"Mo Lin, you are so good to your daughter-in-law."
"Yes, whoever becomes your daughter-in-law will be happy."
Maureen listened with great pleasure as others praised Ji Zhinan.
Suddenly, one of the ladies changed the subject, "We've long heard that Gu Yibei found a commoner girl in China. At first, we didn't believe it, after all, Gu Yibei is the only heir of the Gu family. But we never expected that the truth would actually be like this."
The lady next to her chimed in, "Please don't say that. Maureen just said that Miss Ji is proficient in all the arts, including music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. Whether that's true or not, we have no way of knowing. Why don't we verify it?"
The lady adjusted her white shawl and her gaze fell on the white tripod piano beside her.
"Chess, calligraphy, and painting might be a bit troublesome, but do you have a zither? Would Miss Ji be interested in playing a tune for us?"
Ji Zhinan turned his head to look at the piano, his cold and aloof black eyes devoid of any emotion.
She simply looked at the noblewoman who had spoken.
Seeing that Ji Zhinan hesitated to agree, the smiles on the three noblewomen's faces deepened: "So it turns out that being proficient in all the arts was just a deceptive facade."
Ji Zhinan noticed every little thing they were thinking, and she gave a sarcastic smirk before turning to look at Mo Lin.
“Auntie,” she said.
Maureen quickly replied, "What's wrong?"
Ji Zhinan looked at her and asked earnestly, "Would you like to hear a piano performance?"
Since Maureen likes Ji Zhinan so much, it goes without saying that she would definitely agree.
“Alright.” Ji Zhinan smiled and stood up, saying, “Then I will play a piece for you.”
"Great!" Maureen's eyes lit up.
Ji Zhinan lifted her skirt and walked towards the piano. She sat on the stool, pressed a key on the keyboard with both hands, closed her eyes slightly, listened carefully to the sound of the piano, and then slowly tuned it. Finally, when she was sure there were no problems, she sat up straight.
As her fingers touched the strings, they immediately produced a beautiful melody that blended into a piece of classical music. Maureen listened attentively, a smile playing on her lips, looking quite pleased.
The three noblewomen's expressions changed; they hadn't expected this commoner to actually know how to play the piano.
Ha, it's not surprising that someone can play the piano; most people can these days. Whether you can play it or not is one thing; whether you can play it well is another.
A maid rushed over and, seeing Ji Zhinan listening intently to the music, immediately went to Mo Lin's side.
“Madam,” she called out, then recounted the events in detail to Maureen.
Maureen's face was serious as she asked in a low voice, "This matter can't be delayed any longer?"
"Master and young master left early, now only you are here..."
That was a big deal, and Maureen cared about it a lot.
She looked at the three ladies, bowed apologetically, and said, "Excuse me, I need to take care of some things at home first. Please wait a moment."
The three noble ladies repeatedly offered their respects as they saw them off.
As soon as Maureen left, Ji Zhinan lost his backer, and the three noble ladies immediately became much more arrogant.
Just then, Ji Zhinan finished playing the last note of the scale, ending the note perfectly.
The three ladies sipped their black tea elegantly. After taking a sip, one of them raised her chin slightly and said arrogantly.
"Finished playing?"
Ji Zhinan glanced at her, his expression indifferent.
As if ignoring her expression, the noblewoman sat there and spoke earnestly.
"I have to admit, I was quite surprised when you pressed the piano keys. I didn't expect you to actually know how to play the piano."
