Chapter 66 [VIP]
After wasting two days at home, Jiang Zhuochen's inner turmoil began to subside. He touched his chest, his brow furrowing slightly.
The night he encountered the female ghost, he was busy saving people and, seeing no injuries, overlooked her attacks. She absorbed men's yang energy, and the changes in his appearance these past few days, which he dared not recall, suggested she was probably a seductive ghost.
He rubbed his temples, his head aching, as memories flooded his mind, all jumbled together in a confused mess...
He sighed deeply, deciding not to go to Xu Xing's company and instead to go out and settle scores with the ghost.
That's one way to put it. He sat in the Taoist temple and checked the news online. Nothing major had happened in the past few days, which meant the female ghost hadn't come out. So how was he supposed to find her?
I listened to those news reports about the cases several times. The only useful thing was that all the male deliverymen had their accidents in the old city area, so the female ghost was probably active in that area.
He then switched to the delivery drivers' group, hoping to hear some gossip. Perhaps because of the recent spate of incidents, they were either cursing and refusing any orders to be delivered to the old town.
Right now, someone in the group is wailing and crying, saying that they've been forced to take a job in the old city area and are asking if any colleagues are willing to help.
Jiang Zhuochen casually sent a raised hand emoji, only realizing afterward that he didn't necessarily have to deliver food to get there; he'd really gotten used to doing chores.
The group chat was flooded with thank-you emojis. He thought about it and figured it wouldn't hurt to make the trip; it wouldn't take much time.
The old neighborhood here is even more dilapidated than I imagined, with peeling paint, a musty smell permeating the stairwells, and the narrow spacing between buildings leaving most of the houses in the shadows.
Once inside, most of the hallway lights were broken, so Jiang Zhuochen had to turn on his phone's flashlight and climb up step by step by the dim light.
As soon as he reached the fourth floor, he felt a bone-chilling cold. This was not ordinary cold, but a kind of chilling cold that seeped into his bones.
Something's not right; the building is too eerie.
Jiang Zhuochen stopped, took out a talisman from his pocket, and held it in his hand. The door to room 401 was ajar, dark yet emitting a faint red glow.
This setup looked exactly like an attempt to entice someone to peek through the door, so he did just that.
But as he stood still, the door suddenly creaked open by itself. Jiang Zhuochen peeked inside and saw two red candles burning in the center of the living room, their flickering light illuminating the back of a woman. A peculiar, faint fragrance filled the room, making one feel dizzy.
Just as he began to recognize the scent, the woman in front of him turned around, revealing a face he had seen not long ago.
"Hey, handsome young man, I didn't expect to see you again so soon." The female ghost looked him up and down with a half-smile. "How have you been these past few days?"
Jiang Zhuochen felt a surge of embarrassment and then realized, "You did that on purpose."
"What, you're not enjoying it?" The female ghost said dismissively, fiddling with the two straps around her neck. "It's just stimulating my desires, it won't make me lose my mind, don't be so hypocritical."
"Soliciting nonsense."
When desires are amplified, is there any reason left?
"Boring." The female ghost loosened her belt, her voice deepening, "This is the second time, little Taoist. If you ruin my plans again, don't blame me for being impolite."
Jiang Zhuochen had no intention of leaving. He pushed open the door and openly surveyed the room's furnishings. "This is your home? Your home when you were alive?"
"Yes." The female ghost was surprised by the man's reckless behavior. She took a step back and asked, "Would you like to come in and sit down?"
“Okay.” Jiang Zhuochen stepped inside and walked to the center of the living room.
In the darkness, the two stood silently facing each other, two or three meters apart. The candlelight flickered without a breeze and then went out without warning.
Just then, two figures moved swiftly, retreating to opposite sides after a few back-and-forth movements.
The female ghost's sash transformed into a whip, which she flicked at the person opposite her, only to be blocked one by one by Jiang Zhuochen using the talisman between her two fingers.
He ducked to avoid the ghostly appearance of the other party and landed by the candlestick.
The female ghost withdrew her whip, then suddenly realized and asked, "You're not hiding from me, are you? Why?"
"What do you think?" Jiang Zhuochen exhaled with lingering fear. He did want to exorcise the ghost, but he didn't want to risk it again.
The female ghost laughed in surprise: "You don't actually think you got infected because you had contact with me, do you?"
Jiang Zhuochen's brow twitched at these words, and he subconsciously asked, "What do you mean?"
"It's too late for you to worry about this." The female ghost tied her sash back in place, looking at him with pity. "From the moment this door opened, you were caught in its trap."
"Huh?" Jiang Zhuochen's vision went black.
"While I can indeed act as a catalyst, it's not me." The female ghost narrowed her eyes triumphantly. "It's this cigarette on the ground. It was originally for that stinky man who came over, but now you've gotten it for free."
Jiang Zhuochen remembered that when they fought last time, the female ghost did release a cloud of smoke. He thought it was to confuse her opponent, but he didn't expect it to be a drug!
He hates effeminate ghosts!
Seeing that he had taken out several talismans, the female ghost tilted her head and suggested, "The longer you inhale the smoke, the longer the effect will last. If you don't want to die in bed, I advise you to go back and get rid of the poison first, and don't interfere with my business."
"Then I'll burn it." Jiang Zhuochen pulled out a fire talisman.
The female ghost's face darkened: "Then let's see if you have the ability."
The surging air currents sent things flying, scattering them all over the floor with a clatter. The two men fought fiercely, showing no mercy, their blows locked in a fierce and evenly matched struggle.
Suddenly, footsteps came from the stairwell outside. Both the human and the ghost were startled and turned around at the same time.
Xu Xing watched them silently. A faint, ethereal aura emanated from the female ghost, and a long-lost sense of unease washed over him once more.
The longevity lamp appeared before everyone's eyes at that moment. The soul inside pushed open the lamp cover and merged into Xu Xing's body. His gaze darkened, and the next moment, the female ghost, who had exhausted a lot of strength, knelt down, clutching her chest in pain.
She let out a muffled groan of resentment, then disappeared from the spot.
The soul sprang out after the female ghost left, and then slowly returned to the lamp to rest and recuperate.
Jiang Zhuochen was confused, and when she noticed Xu Xing about to step through the door, she cried out in alarm, "Wait! Stop!"
Unfortunately, it was too late; the lingering smoke enveloped the two of them.
Xu Xing stopped. "What's wrong?"
Without saying a word, Jiang Zhuochen grabbed the person and fled this place of trouble. He breathed a sigh of relief when he got back to his car by the roadside, staring at Xu Xing with a complicated expression.
What brings you here?
“I saw you’ve been here for a long time,” Xu Xing explained, “I was worried something might have happened to you.”
"It's a bit..." Jiang Zhuochen felt like crying when he mentioned this, so he changed the subject: "Are you alright?"
"What could possibly happen to me?" Xu Xing chuckled. He'd experienced the feeling of soul fusion before; it was nothing to him, so if anything happened, it was the soul that was affected.
Jiang Zhuochen touched and smelled him, looking puzzled: "Didn't you not have recovered your spiritual power? How come that female ghost ran away with just a glance?"
Xu Xing explained to him, "There's a wisp of remnant soul in her body, and she sensed it."
Jiang Zhuochen perked up, "Then can you take it back?"
"No, the soul is too weak. I can only restrain it for a while." His tone was regretful, but his expression revealed nothing. Xu Xing joked, "I still have to trouble my precious disciple."
Jiang Zhuochen's fingers twitched slightly at the teasing remark, and a suspicious blush crept onto his ears. His gaze darted around, and he murmured, "No trouble at all..."
"Are you shy?" Xu Xing hugged him, kissed the corner of his mouth, and coaxed him gently, "Aren't you my precious disciple?"
Jiang Zhuochen's heart fluttered, and she snuggled against his coat comfortably. "But Master has more than one disciple."
"Hmm." Xu Xing rubbed his earlobe, then looked down into his eyes. "But there's only one baby."
Jiang Zhuochen bit her lip and nodded reluctantly, but she couldn't help but let a smile slowly spread across her face.
Xu Xing was amused by his reaction, pinched his cheek, and asked, "Why were you in such a hurry just now?"
Jiang Zhuochen frowned, and seeing that he couldn't escape, he could only awkwardly say, "That female ghost was a seductive ghost."
Xu Xing raised an eyebrow. "Oh, so?"
Jiang Zhuochen choked up, and said dryly, "They like to use unorthodox methods to deal with people. The smoke in the room is an aphrodisiac..."
His voice grew softer and softer, but it still reached the other person's ears.
"This solution isn't very simple." Xu Xing's gaze fell nakedly on him, and his hand restlessly pressed down on him. When he noticed the servant couldn't help but tremble, he suddenly remembered that Jiang Zhuochen had been inside for even longer.
How are you?
"...What do you mean, how?" Jiang Zhuochen's voice changed.
Xu Xing leaned closer, his warm fingertips moving to the lower back, admiring the misty eyes of the person beneath him.
"Did you get infected after you came back last time?"
"Um…"
"They don't learn from their mistakes."
"No, I didn't." He was just careless for a moment.
"Then what should we do?" Xu Xing asked sarcastically, wondering why he'd been so unusually enthusiastic those past few days. "Do you need my help?"
Jiang Zhuochen felt embarrassed. Why ask such a question? Wouldn't it have been better to just know the truth in your heart?
Before the other could speak, Xu Xing brushed a strand of his hair aside and teased him softly, "So you didn't want my help. Were you reluctant the other day, or did you just randomly ask someone because you weren't feeling well..."
"No!" Jiang Zhuochen hurriedly denied, moving over to hug Xu Xing tightly, his speech becoming faster: "No, Master, I like it very much."
He rested his forehead on the other person's shoulder, overcoming his initial shyness, and said in a low voice, "It feels very comfortable."
Xu Xing suppressed a laugh and patted the back of his head. "Good boy."
Xu Xing had only meant to tease the other person, and seeing that he seemed to be in good spirits, he didn't take it to heart, assuming it would be similar to the last time.
But the next day, Jiang Zhuochen clearly felt something was different. He clung to Xu Xing more than before, unwilling to be separated from him wherever they went, and would get angry for half a day if Xu Xing went to a meeting.
Xu Xing was helpless. Perhaps because he had only been in contact with the fog for a short time, although he realized that something was wrong with him, he was able to control himself.
He switched all the unimportant meetings to online sessions, and gently held people in his arms, coaxing them. The moment their skin touched, a feeling of satisfaction welled up inside him.
The moment the meeting ended, Jiang Zhuochen cupped the other's face and kissed him, kissing him passionately for more than ten minutes until he was panting heavily in Xu Xing's arms.
Having had intimate contact, the heat within him became increasingly uncontrollable. Jiang Zhuochen was so overwhelmed by the intense heat that he couldn't stand it anymore and even dragged the person to lock up the lounge.
Xu Xing was happy to accompany him, but after a few days of working during the day and being intimate at night, he was starting to feel a little overwhelmed.
Xu Xing frowned, realizing he couldn't continue to indulge them like this on weekday mornings when he couldn't get up immediately.
He observed Jiang Zhuochen's displeased expression but couldn't detect any distress, so he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He gave him a reassuring kiss and coaxed, "Play by yourself for a while?"
He had an unavoidable pile of tasks that came up today, so he had to deal with them and take this opportunity to rest.
Jiang Zhuochen hesitated for a long time, then, throwing a tantrum, rolled over and took the blanket away. "Then go ahead."
"Okay." Xu Xing smiled slightly. "I'll come back early tonight to keep you company."
Jiang Zhuochen believed it to be true and endured the growing discomfort until nightfall, but the person still didn't return. He paced restlessly around the living room a few times, then angrily ran out to look for the person.
The CEO's office was already locked, and Jiang Zhuochen stared at it in disbelief for a long time. His physical discomfort became apparent at this moment, and his reason began to crumble.
As Jiang Zhuochen stepped out of the company gate, the corners of his eyes gleamed under the streetlights. He bit his lip hard and looked around blankly.
If he's not at home or at the company, where could Xu Xing be?
He wandered aimlessly around the company area, hoping to catch a glimpse of that familiar figure.
Exhausted, the heat inside his body intensified to a scalding level, making him completely forget why he had gone out in the first place.
He felt incredibly thirsty, hot, and itchy, and desperately wanted to release his pent-up emotions. Something in his pocket was making him irritated, so he reached out and pressed a key.
As we walked through a brightly lit street, we discovered a small door on a wall by the roadside. Just then, someone pushed the door open and walked out.
Jiang Zhuochen's gaze fell on the drinks in their hands. He swallowed hard, then turned and walked towards the door.
A note from the author:
Don't want it? Really don't want it? Mr. President, your family is about to go bankrupt.
