Everyone ran towards the intensive care unit.
Xu Qingyun's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't remember what Ji Huai had just said, and subconsciously followed after him, her steps faltering.
Ji Hanchen was indeed awake. His fingers were moving, his eyelashes trembled, and then he slowly lifted his lips, revealing his dark eyes.
Bai Ruiting and Ji Hanchen's attending physician were busy performing various examinations on Ji Hanchen in the intensive care unit.
"Han Chen, can you see?" Bai Ruiting bent down and waved his finger in front of him.
Ji Hanchen couldn't move, he could only let out a soft "hmm" from his throat, very soft and hoarse, as if he was struggling to speak.
A hint of joy appeared on Bai Ruiting's face. "Then can you recognize who I am?"
Ji Hanchen made another "hmm" sound, trying to open his lips, but only managed to make the shape of "white".
But that's enough. It proves that Ji Hanchen didn't lose his memory or become a vegetable, which is a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
Bai Ruiting had the doctor examine him carefully again, then left the intensive care unit, saying with a sigh of relief, "Don't worry, Grandpa, Han Chen is out of danger now."
Tears welled up in Ji Huai's eyes, and he nodded repeatedly, "Good, good, it's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright, it's good that I, an old man, don't have to bury my young one."
After saying these words, Ji Huai could no longer hold on and reached out to grab Ren Anjing.
Xu Qingyun walked to the glass window, looked at the man on the hospital bed, and felt a slight pang in her heart.
Although it was only one night, it felt like an eternity; Ji Hanchen's complexion was unusually weak.
As if sensing something, Ji Hanchen tried hard to turn his head, but the intense and continuous pain made him break out in a sweat.
The doctor quickly pressed Ji Hanchen down, saying urgently, "Ninth Master, please don't move around."
Hearing the doctor's words, Bai Ruiting glanced inside and instantly guessed Ji Hanchen's thoughts.
He sighed softly and said, "Miss Xu, why don't you go in and see Han Chen? He wants to see you."
"No!" Ren Anjing shouted immediately. "She can't go in. She's not qualified!"
Bai Ruiting advised, "President Ren, Han Chen really wants to see Miss Xu right now. Stabilizing his health is the most important thing at this time. Everything else should come later. What do you think?"
Ren Anjing's voice was sharp, "Han Chen wants to see her, but she may not want to see him! Knowing that Han Chen might never wake up, she immediately broke off her engagement with him. How can such a woman be worthy of being with my son?"
Xu Qingyun's eyes widened, and her head buzzed as Ji Huai's words echoed in her mind.
"Alright, as you said, your engagement with Lao Jiu is null and void."
Xu Qingyun's heart pounded like thunder. Yes, Ji Huai was referring to her engagement with Ji Hanchen?!
But what exactly happened? Wasn't she engaged to Ji Lun? Could there be a mistake?!
Just as Xu Qingyun's mind was in chaos, Ji Huai said with a sense of vicissitude, "Xiaoyun, go inside. Even if you don't like Lao Jiu, don't bring up the matter of the engagement being nullified. Lao Jiu can't take any more shocks right now."
“…Okay.” Xu Qingyun’s voice was somewhat hoarse.
She tried hard to keep her face calm, but who knew how turbulent her heart was?!
Even now, she still hasn't processed the shocking news.
Bai Ruiting frowned and couldn't help but ask, "Grandpa, what's the deal with the engagement?"
"Sigh, when Lao Jiu was a child, Xu Hongru and I arranged a marriage between the two children, but now it's null and void." Ji Huai sighed deeply.
I originally thought the two girls liked each other and was planning to set a wedding date for them, but I didn't expect Xiaoyun to break off the engagement.
He didn't know if Xiaoyun liked Lao Jiu, but his Lao Jiu definitely liked that girl Xiaoyun.
Bai Ruiting also showed a surprised expression.
He glanced in the direction of the intensive care unit, his face losing its usual gentleness, a sharp glint in his eyes.
"Why did they break off the engagement?!" Lu Chuan frowned, his expression turning somewhat grim.
Shen Luo sneered, his voice chilling, "What else can it be?! That woman doesn't like Han Chen at all!"
After saying that, he gritted his teeth.
Shen Luo already harbored resentment towards Xu Qingyun because of Ji Hanchen's car accident, and this feeling only intensified at this moment.
Frustrated, he pulled out a cigarette but couldn't find a lighter.
Lu Chuan frowned and reminded him, "Smoking is not allowed in the hospital, so please bear with it."
"I know!" Shen Luo shouted angrily. He hadn't really intended to light it; he just wanted the smell of tobacco to calm his temper.
Lu Chuan smiled enigmatically, "I just don't understand this Miss Xu. Does she really have no feelings for Lao Ji?"
In the intensive care unit, Xu Qingyun walked gently to the bedside, then sat down on a chair.
Ji Hanchen's eyes visibly trembled, a hint of moisture appearing in his pupils.
He twitched his fingers, and Xu Qingyun quickly grasped his hand.
It's hard to imagine that the high and mighty Ninth Master of the Ji family would be lying here, his face ashen and motionless.
Seeing Ji Hanchen trying to speak, Xu Qingyun shook her head, "Ji Hanchen, don't speak yet. You were in a car accident, your arm and leg are broken, you had surgery for intracranial hemorrhage, and your wounds haven't healed yet. Moving will be very painful."
Ji Hanchen listened quietly, feeling that Yunyun was unusually gentle today.
He moved his fingers again, but touched the jade pendant, and his eyes couldn't help but flicker.
Xu Qingyun followed Ji Hanchen's gaze to her hand, only then remembering that she hadn't returned the jade pendant to Ji Huai.
Originally, it was because her grandfather wanted her to marry Ji Lun that she asked Xu Jia for the jade pendant back and came to Ji Huai to annul the engagement.
But now the engagement is off, and unexpectedly the person to be engaged is not Ji Lun but Ji Hanchen.
