The man stood and squatted, holding a child in his arms.
"Sister Nan Nan!"
It wasn't until they heard the children's voices that the two snapped out of their reverie.
A two- or three-year-old boy, holding an Ultraman toy given to him by Gu Yibei, stumbled and ran towards Ji Zhinan, his voice still childish.
"Sister, sister..."
Then, like showing off a treasure, she showed her toys to Ji Zhinan.
Ji Zhinan bent down, pinched his little nose, and asked gently, "Who gave you this?"
"Brother!" The little boy turned to look at Gu Yibei, then said earnestly to Ji Zhinan, "Here you go, handsome brother."
"Did you thank your brother?" Ji Zhinan asked.
"No thank you, brother..." The little guy fiddled with the toy in his hand.
"Then I'll take you there. Tell your brother thank you, okay?"
"good."
Ji Zhinan took the little boy's hand and walked over. The little boy obediently said to Gu Yibei, "Thank you, brother."
"Good girl." Gu Yibei smiled.
Ji Zhinan smiled, and perhaps because of the child beside her, she looked much gentler than usual.
"Why are you here?" she asked.
Gu Yibei stood up and replied, "I happened to have some free time recently, so I came to check on things."
Because he had been squatting there for too long, when he suddenly stood up, he lost all feeling in his legs and staggered.
Ji Zhinan instinctively took a step forward and immediately went to help Gu Yibei.
The man took the opportunity to grab her and hold her small hand in his palm.
Ji Zhinan's heart, which had been slightly stirred by the arrival of Gu Yibei, suddenly surged with turbulent emotions.
She stared at the man's face, her eyes wide open.
The man remained calm.
The loss of sensation in his legs was only the beginning. As Gu Yibei stood up, his legs, which had been numb, slowly began to feel a slight tingling, like ants attacking him, and a ticklish sensation.
The sensation quickly spread, and my entire leg began to go numb. Anyone who has experienced leg numbness can understand that tingling feeling.
Even the aloof Gu Yibei is human and cannot escape the torment of numb legs.
Ji Zhinan wanted to pull her hand away, but she saw that the man's brows were furrowed and his features were scrunched up.
It's rare to see him make that expression.
Ji Zhinan couldn't help but laugh out loud, showing no mercy.
"..." Gu Yibei also felt embarrassed, but his legs were really numb.
After a minute or two, both legs finally returned to normal.
Shirakawa carried over a huge box.
"gentlemen."
He was followed by two bodyguards, who were also carrying things in their hands.
Finally seeing Gu Yibei, the three of them put the box on the ground.
The box was huge and looked very heavy; it must have been a lot of work for Shirakawa to carry it here from the orphanage entrance.
"Everything has been moved over."
"Hmm," the man replied indifferently.
"Mr. Gu!" came Dean Liang's voice from behind. Dean Liang had just received news that an important person was coming to their orphanage, so he rushed over in a hurry.
"Hello Mr. Gu, I only just found out you were coming. I'm so sorry for not greeting you properly..."
When Dean Liang first met Gu Yibei, he was visibly nervous and spoke haltingly, not at all as relaxed as when he was with Ji Zhinan.
Gu Yibei was quite direct, shaking hands with Dean Liang: "I haven't been busy lately, so I came to see the children."
"We have been sending you money all these years, and we really have no way to repay you..."
"Of course."
