, creating a picturesque scene that made one's heart flutter, but Ji Hanchen only felt heartache.
The last time Xu Qingyun had red eyes was at Xu Hongru's funeral.
Although she was cold for the rest of the time, she didn't cry again.
What's wrong with me today?
"Yunyun." Ji Hanchen walked over slowly, his voice also very soft, worried about startling her.
Xu Qingyun snapped out of her daze and smiled gently, "Ji Hanchen, you're here."
Ji Hanchen knelt down on one knee in front of him, "Why have you been drinking?"
Xu Qingyun lowered her eyes, "I just miss Grandpa a little. Grandma Li said that drinking a little alcohol would make me feel less uncomfortable, but I don't drink, so I came to you."
She had been away for ten years and had no friends in the capital. The only person she could think of was Ji Hanchen.
But most importantly, Xu Qingyun felt that Ji Hanchen was a reliable man.
Ji Hanchen's heart stirred slightly, and ripples gently spread across his chest. It was good that Yunyun trusted him.
"If you're feeling down, just tell me, okay?" Ji Hanchen coaxed gently, his large hand lightly holding the girl's soft hand, then his brow furrowed deeply.
Is it so cold?
Ji Hanchen immediately stood up, took off his suit jacket, and covered Xu Qingyun with it. Then he knelt down on one knee in front of her and took her hand again.
Xu Qingyun was somewhat drunk, but still relatively conscious, so when a layer of warmth enveloped her, she was momentarily stunned.
When she met Ji Hanchen's gentle and caring eyes, she choked up and actually started talking about her past, which she had never mentioned to anyone before, including Ji Lun.
For Xu Qingyun, the past twenty-two years have been long and full of ups and downs.
Because he was always scolded and beaten at home, Xu Hongru eventually got used to taking Xu Qingyun with him.
Aside from going to school, Xu Qingyun basically spent all her time with Xu Hongru.
Xu Hongru taught her calligraphy, painting, and how to repair broken objects.
That period was the happiest time for Xu Qingyun, but she was soon kicked out of the Xu family.
On the day Xu Hongru had the accident, Xu Qingyun knelt down and cried, begging Xu Sen to let her stay with her grandfather until he woke up.
But Xu Sen kicked her out of the house.
"The Xu family has no such vicious daughter as you! Get out! I'll never let you see your grandfather again in my entire life!"
Liang Wanrou pretended to plead for her, saying, "Ah Sen, Xiao Yun has already knelt down; she knows she was wrong."
Xu Sen gritted his teeth: "If you're going to kneel, kneel on the snow! I'll consider letting you see him again when your grandfather wakes up!"
Xu Qingyun knelt in the heavy snow.
It was really cold that day. Xu Qingyun felt like ice needles were piercing her bones, a sharp and icy pain.
She then fainted and didn't wake up until three days later.
She was already abroad at that time, with her uncle by her side.
The uncle said with heartache, "Xiaoyun, you've suffered. I'm late, but it's alright. From now on, you'll stay with me."
Ji Hanchen listened quietly, his fists clenched without him even realizing it!
Xu Sen treated Yunyun so cruelly; he's a complete beast!
"And then what? Was your uncle good to you?"
Xu Qingyun was somewhat dazed; she had actually had a much harder time abroad all these years.
"Ji Hanchen, thank you for coming." Xu Qingyun did not reply.
Ji Hanchen felt a burning desire in his chest, all stemming from his heartache for the little girl. "Yunyun, shall I take you home?"
"Mmm." Xu Qingyun nodded; she was a little sleepy.
Ji Hanchen stood up, his knees a little sore. He paused for a moment before bending down to pick up Xu Qingyun.
This time, Xu Qingyun did not struggle; she simply leaned quietly against his chest.
Jiang Xun was almost moved to tears by this scene. Could it be that President Ji and Miss Xu have made progress?
He quickly opened the door. "Mr. Ji, shall we go to Half Bay Villa or Miss Xu's house?"
"Let's go to Yunyun's place."
"But Miss Xu is asleep, you don't know the secret..."
Before Jiang Xun could finish speaking, Ji Hanchen shot him a cold glare, and Jiang Xun shut up.
Xu Qingyun remained unconscious throughout the entire journey.
When they arrived, Ji Hanchen gently woke her up, "Yunyun, we're home. Tell me the password."
Xu Qingyun, still trapped while being carried on Ji Hanchen's back, whispered in his ear, "01...12...30."
The girl's warm breath brushed against his ear, making Ji Hanchen feel a slight tingling sensation, and his voice became a little hoarse, "It's your birthday?"
"Mmm." Xu Qingyun fell asleep again on his shoulder.
Ji Hanchen silently made a note of it.
Chiang Hsun's investigation hadn't been detailed enough, lacking his birth date, but this time he did find out.
There are still more than two months until her birthday, and he will celebrate it properly for her then.
Ji Hanchen carried Xu Qingyun into the house, then turned to look at Jiang Xun who had followed him: "Aren't you leaving yet?"
Don't you realize how glaringly conspicuous you are?
Jiang Xun was slow to realize that he was only thinking about following President Ji and had forgotten that President Ji wanted to stay overnight.
"Mr. Ji, I wish you and Ms. Xu sweet dreams."
