There is a plum garden in the back garden of the Gu family. The plum blossoms usually bloom in February and March, which is usually late winter and early spring, after the temperature has risen.
But it's only December now, and the plum blossoms at the Gu family's house have already bloomed.
A cool breeze blew by, causing plum blossoms to fall from the branches and drift in the air. Some landed on the ground in twos and threes, forming a thin carpet of plum blossoms, while others fell into the nearby pond. The air was filled with the faint fragrance of plum blossoms.
Not far from the pond is a rather large rectangular pavilion with white frames on all four sides and a layer of transparent glass on top.
The shelf was decorated with vines, and under the pavilion was an extra-long classic sofa, next to which was a white piano.
Three elegantly dressed and exquisitely made-up ladies sat on the sofa chatting, their jewelry sparkling brightly.
"Madam, Miss Ji." Hearing the maid's respectful voice, the three ladies raised their heads in unison and saw Madam Gu bringing Ji Zhinan over, followed by four or five maids.
"Maureen." The noble lady smiled brightly at Madam Gu, "You've finally arrived. We've been waiting for so long."
In front of outsiders, Maureen remained the elegant and noble aristocratic lady. She adjusted the hair clip behind her ear and smiled gracefully: "I apologize for the delay caused by some trivial matters."
The ladies smiled and said, "It's alright, it's good that you've come."
As soon as she finished speaking, a lady noticed Ji Zhinan behind Maureen and asked in surprise, "Maureen, who is this?"
Ji Zhinan wore a beautiful classic long dress, her long hair, curled into small waves, draped over one shoulder, and a classic-style hair clip similar to Mo Lin's was tucked behind her ear. Although her makeup was very light, her beautiful oriental face added a lot to her look, showcasing a unique oriental charm.
Admittedly, the three ladies present were momentarily stunned upon seeing Ji Zhinan.
Aside from the gentle and noble Madam Gu, Mo Lin, this must be the most beautiful Eastern girl they have ever seen.
She and Maureen possessed different kinds of beauty.
Upon hearing the name Ji Zhinan, Mo Lin's beautiful eyes softened considerably. She turned and took Ji Zhinan's hand, introducing him to the three ladies.
"This is my future daughter-in-law, Ji Zhinan."
"..."
Upon hearing this introduction, the three ladies were all taken aback.
Maureen's future daughter-in-law is none other than Gu Yibei's...
Thinking of the rumors they had heard outside, the three ladies exchanged glances. In the end, one of them put on an extremely fake smile and asked.
“Ji? I don’t remember any nobles with that surname in our country Y. And… this Miss Ji looks very unfamiliar.”
Maureen pulled Ji Zhinan to sit on the chair next to her and introduced him very frankly.
“Our Nan Nan is not from Country Y; she is from Beijing, China.”
“China…” The three exchanged meaningful glances before sitting back down on the sofa. Their three pairs of eyes, which looked like ghosts, stared intently at Ji Zhinan, as if they wanted to scrutinize her from head to toe, inside and out.
The maid brought in some snacks and black tea.
One of the ladies picked up her teacup, took a small sip, and condescendingly glanced at Ji Zhinan.
"I've heard that China is different from our Y country, and there are no noble families there. In other words... Miss Ji is not from a noble family?"
