Chapter 37 I'm determined to call off this engagement!

Xu Qingyun rubbed her arms, and her collarbone became more prominent as her shoulders shrugged slightly.

Ji Hanchen's eyes flickered, and he immediately took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

Xu Qingyun felt a warmth spread through her body, froze for a moment, then turned to look at Ji Hanchen, "No need, I'm not cold."

"Girls shouldn't catch a cold, and I like Yunyun wearing my clothes, it's like I'm hugging you."

Ji Hanchen's straightforward words stirred a flutter in one's heart, like ripples spreading across a calm lake after a dragonfly skimming the surface.

Xu Qingyun felt a slight itch in her chest and lowered her long, thick eyelashes to hide her unease.

But she didn't insist on returning the clothes to Ji Hanchen. Instead, she wrapped her arms tightly around the man's clothes, covering herself even more closely.

These subtle movements pleased Ji Hanchen, who rolled his sexy Adam's apple and let out a low chuckle.

Xu Qingyun's cheeks flushed slightly. She didn't know why he was laughing, but she instinctively felt that Ji Hanchen was laughing at her.

The two remained silent, a strange emotion swirling in the air.

A moment later, Xu Qingyun glanced at the man beside her. "Ji Hanchen, aren't you cold? Why don't we go back to the car?"

Ji Hanchen shook his head, his eyes filled with endless affection, "I love every moment I spend with Yunyun."

Xu Qingyun's breath hitched.

Ji Hanchen's sweet words were very touching, but she couldn't understand where his feelings came from in such a short time.

It was late at night, the temperature dropped sharply, and the wind was strong and cold on the mountaintop.

Xu Qingyun shivered; it was cold, her toes were icy, and the chill spread upwards from her feet.

She was also worried that Ji Hanchen would catch a cold, so she said softly, "Ji Hanchen, let's go. I'm cold and want to go home."

"good."

Ji Hanchen agreed, opened the car door, and the first thing he did was turn on the car's air conditioning.

Ji Hanchen focused on driving, while Xu Qingyun quietly looked out the window. The two remained silent the entire way.

When they arrived at the residential area, Xu Qingyun was about to return the clothes to Ji Hanchen when Ji Hanchen grabbed her hand.

"Wear it. It's warm inside the car, but cold outside. The sudden change in temperature makes it easy to catch a cold."

As he spoke, Ji Hanchen leaned closer to her.

Xu Qingyun took a small breath, held it, and turned her face to the side.

Ji Hanchen let out a pleasant laugh. "Yunyun, don't be so nervous. Although I really want to kiss you, I will respect your wishes."

Xu Qingyun thought, Ji family's Ninth Master has always been domineering and forceful, when has he ever asked for her opinion before kissing her?

"Ji Hanchen, thank you for tonight." Xu Qingyun remained aloof, but very earnest.

Ji Hanchen's expression turned serious. "Yunyun, every word I said to you tonight was sincere. Everything I did for you was done willingly, so don't thank me."

Xu Qingyun avoided responding and got out of the car.

She wasn't actually good at these things, and all the boys who had pursued her in the past had given up because of her indifference.

Only Ji Lun's perseverance, his resolute yet gentle approach, day after day, moved her.

"I'm going up first, you should get back in your car quickly," Xu Qingyun said hurriedly, and quickly entered the building.

Ji Hanchen didn't move, just put one hand in his pocket, his affectionate eyes always looking in the direction of the corridor.

Xu Qingyun lives on the fifth floor. Her balcony and bedroom both face south and have floor-to-ceiling windows.

Ji Hanchen watched as the balcony light came on, and then the beautiful figure that haunted his dreams appeared by the window, looking down at him.

He smiled, an uncontrollable upward curve to his lips.

The first thing Yunyun did when she entered the room was to go to the window to look at him; it wasn't that she was truly indifferent to him.

**

The Ji family.

Ji Huai, wearing reading glasses and holding his phone quite far away, noticed a red exclamation mark next to the sent photo. His old face immediately darkened, and he let out a heavy, cold snort.

"Hmph, that bastard Lao Jiu actually blocked me! He still hasn't released me right now, you unfilial son!"

The butler was both amused and exasperated. "The only person who would dare to blacklist the old master is probably our Ninth Master."

Ji Huai retorted angrily, "Hmph, it's all because they're spoiled!"

"You're the one who spoiled me, you admit it, right?" The butler covered his mouth and laughed, his words full of teasing.

Ji Huai continued to snort coldly, but did not deny it.

It's true that he spoiled them, but there's nothing we can do about it.

Ren Anjing was too harsh on Ji Hanchen. The child, who was not even two years old, had to memorize two ancient poems, do twenty mental arithmetic problems, learn English, French, and piano every day. His whole day was packed with activities.

While other children are playing freely outside at two years old, Xiao Jiu was punished with a slap on the hand for making a mistake in math.

If Ji Huai didn't indulge him a little, Ji Hanchen would have already collapsed from this suffocating life.

"Master, Ninth Master is back," the butler reminded him.

Ji Huai quickly looked over, a smile immediately spreading across his face. "Old Nine is back?"

Ji Hanchen frowned. "What's wrong with your heart? Have you seen a doctor?"

Ji Huai looked resentful. "Isn't it because of you? Have you ever seen a son block his father's WeChat and phone number?"

Ji Hanchen wearily pinched the bridge of his nose. Was the old man doing this on purpose?!

Ji Huai changed the subject, "By the way, how about tonight at the Xu family's?"

Ji Hanchen's expression softened. "Not bad."

He was very hostile to the Xu family, except for Yunyun.

Thinking of the scene of watching the stars with his little girl on Yunling Mountain tonight, Ji Hanchen felt very happy.

"Oh my, your smile is practically reaching your ears. You seem to be in a good mood. So, you're no longer opposed to the engagement, are you?"

Ji Huai thought he should strike while the iron was hot, but he never expected that his son's expression would change drastically as soon as he started talking.
