Chapter 404 Lily's Strangeness

Lily immediately snapped out of her daze and glared fiercely at Ji Zhinan: "That's ridiculous!"

After saying that, she stood up and left in a hurry, her steps carrying a sense of fleeing in panic.

Ji Zhinan had no intention of chasing after them. She turned her head slowly and saw Lily leaving without any hesitation through the glass window.

He twitched the corners of his lips, clearly in a good mood.

He leaned back lazily in his chair, leisurely sipping his black tea.

………

Lily had been restless ever since she left the coffee shop.

It was like there was a record player in my mind, playing Ji Zhinan's words on a loop.

Even the most self-controlled person can lose their rationality when it comes to emotions; that's just how powerful love is.

Falling in love with someone is not wrong; it's everyone's right, and no one else has the right or the right to interfere.

[Lily spends a third of every day of the year at the Ji Corporation. Over the past ten years, she has probably spent more time with Chairman Ji than with her parents, so it's perfectly normal for her to have fallen in love.]

Nonsense! That's not true at all. That Ji Zhinan is just spouting nonsense!

"Secretary Li, Secretary Li?"

Hearing someone call her name, Lily snapped back to reality and was startled to see a face in front of her.

She kept patting her chest with her right hand, looking warily at the male employee in front of her: "What's up?"

The male employee looked confused: "Didn't you, Secretary Li, tell me to hand in the report before the afternoon shift?"

As he spoke, he handed over the folder in his hand and continued, "I have revised everything according to your requirements. Secretary Li, please check it again. If there are no problems, the chairman can sign it."

Lily pulled the folder over, opened it, and absentmindedly flipped through a few pages before replying dismissively, "No problem, I'll send it in for the chairman to sign off on. You can go back to work."

"Oh." The male employee felt that something was off about her; her eyes, actions, and words all conveyed a strange feeling, but he didn't know how to put it.

After glancing at Lily several times, the male employee left, still full of suspicion.

Lily breathed a sigh of relief and had just sat down when the private jet on the table suddenly rang.

She was Ji Pengfei's secretary, and the private jet was naturally connected to Ji Pengfei's office phone. Now that the phone was ringing, there was only one possibility...

Lily stared hesitantly at the still-ringing phone, her usual competence and composure gone for the first time, her face filled with hesitation and entanglement.

Several seconds passed before she slowly answered the phone.

"Chairman Ji."

"Why did it take you so long to answer the phone?" Ji Pengfei's tone was not very friendly.

"I……"

"Come to my office."

Before Lily could explain, Ji Pengfei hung up the phone after saying just that.

There was no sound from the other end. Lily hung up the microphone, thought for a moment, and then took the documents inside.

Pushing open the office door, I saw Ji Pengfei busy with work. He had been dealing with a lot of things these past few days: the company was experiencing operational problems, his house had burned down, his wife was seriously injured, and Aunt Min, that ingrate he had raised for over a decade like Ji Zhinan, had taken all the valuables from the house.

One problem after another followed, leaving Ji Pengfei physically and mentally exhausted.

Hearing the door open, Ji Pengfei looked up and was not surprised to see Lily.

He tossed the pen onto the table and leaned back in his leather swivel chair.
