Gu Yibei: "..."
Seeing his wife and cousin getting along so warmly, Young Master Gu once again felt the despair of being ignored.
Now that we have a doting father-in-law who's obsessed with his daughter, what if we get a doting cousin who's obsessed with his sister too?
When your gaze falls on Eddie, you'll see his eyes crinkling and his face beaming with smiles.
Gu Yibei's bad premonition grew stronger.
After finishing his meal, Ji Zhinan received a phone call.
As soon as she left, only three grown men remained in the restaurant.
Gu Yibei looked at Li Yuan: "Dad, I have something to tell you."
"..." Seeing the seriousness and earnestness on Gu Yibei's face, Li Yuan guessed what he wanted to say.
He stood up: "Let's go."
Gu Yibei followed Li Yuan upstairs.
……………
In the back garden, Ji Zhinan stood under the plum tree, listening to the report from across the way.
"I see."
Her tone was indifferent, like a cool breeze.
After hanging up the phone, Ji Zhinan stared blankly at his phone, his face expressionless as he watched the screen go out. A deep, lingering smile suddenly appeared on his lips.
After making the call, Ji Zhinan returned home and saw Eddie talking to Charles about the family business in the living room.
Charleson saw Ji Zhinan enter and said, "Young Miss."
Eddie turned his head, smiling broadly: "Nan Nan."
Seeing that he was the only one in the living room, Ji Zhinan asked, "Where are my dad and Yibei?"
"It seems that Young Master Gu has something to say to Uncle. They have gone upstairs."
Ji Zhinan nodded, indicating that he understood.
Eddie closed the file in his hand, smiled, and raised an eyebrow at Ji Zhinan: "Nannan, would you like to walk with your brother for a bit?"
Ji Zhinan met his deep blue eyes and gave a simple smile: "Okay."
Upon hearing this, Charles immediately put away the documents, bowed to Eddie and Ji Zhinan, and then withdrew.
The two went to the villa's back garden and walked along the cobblestone path, one taller than the other. Neither of them spoke first, and the atmosphere was somewhat quiet.
"I never imagined you were my uncle's daughter."
Eddie spoke first, turning to look at Ji Zhinan with a smile on his lips: "I never expected that Uncle would have a daughter."
Ji Zhinan met his blue eyes.
“I started following my uncle when I was seven years old, for more than twenty years. Everything I have learned so far has been taught to me by my uncle.”
As if remembering something, Eddie's eyes became somewhat dazed: "My father is the son of my uncle's father and brother. During the Warrens family civil war, our side suffered heavy losses. My grandparents, father, mother, and even some brothers and sisters all died in that civil war. Only I, protected by my uncle, was lucky enough to survive."
He vividly remembered the civil war that year; his parents, siblings, and the maid who took care of him were all gone.
"..." Ji Zhinan had always known that the Warrens family had a power struggle twenty years ago, and that her father had left the capital for this reason, but she never knew that the casualties in that civil war were so heavy.
Twenty years ago, Eddie was only seven years old. His younger siblings died, which means...
Ji Zhinan looked dazed. No wonder her father had returned to Europe alone, preferring to leave her mother and grandfather in China rather than take them with him.
Eddie gave a wry smile: "Nannan, the only direct descendants of the Warrens family are the two of us. That's good, at least the burden on my shoulders isn't so heavy anymore."
