Chapter 49 "Hero Lan"

Hou Taotao took the drowsy Zhao Xiaoyue to school early in the morning. Their helmsmanship had improved somewhat compared to the previous two years.

Her face was chubby and she looked adorable no matter how you looked at her. Her hair was a light flaxen color and had a bit of natural curl.

Look, it waddles around when it walks, how adorable!

"Hey, take the helm!"

Before Hou Taotao could finish admiring the scenery, Zhao Xiaoyue, swaying unsteadily, crashed into a tree.

Bang!

"Ouch! Ouch!"

Zhao Xiaoyue was now fully awake, and she was in so much pain that she bent over, clutching her forehead and crying out.

And then, in a fit of rage, he kicked an innocent tree.

Hou Taotao realized he had called her by the wrong name, quickly covered his mouth, opened the car door, and ran to help Zhao Xiaoyue.

"Niece! Are you alright, little niece?"

He quickly rubbed her forehead, which made Hou Tao Tao feel very sorry for her.

Zhao Xiaoyue shook her head. "It's okay, Tao-ge, it's okay. You can go back now. Remember to pick me up after school. I'm leaving now."

"Okay, look at this short distance!"

Zhao Xiaoyue waved her hand.

Many people who witnessed this scene managed to bring a smile to the otherwise dull students' faces.

The homeroom teacher enthusiastically introduced Zhao Xiaoyue, and everyone exclaimed in surprise when they heard that she had won first place in some provincial competition.

Our classmate Zhao, among a bunch of dark heads, spotted a head that was multicolored.

The girl had bright eyes and white teeth, colorful ropes were interspersed in her long hair, and she tied it into a high ponytail with a red ribbon.

Extremely flamboyant!

After the teacher finished the introduction, Zhao Xiaoyue was asked to sit in the back for the time being, and a seating arrangement would be made a week later.

This interrupted Zhao Xiaoyue's view.

The atmosphere in Class 2 was great. The teacher's lectures were humorous and engaging, and the students actively participated in discussions, each with their own divergent thinking.

The teacher assigned Zhao Xiaoyue's seat on a Friday of the week.

The homeroom teacher specifically placed this student, who had skipped a grade and transferred schools, together with Lan Caihe.

If you fall behind, you can always get one-on-one tutoring from a top student.

Actually, the homeroom teacher was afraid that this newcomer would hold them back.

If Zhao Xiaoyue knew, she would definitely chuckle twice.

LOL, were all those degrees and certificates you were forced to get at comic conventions in your past life just for nothing?

However, in the past month, apart from the first day when she stood on the podium and the students were very excited, she found that the rest of the time they were all writing papers one after another.

Just like her deskmate, Lan Caihe, who was incredibly energetic and powerful enough to make several classes tremble.

He's the top student in the entire grade out of thirty classes!

Sometimes, when the teachers are too busy, they ask her to substitute for them.

It's just like the lead goose that braves all obstacles in a flock of geese flying south!

Lan Caihe is said to be not only the apple of her parents' eye, but also the darling of the school.

She often intervenes to help those in need, and of course, she has been injured in the process.

He's known by his nickname—Master Lan!

She was a little excited that the teacher had assigned her to this place.

The little girl had almond-shaped eyes; one glance from her and Zhao Xiaoyue was instantly captivated!

Then, through persistent effort, they became good friends.

This girl is also a generous person. She spoils the chubby, cute transfer student as much as possible and tries her best to indulge her.

It's recess now, but the classroom is no different from a regular class; most students are still studying diligently.

Lan Caihe was packing up the books she would need for the next class when Zhao Xiaoyue lazily lay on the table. "I have a question for you."

"Hmm, go ahead and ask."

Zhao Xiaoyue asked solemnly, "Why did you stay in the human world when the Eight Immortals crossed the sea?"

Lan Caihe rolled her eyes. People always ask: Why did your mother give you such a name?

"Hehe, what's wrong? Are you envious? There's a squatting spot next to Lü Dongbin, want it? Look at you, so capable!"

You're incredibly good at making people choke.

Zhao Xiaoyue chuckled dryly, "Isn't this just making conversation?"

We can't do the work of the Howling Dog.

"Have you done the test?" he asked casually.

Ugh, Zhao Xiaoyue couldn't stand it even a little bit, and retorted defiantly, "I'll make it now and give it to you right away, what are you being so arrogant about, hmph!"

"Oh, good luck then. I'll add some ash to the lesson next class. Copying three papers ten times is no joke."

They called their chemistry teacher, Jia Dianhui, "Add a Little Ash" because of his quirk: if homework wasn't completed within the allotted time, he'd make the student copy it ten times.

She had been punished three times in a row, which made Zhao Xiaoyue very anxious.

Seeing that Master Lan was about to go play, Zhao Xiaoyue pitifully clung to the hem of his clothes.

"Please, hero, save this humble woman's life!"

"Let go, release your grip, let go of me."

Lan Caihe tried hard to pull off her clothes, but Zhao Xiaoyue wouldn't let go.

The only problem is that the school only has a 20-minute break between classes, so even if she knows the answers, she still has to write them down.

She tried her best to eat, but she wasn't very tall and had small hands, which meant she had difficulty writing.

There's just too much homework. Every teacher's requirement is: no matter how good you are, you must finish your homework within the specified time.

But it's never finished, it's just never going to be finished!

Yesterday, I felt relaxed and forgot about three chemistry papers.

That old man was inhuman; he wouldn't listen to reason or force, and he punished her three times, almost ruining her hand.

We have no choice but to ask for help.

"I promise, I swear, I will definitely finish writing next time. If you have any difficulties, you can ask me for help. Please, please, great hero."

Lan Caihe smiled and said, "Give me your two honey-glazed chicken wings for lunch tomorrow."

"That's going too far, I'm telling you, I'm still growing, find something else."

Lan Caihe made a move to leave, saying, "Never mind then."

"Here you go! Here you go! Two test papers, and make sure your handwriting is exactly the same as mine!"
