She crumpled the paper into a ball and threw it into the trash can.
After carefully taking Min'er's pulse, Zhao Xiaoyue sighed after more than ten minutes. "Damn parents! If you can't treat a child properly, don't have one. Why make her suffer so much?"
"Zhang Xiaomeng, give me the phone."
"Oh, here you go."
Zhao Xiaoyue dialed the number for the comic convention. When the call was answered, a cold voice came from the receiver: "What do you want?"
Zhao Xiaoyue asked in surprise, "Damn electric eel, did you take the wrong medicine?"
"Hmph, come to the company tomorrow, I need to talk to you! It's—very—important—thing!"
"Okay, I'll clear out one of your guest rooms. Min'er will be staying for a few days. You can move to the small apartment and stay with Zhao Zhe."
"Min'er? What happened to her?"
She knew this girl; she was a very hardworking girl.
"It can't be explained in a few words, let's talk about it when we meet tomorrow!"
At the comic convention, I looked at the phone call that had just ended. What happened? The guy surnamed Zhao didn't seem very happy!
Min'er woke up after the anesthesia wore off.
She asked weakly, "Xiaoyue, where am I?"
Zhao Xiaoyue slowed down the IV drip. "Don't worry, your mother is fine at the hospital. Your leg wound required more than a dozen stitches and you lost a lot of blood, so you need to rest."
"Thank you, Xiaoyue!"
Zhao Xiaoyue tucked the blanket in and smiled gently, "There's nothing to thank me for. We're friends. You get some rest, I'll stay with you."
"Um."
Just that one "hmm" exhausted all her strength, and Min'er fell asleep again.
Zhao Xiaoyue left the ward, went to the underground supermarket to buy a bottle of water, and then walked back.
Back in the ward, the nurse was explaining the precautions to Min'er.
On the third day, when the bandages were applied, Min'er gripped Zhao Xiaoyue's hand tightly, closed her eyes, and didn't dare to look at her own leg.
When she entered the house and the knife flew towards her, she was stunned for a moment.
She only cried out when the pain hit her.
Zhao Xiaoyue felt the small hand gripping her arm trembling uncontrollably. She comforted her, "The doctor used cosmetic needles to stitch it up, so it didn't leave many marks."
Min'er mustered her courage and opened her eyes to look at her legs. There was a pink scar about 20 centimeters long on her slender legs.
There was no centipede-shaped scar as she had expected, and she breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Xiaoyue. I'll pay you back the money for the hospital stay."
"What's the rush? I'm not in a hurry for it. I'll pay you back whenever I have it."
Zhao Xiaoyue helped Min'er lie down, "You can stay with me for this month, I'm all alone anyway."
Min'er smiled and nodded, "Then I'll pay your rent!"
"No need for that. If you'd like, you can treat us to dinner!"
Min'er smiled, her pale face breaking into a smile. "Alright!"
"Don't rush to agree, there are four of us," Zhao Xiaoyue said, indicating that the issue was serious.
Min'er smiled and said, "It's just dinner, what's so difficult about that?"
The two of them agreed on this.
Min'er didn't want to be pretentious; her strength and circumstances didn't allow her to be.
The little girl living in reality will grow stronger in every way!
During the day, Zhao Xiaoyue goes to school, and in the evening, she brings dinner and stays with Min'er along with Caihe.
Lan Caihe only found out on her third day of school.
The first thing we did upon arriving at the hospital was to change their regular ward to a VIP ward, otherwise the three of them wouldn't be able to sleep.
Zhang Xiaomeng was discharged from the hospital on a Saturday, and he came early in the morning to pack his things.
"Thank you, Brother Meng."
Min'er was embarrassed.
Zhang Xiaomeng said casually, "Hey, no need to thank me. You're my little niece's good friend, it's only right. Hehehe!"
The big guy's silly grin made Min'er laugh.
Xiaoyue's uncles are really nice people.
The car stopped downstairs at the small apartment building, and Zhao Xiaoyue and Lan Caihe helped Min'er walk into the elevator, one on each side.
The anime convention staff cleaned the guest rooms, put on new sheets and duvet covers, put new toiletries in the bathroom, and filled the refrigerator to the brim before they were satisfied.
Zhao Xiaoyue made this arrangement out of necessity. Her small apartment was prepared by Hou Taotao and the others. The bed was an ancient-style canopy bed, and the bedroom and study were combined.
If someone were to ask, it would be really hard to explain why these uncles were so kind to her.
She bought the small apartment at the comic convention; it's the kind of place that's perfect for a modest, demure young lady.
She'll just switch places with the comic convention for now.
Lunch was prepared by Anime Convention and Zhao Xiaoyue; it was a very ordinary home-cooked meal, plus steamed rice.
Zhang Xiaomeng went to the Cheetah Club.
The two of them slept in the guest room that night. Before going to sleep, Zhao Xiaoyue took out a box of dark, sticky ointment and placed it by the bedside.
She ran to the kitchen and soon brought back a bowl of Chinese medicine that smelled very bitter.
Min'er was confused.
Looking at the adorable Min'er, Zhao Xiaoyue smiled and said, "This is my family's ancestral house, do you believe me?"
Min'er: "???"
Zhao Xiaoyue: "Hehehe, this ointment is for removing scars. It stings a little when you apply it, but it works very well."
He used his thumb and forefinger to make a very small distance between them.
"This bowl of Chinese medicine is for regulating your body. When you were comforting yourself, the doctor said that you had severe blood and qi deficiency, and your liver and kidney functions showed signs of failure."
She picked up the bowl of medicine and said, "Traditional Chinese medicine is easy to nourish and gentle, but it takes time. Also, don't worry, this was prescribed by a famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor from our hometown."
Min'er asked, "Is it really that serious? I don't feel anything!"
"The doctor said your anemia is caused by long-term irregular eating habits and malnutrition. Do you also have symptoms like insomnia and anxiety?"
