Chapter 868: The Past (Six) (First Update)
Everything was originally planned well, and Ruan Qi easily sneaked into the villa.
However, she never imagined that the scene in the villa would be so horrific. She also never imagined that those children who were tortured to the point of being disabled would beg her to kill them.
When she felt the dying pulse on the first boy's wrist, Ruan Qi knew that her plan might be ruined.
She couldn't disguise herself as a corpse and watch these living people turn into real corpses indifferently.
The little girl is very naive and always wants to save everyone she can without knowing her own limitations.
So she persuaded, she comforted, she tried to give them hope.
But it was all in vain.
The moment the candle hit the curtains and burst into flames, Ruan Qi's disguise plan and so-called hope of survival all vanished into thin air.
Jiang Chunian guessed all of Ruan Qi's intentions correctly.
Looking at the little girl's pale face, a big smile appeared on his lips, his eyes full of malice.
"Baby, I'm so good to you, but you want to avoid me. I'm a little sad, what should I do?"
Ruan Qi didn't say anything.
Jiang Chunian grabbed her hair and lifted her head up with force.
"See those people?" He pointed at the children desperately crawling towards the fire and whispered in Ruan Qi's ear, "You really want to save them, don't you?"
Ruan Qi's eyelashes trembled, and a bad premonition arose in her heart.
Sure enough, the next second, Jiang Chunian's voice exploded in her ears like a devil's whisper.
"Such disobedient porcelain dolls deserve a lesson. Since you want to save them, I will destroy them all."
Boom——!
The raging fire burned towards the wooden human-shaped statue that was covered in ashes in the villa.
The statue was broken in half, and its head and upper body slowly fell to the ground and were swallowed by the dancing fire snakes.
Jiang Chunian waved to his subordinates.
Several subordinates understood and quickly left the villa. Not long after, they brought in several large buckets.
When Ruan Qi saw the shape of the barrel, his mind suddenly buzzed.
"What are you going to do?!" She stared at Jiang Chunian with bloodshot eyes, her voice becoming sharp due to excessive anger.
Jiang Chunian smiled at her.
"It seems you have guessed what's in the bucket." He beckoned to his subordinate, who placed the bucket in front of him.
Jiang Chunian unscrewed the round lid on the top of the barrel.
In an instant, a pungent smell of gasoline spread all over the place.
Ruan Qi's expression suddenly changed drastically.
Jiang Chunian looked at her pale face and chuckled happily, "Baby, you will be punished for doing something wrong. If you want to hide here, I will burn it down. If you want to save those rubbish, I will destroy them."
Little Ruan Qi had never seen such a cruel person and was completely terrified.
She shook her head wildly.
"No...no...you can't burn them...they can still be saved! They're still alive!"
The little girl's crying voice was like a cuckoo crying blood.
But there was no mercy in Jiang Chunian's eyes, only malice and madness.
He looked at the tears on Xiao Ruanqi's face, and his heart became more and more excited. He raised his hand and waved gently to several subordinates.
"Let's do it."
As soon as he finished speaking, several subordinates immediately picked up the oil drums and unscrewed the lids.
They ignored the "goods" lying on the ground and poured gasoline on the ground, walls, and bodies of these "goods".
"No! No! You can't do this!"
Little Ruanqi cried bitterly and crawled to grab the gasoline barrel.
"They're still alive! Please don't burn them!"
"Uncle, you must have children too. Please let them go! Please!"
The little girl overestimated her own abilities and hoped to gain compassion from these people by begging.
But is there anyone else in Xiaoyao Village?
They are just a bunch of beasts.
The subordinate whose way was blocked by Ruan Qi kicked her away, and the gasoline in the barrel splashed towards the burning window with a "whoosh".
boom--!
The flames instantly turned into a raging fire.
The fire snakes rushed forward along the path of the spilled gasoline, mercilessly swallowing up the children lying on the ground.
“Aa ...
The shrill screams suddenly resounded through the night sky of Xiaoyao Village.
The huge garbage dump turned into a sea of fire in the blink of an eye.
Screams, cries for help, and wails merged into one in the sea of fire. Across the blazing flames, Ruan Qi saw the children's limbs twisted in pain and their hideous faces.
The little girl, who was only nine years old, was completely frightened by this hellish scene.
She even forgot to cry and just stared blankly at everything in front of her.
Jiang Chunian squatted beside her and looked at her with a smile.
"Baby, isn't this fire beautiful?"
Ruan Qi didn't say anything, her body shaking uncontrollably.
Jiang Chunian gently stroked her hair as if she were a fragile porcelain doll. "If you had been more obedient and well behaved and hadn't sneaked here, these rubbish wouldn't have been burned to death. Honey, they died because of you. They—"
"It's all your fault!"
Boom——!
The blazing fire engulfed the entire villa. The scorching flames shot up into the sky, illuminating Ruan Qi's bloodless face.
The devil's whispers kept echoing in her ears—
"You killed them all."
"If you hadn't snuck in here, this garbage wouldn't have burned."
"Why didn't you listen? Why did you want to run away? So many lives have died because of your selfishness!"
"It wasn't Jiang Chunian who burned them to death. It was you, it was you! You brought the candles, you lit the fire. It was also because of you that Jiang Chunian poured the gasoline!"
"You're the one who harmed them! Ruan Qi! You're the one who harmed them!"
"It's you! It's you! It's you!!!"
The voice full of malice and temptation kept echoing in Ruan Qi's mind.
She covered her ears tightly and shook her head vigorously.
"It's not me...it's not me...I didn't mean to hurt them..."
"I just wanted to hide... Someone knocked over the candle... I didn't start the fire..."
"I didn't mean to hurt anyone... It wasn't me... I was right... I was right... I was right!!!"
The little girl's cry was desperate and mournful.
That helpless and shrill voice was like a sharp sword, shattering the cage of memory, breaking through ten years of time, and tearing the heart of twenty-year-old Ruan Qi apart once again with the most hysterical grief.
Ruan Qi opened her eyes tremblingly.
On the roof of the three-story building, a raging fire was raging in the wind, just like that night ten years ago.
The scorching flames, the billowing smoke, and even the frightened cry of Chuanchuan in Ruan Qi's arms, all seemed like a replay of the scene ten years ago.
Ruan Qi looked dazed. Through the firelight, she seemed to see the villa she used to live in.
So many children, so many lives, were reduced to ashes in that fire.
