Chapter 6 Someone like you wouldn't even be considered a fox!

The wonton stall was doing good business, and there were no empty seats for a while, so the brother and sister stood aside and waited. Ye Sisi pointed in the direction of the Heavenly Ladder and said, "Fifth Senior Brother, there are so many sects up there. How should these people be distributed when they get up there?"

Bai Luochen rubbed his nose: "There's no such thing as allocation. Those with good aptitude will be fought over by various sects, while those with average aptitude will just have to see which sect is willing to take them in!"

"What if the applicant's qualifications aren't good enough and no one is willing to take them on?"

"Such situations are rare. Even if someone's spiritual root aptitude isn't great, their character must be excellent. So, they can at least become an outer disciple in a major sect or an inner disciple in a minor sect!"

"Does that mean those who don't make it to the top are destined to remain as independent cultivators?"

"Not necessarily. Some sects don't consider character when accepting disciples; they'll accept anyone as long as they have spiritual roots!"

Ye Sisi looked up in surprise: "There are such people? Aren't you afraid that someone with a bad heart will smear the sect?"

Do you think a sect that doesn't consider the character of its disciples would be a good sect?

Ye Sisi then understood that those sects must be what are commonly known as heretical sects.

"Fifth Senior Brother, how many disciples do you think our Heavenly Spirit Sect will be able to recruit today?"

Bai Luochen scratched his head awkwardly: "Um, I don't know either!"

Seeing that he seemed guilty, Ye Sisi didn't ask any more questions. It was normal for the Tianling Sect, with its meager resources, to not be able to recruit any disciples.

Bai Luochen breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that his junior sister didn't pry into the matter. Their Tianling Sect hadn't recruited any disciples at the disciple recruitment conference for three consecutive years. He, his third senior brother, and his fourth senior brother were all picked up by their master from outside. The new junior sister was also picked up by him.

A seat quickly became available, and the vendor was quick; in no time, two bowls of fragrant wontons were served. Perhaps it was because her body had never been full, but after finishing the bowl, she didn't feel anything; instead, she felt even hungrier.

Seeing this, Bai Luochen ordered another bowl and pushed it in front of her with a smile: "Junior Sister, you're too thin. You should eat more. You'll be cuter if you're chubby and fair-skinned!"

Ye Sisi...

It's fine to eat more, but there's no need to become chubby and pale!

She was enjoying her meal when she suddenly felt a gust of wind rush towards her. She instinctively turned her head, but nothing happened.

She turned her head in confusion and saw that Bai Luochen, who had been sitting opposite her with a smile, had somehow appeared beside her, holding a fiery red whip in his hand.

Following the long whip, the owner holding it was a young girl in fiery red, her pretty face full of anger: "What are you doing? Let go!"

Bai Luochen snorted coldly: "I haven't even asked you what you want to do yet. Who gave you the audacity to lay a hand on my junior sister!"

"She's a vixen, so what if I hit her?"

Ye Sisi...

What did she do? It's unbelievable that she could attract such a jerk just by having a meal!

Looking up, she met the girl's eyes, which seemed to want to tear her apart. She smiled slightly and said, "Being a vixen requires certain qualities. Most people can't even become one. Someone like you..." She paused for a moment, her emerald-like eyes scanning her up and down. "Forget it, you're too ugly. You don't even have the fur of a vixen!"

For some reason, Bai Luochen suddenly stopped being angry. This junior sister's sharp tongue was just as sharp as his master's. Sure enough, birds of a feather flock together!

Seeing that she couldn't retract the whip, the girl in red pounced on Ye Sisi, her ferocious appearance anything but cute. Ye Sisi didn't even flinch, and Bai Luochen, who didn't know anything about chivalry, simply flicked his sleeve and threw her away.

Seeing their young lady being bullied, a group of people standing behind the girl in red rushed towards them, while another group went to find their young lady. Ye Sisi sat calmly and continued eating. Bai Luochen's face was full of sneers. A group of Qi Refining stage cultivators came to provoke him. They probably wouldn't even know how they died.

Soon, the people who rushed towards them fell to the ground. After finishing the last wonton, Ye Sisi said to Bai Luochen, "Fifth Senior Brother, I'm full!"

Bai Luochen said, "Okay, let's go back then!"

Ye Sisi nodded, and the two were about to leave when they were stopped by a group of armored guards. Bai Luochen was not flustered and recounted the whole story. He knew that fighting was not allowed in Yunhua City, but he was only acting in self-defense, so if he wanted to cause trouble, he should go find that arrogant girl.

But to everyone's surprise, the guards seemed not to understand them and drew their swords to take them back to the city lord's mansion. Bai Luochen knew that it was probably related to that brat. He patted Ye Sisi's shoulder reassuringly and a cold smile appeared on his lips.

The two followed the guards of the city lord's mansion out in perfect harmony, and the crowd who watched the whole process couldn't help but gossip.

"These two siblings are probably in for a rough time!"

"They're just unlucky, aren't they? That girl in red seems to be from the city lord's mansion!"

"She's so arrogant! That young girl didn't even say a word; she was just eating!"

"You just don't understand, women can't stand being prettier than themselves!"

"That little girl looks only seven or eight years old, she's still a child!"

After following the guards for a while, they saw the girl in red who had caused trouble earlier. Ye Sisi and Bai Luochen exchanged a glance, and Bai Luochen smiled, his eyes full of ill intent.

One of the guards stepped forward and said, "Miss, the person has been brought!"

The girl in red, addressed as Miss Biao, arrogantly raised her chin, looking even more haughty than before. "Weren't you all so capable? Why are you behaving so well now?"

Ye Sisi said innocently, "Sister, what are you talking about? We have been cooperating with the investigation all along!"

"You little vixen, you dare to play dumb with me? I'll tear that face off of yours today!"

Ye Sisi pretended to be scared and shrank back: "Sister, I'm really not a fox spirit. You've mistaken me for someone else. You called me a fox spirit before and even whipped me, but I'm really not!"

"Stop pretending!" she said, then lashed out with her whip in Ye Sisi's direction.

Bai Luochen gripped the whip once more, his eyes icy cold as he said, "If you dare lay a hand on my junior sister again, I'll kill you!"

"Are you all idiots? Grab him right now!"

The guards were also puzzled. Hadn't they placed a spirit-binding lock on this Foundation Establishment cultivator? Why did it seem to be ineffective?

Seeing that they were about to attack, Bai Luochen coldly said, "Take me to see your city lord?"

"Who do you think you are, trying to see my uncle!"

Bai Luochen finally understood. So this was the family relationship. Hmm, the relationship wasn't too distant. Looks like he could make a quick buck!

He glanced at the guards who had already drawn their weapons: "I'm giving you one last chance. You really won't take me with you?"

Seeing his composure and the fact that he had already reached the Foundation Establishment stage at such a young age, the guards were at a loss for what to do!

"What are you standing there for? Make your move! Do you think my uncle is some nobody you can just see whenever you want?"
