Chapter 48 Damn it, I was fooled by that male fox!

Chapter 48 Damn it, I was fooled by that male fox!

In the hotel corridor, warm yellow light shone on the off-white carpet, making even the sound of footsteps sound soft and gentle.

Jiang Sui followed Luo Yan into the room and closed the door behind her.

Luo Yan's lingering anger flared up again, and she deliberately raised her voice in an annoyed tone, asking, "President Jiang, we've gone all the way, is there anything else?"

Jiang Sui stood two steps away, silent for a good ten seconds, looking at her arm: "Does it still hurt? Can you take a shower by yourself?"

Luo Yan was taken aback, and her heart softened immediately, but that stubbornness was still stuck in her throat.

She pulled her hand back, took two steps forward, leaned close to him, and glared at him with her head tilted back. "Jiang Sui, what gives you the right to care about me? Didn't you say you'd take a step back?"

Jiang Sui stood still, watching her approach like a cat with its fur standing on end. The mist in his eyes slowly dissipated, and a familiar playful look reappeared. "You didn't manage to retreat, did you? Not only did you not retreat, you even took two steps forward."

Luo Yan was stunned for two seconds before she reacted. Her face flushed, and she stubbornly retorted, "If you tell me to back out, I'll just back out. How embarrassing would that be?"

"Then I won't return it."

Jiang Sui suddenly reached out and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. The distance between them instantly closed. He looked down at her, a hint of teasing in his eyes: "How about we sign another 'no compromise treaty'?"

The atmosphere suddenly became a little awkward, and even breathing seemed to slow down.

Luo Yan's waist was encircled by him, the fabric clinging to her skin, and she could feel the warmth of his palms, which made her feel a little flustered.

"I thought... you would blame me for meddling."

"You were a bit reckless, but you didn't do anything wrong. Next time you encounter something like this, you should ask for help."

"helper?"

"Find someone who can control them, such as calling the police. The prerequisite for upholding justice is to protect yourself first."

Luo Yan bit her lip, and the resentment in her heart finally dissipated little by little. She nodded obediently, "I know, I won't do it again next time."

Luo Yan then remembered that she had only eaten a piece of bread at noon, the kind that she just bought randomly from the convenience store, and after all that fuss, her stomach was rumbling with hunger.

Jiang Sui smiled and let go of his hand: "It's not easy to order takeout here. I'll have the hotel deliver food upstairs. What would you like to eat?"

“Anything is fine…” Luo Yan turned her face away, her fingers unconsciously picking at the hem of her clothes.

After watching Jiang Sui finish the call, she took a deep breath and her expression became more serious: "Let's have a good talk."

Jiang Sui hummed in agreement and sat down at the foot of the bed. "Okay, what do you want to talk about?"

Luo Yan looked directly at him and said calmly, "I already know that your father is Jiang Qiming, the chairman of Mingsheng... Don't misunderstand, I'm not here to interrogate you. I believe that you concealed your identity when you joined Feiyang, not to be a corporate spy."

Jiang Sui's pupils contracted slightly, his eyes churning with complex emotions. He remained silent for a long time, so long that Luo Yan thought he still wouldn't speak, before he finally said slowly, "Why do you trust me so much?"

“I did my homework before you came. When you joined Feiyang, Luo Muyang had just started its second round of financing, while Mingsheng was the only dominant player in the industry. In just a few years, Feiyang has grown to the point where it can rival Mingsheng. During this period, you won several big projects and did them very well. A business spy will not help the competitor grow stronger.”

Jiang Sui sighed and looked up.

"Now that you know, what else do you want to ask?"

Luo Yan leaned forward, her tone serious, "What deep-seated hatred do you and your father have that makes your relationship so bad that Ming Sheng can't tolerate you? I always feel that this is what you're hiding from me."

Jiang Sui's eyes darkened, and he slowly began to speak: "When my mother was alive, my father was very good to me. Later... some things happened, and he started to hate me, despise me, and resolutely refused to let me join Mingsheng. You know, at that time, Mingsheng was the only dominant company, and everyone in the industry would give my father some face. So for those two years, I ran into walls everywhere. Only General Manager Luo didn't know who I was. He looked at my resume and let me work there, starting as a technician... Later, together we snatched two big projects from Mingsheng, and he promoted me to vice president, even though it was a special case. He also said that he would make Feiyang number one in the industry and surpass Mingsheng. At that time, I was holding my breath, wanting to show my father that even without the halo of being 'Jiang Qiming's son,' I could still achieve something."

After saying that, his gaze fell on the gauze on Luo Yan's arm. "Don't be so foolish in the future. Not every trivial matter is worth risking your life for."

"You haven't answered my question yet." Luo Yan sensed that he was avoiding the main point. "Jiang Sui, your matter is not my business."

Jiang Sui smiled helplessly, as if defeated by her: "The brooch was something my dad forced me to give to Miss Hua. He said it was for her birthday and he wanted me to try and build a relationship with her. Then I mixed up the necklace and the brooch I gave you. Miss Hua told me to go to her party with her before she would give me back the necklace. She also said she would tell my dad if I didn't go. I had no choice but to go, but I took the necklace and left without staying for a second longer."

"Did your dad hold a knife to your neck?" Luo Yan frowned, her logic becoming exceptionally clear and meticulous, comparable to Sherlock Holmes. "You don't even care about your status as the Crown Prince of Mingsheng, yet you're afraid of your dad getting angry? No one can force you to do things you don't want to do."

“He’s my dad, I can’t really turn against him.”

Jiang Sui stood up and naturally changed the subject, "You've been busy all day, you must be tired?"

"Your hands can't get wet. We're going to eat later, so I'll help you wipe your face."

Jiang Sui grabbed a disposable face towel that Luo Yan had brought, soaked it, pulled her wrist, led her to the mirror, and began to wipe her face.

A warm, slightly fragrant towel was placed on her face. Jiang Sui moved very gently. After wiping her face, he took her hand and used a cotton swab to carefully clean the bloodstains remaining under her fingernails.

Luo Yan stared blankly as he bent down and carefully wiped her hands. Her face began to burn again, even the tips of her ears felt hot.

How pathetic! You've already slept with him, and you still managed to "seduce" him!

"What are you thinking about? Your face is so red. Do you want me to help you take a bath?"

Jiang Sui was wiping the back of her neck, his warm breath tickling her ears.

Luo Yan snapped back to reality and quickly retorted, "I didn't! Stop talking nonsense, I bet you wouldn't dare..."

Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Sui suddenly grabbed her hands and pressed them against the wall. Luo Yan's back was pressed against the cold wall, while his warm chest was in front of her, and she froze completely.

"What...what are you going to do?"

What do you think?

Jiang Sui lowered his head and gently brushed his lips against her cool nose. His warm breath brushed against her lips. His voice was low and slightly husky with suppressed emotion. "Comrade Luo Yan, your provocation is very effective. Why don't I prove to you whether I dare to do it or not?"

"That's not what I meant!" Luo Yan was pinned down and unable to move. She was flustered and confused, afraid that he would get serious, but also a little bit... hoping that he would get serious.

No, no, Luo Yan, wake up! You came all this way not to "serve him in bed," but to solve a communication problem, not a physiological one!

"Jiang Sui, let me go first..." She pushed him, but couldn't muster any strength.

"I won't let go."

Jiang Sui tightened his grip, but deliberately avoided touching her injured area. He gazed at her face, his eyes filled with tenderness.

Luo Yan panicked even more and quickly turned her head away, not daring to meet his gaze: "What are you looking at..."

"Look at you... I like seeing you blush with shyness; it's much cuter than when you're all puffed up."

Jiang Sui chuckled softly and leaned down to kiss her lips.

The kiss began as a gentle probing, but quickly grew passionate. His tongue pried open her teeth, entwining with hers with an irresistible force. He freed his hands to slowly unbutton her clothes, kissing her shoulder, collarbone, and then back down her neck to her lips, deepening the kiss.

Luo Yan tried to push him away, but her body went limp, and she could only cling to his shoulders and passively endure it, a soft sob escaping from her lips.

"Jiang Sui...no...uh!"

The kiss lasted a long time, until both of them were out of breath before it stopped.

Jiang Sui stepped back slightly, his forehead pressed against hers, his eyes deep as the sea, surging with undisguised desire.

"Haven't seen you for two weeks, did you miss me?" he asked in a hoarse voice, his fingers gently pinching her chin. "Do you want it?"

Luo Yan pursed her lips, lowered her eyes, and dared not look at him.

These two questions are too difficult to answer.

How could she not miss him? For the past two weeks, she'd dreamt of him every night—of him holding her, of them bickering. But rationally, she was a little scared. Her inner turmoil hadn't truly been resolved yet, and now…wasn't that a bit too hasty?

"I want to, but..."

The doorbell rang, interrupting her. It was the hotel delivery.

Jiang released his grip, let out a long breath, and calmed down. He ruffled Luo Yan's hair and turned to open the door.

Dinner was a simple meal of two dishes and a soup: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and winter melon and meatball soup—all of which were Luo Yan's favorites.

Jiang Sui arranged the lunchboxes, wiped the water off her hands, and walked towards the door: "Eat and get some rest. I still have a plan to review, so I'll head over now. Call me if you need anything."

Luo Yan stared blankly as he left. Only when the door closed did she suddenly wake up as if from a dream. She hurriedly straightened her disheveled clothes, looked up at herself in the mirror, and the passion from the kiss still lingered on her flushed cheeks. Her eyes were still misty.

She stomped her foot in frustration and hissed at her reflection in the mirror, "Luo Yan, have you ever quit drugs? You're already like that... and you still want to hit the brakes?"

No, that's not the point!

Luo Yan suddenly realized what was happening, put her hands on her hips, and was so angry she wanted to laugh.

The main point is, she didn't even understand the issue, yet he kissed her for ages, and then he just left? So, she came all this way to give him "benefits"?
