Chapter Twelve: How Scandals Are Created

Chapter Twelve: How Scandals Are Created

After more than a month of complicated approval processes, the smart tourism project has officially entered the practical implementation stage.

That morning, Jiang Sui made a phone call directly to Luo Yan's landline.

"Comrade Luo Yan, we plan to conduct an on-site survey for the selection of a server room at Taohuatan Scenic Area at 8:00 AM tomorrow. We need you to bring the documents with you for the meeting. Is there any problem?"

Even through the microphone, Luo Yan could feel the chill in Jiang Sui's voice shooting straight to the top of her head. Holding the documents she had just received that day, she replied dryly, "No problem."

She's probably the first person to be so frustrated as the "client" in this situation.

She immediately dropped the microphone, grabbed her phone, and sent a message to Zeng Rong:

"Granny Rong, he's here! He's here! He's coming with his revenge plan! He could have just sent someone to get the documents, but he made me go there instead! Peach Blossom Pool is full of pools of all sizes. Is he trying to trick me into going to the water's edge and kick me in, making it look like an accidental drowning?"

A few minutes later, Zeng Rong replied:

- Yan Yan, calm down. Based on my years of experience studying human behavior, if President Jiang really wanted to get revenge on you, he would have a million ways to make you teeter on the edge of social death. There's no need for physical elimination, which is not only illegal but also troublesome and inelegant.

Luo Yan:

Thank you for your comforting words... [facepalm]

The next day, Luo Yan, with a death wish, arrived at the scenic area entrance on time and saw Jiang Sui already there with his technical team. He was wearing a dark gray windbreaker, and his tall figure in the thin morning mist gave him the air of a protagonist in a wilderness adventure documentary.

Upon seeing Luo Yan, he merely nodded slightly as a greeting, then took the file bag she handed him, glanced at the official document inside, and turned to the technicians, saying succinctly, "Start with section AC."

The group immediately got to work, and Jiang Sui switched to workaholic mode, surveying the terrain, measuring data, and discussing plans. His eyes were focused, his instructions were clear, and his efficiency was frighteningly high.

Luo Yan followed behind them, trying several times to get closer and find an opportunity to bring up the "treaty." Just as she had composed herself, she began, "President Jiang, regarding our previous..."

Jiang Sui didn't even look up, pointing to a spot on the blueprint: "The slope at this point isn't steep enough; we need to pay special attention during construction."

Luo Yan: "..."

After a while, she sidled up to him again: "Mr. Jiang, actually, what I mainly wanted to do today was..."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Sui glanced at her sideways, her brows furrowing slightly: "You're blocking the test signal."

Luo Yan, sweating profusely, said, "Uh... I'm sorry."

Having finally seen Jiang Sui sit down, she immediately ran over, "Mr. Jiang, can we chat for a few minutes?"

Jiang Sui, however, turned to the people around him and said, "The server room needs a dedicated network line and a separate power supply to ensure stable operation. Also, the room needs humidity monitoring, and we need to add a suspended ceiling. I'll go confirm this with the information center later..."

She could only awkwardly step aside again, thinking to herself that this person was like an emotionless machine when working, what should she do?

And so, Luo Yan followed Jiang Sui like a resentful little tail for the entire morning, but couldn't find an opportunity to bring up personal topics.

The sun was getting stronger and stronger, and she realized that she hadn't eaten breakfast in her rush to leave home that morning. It was almost noon, and Jiang Sui still showed no sign of finishing. She touched her bag and found only a pack of soda crackers that Liu Su had given her yesterday. At that moment, she felt flustered and short of breath, and her vision blurred.

Is Jiang Sui planning to cultivate immortality? He's even skipping his meals.

As time passed, the team finally stopped at a relatively flat spot halfway up the mountain.

Luo Yan couldn't hold back any longer and staggered over, "President Jiang, I...I have something to do..."

Jiang Sui finally raised his head, his gaze falling on her pale face: "Your complexion...is not feeling well?"

His rare words of concern almost brought tears to Luo Yan's eyes, and she quickly seized the opportunity: "It's nothing, I'm just a little hungry... Can we go over there... and chat for a bit?"

As she spoke, she instinctively reached out to grab his arm, but before she could even extend her hand, a violent wave of dizziness struck without warning. The world spun around her, and she heard someone shout, "Watch out!" At the same time, everything went black, and the system crashed.

Jiang Sui reacted quickly, instinctively reaching out to catch her limp body.

"Luo Yan? Luo Yan!" He patted her cold face and cursed under his breath, "Troublesome."

Technicians gathered around: "Mr. Jiang, should we call 120?"

"It's probably low blood sugar. You guys continue, I'll take her to rest."

Jiang Sui scooped up the unconscious Luo Yan and strode quickly toward the visitor center at the foot of the mountain. His steps were steady and fast, but his face was so gloomy it could drip water.

This woman, she's probably here to collect a debt from him!

Not far away, employees of a company who came for team building were playing around and laughing. Suddenly, a girl with bangs looked like she had seen an alien. Her lips and the hand that was taking a selfie with her phone trembled with shock.

She couldn't believe her eyes. She rubbed them and walked closer. Sure enough, the person being carried in a princess carry was her college classmate, Luo Yan!

A few minutes later, a high-definition photo suddenly appeared in a long-dormant classmate group chat and caused an uproar.

Tang Lili:

-Breaking news! Our company had a team-building event at Peach Blossom Pool today, and we ran into Luo Yan! She fainted and was carried in a princess carry by an incredibly handsome man!

The photo captured Jiang Sui's taut profile, while Luo Yan leaned softly against him, creating a scene that was quite suggestive.

The group chat instantly erupted in excitement:

Holy crap! That guy is so handsome!

- Luo Yan really has a boyfriend? I thought Yang Xin was joking when she mentioned it last time!

I never expected that Luo Yan, who used to chase after Wu Yuzhou, would have another boyfriend so quickly? Who would believe that they weren't having an affair?

- That guy's windbreaker costs several thousand yuan, he's no ordinary person, no wonder Luo Yan hid it so well!

The news spread like wildfire, and soon Yang Xin, who was trying on wedding dresses, also saw it.

She zoomed in on the photo on her phone screen; her perfectly done acrylic nails were almost digging into her palm.

Impossible! How could Luo Yan possibly hook up with a man like that? What makes her think she can?! She must have found some random model somewhere and deliberately let them get photographed to annoy her, right? Hmph, she thinks she'd fall for that?!

Yang Xin slammed her phone on the table, startling the wedding consultant next to her.

"Miss Yang, are you alright?"

"Something's up! What are all these recommendations you've given me? I don't want them, I'm looking at something else!"

Yang Xin was so angry that her face flushed red, and she completely lost the mood to try on wedding dresses.

"Luo Yan, I will definitely expose you!"

On the sofa in the lounge, Luo Yan slowly woke up and opened her eyes to meet Jiang Sui's indifferent gaze.

"Comrade Luo, has anyone told you that fainting due to low blood sugar is an old-fashioned method that is cheap but lacks originality? If you want to get my attention next time, try some other more sophisticated tricks."

Luo Yan was so angry that she couldn't catch her breath. She suddenly sat up and said, "I haven't eaten yet. I'm so hungry I fainted!" But she got up too quickly and spoke too fast, which made her dizzy again, and she almost fell back down.

Jiang instinctively reached out, but quickly withdrew it as if it were a hot potato.

"You're proud of affecting project progress during work hours for personal reasons? Let me remind you, Article 6 of the 'Mutual Non-Prosecution Treaty' supplementary clause states: Neither party may retaliate against the other at any time, in any place, or in any manner because of what happened last night. Doesn't what you're doing now constitute a disguised form of retaliation?"

Luo Yan was so angry that her liver hurt. She quickly pressed her forehead and braced herself against the sofa armrest to sit up properly: "I just wanted to talk to you about that damn treaty, but you didn't even give me a chance to interrupt. I'm getting so thirsty from waiting!"

"What are you going to talk about?" Jiang Sui took a step closer, looking down at her. "Are you going to talk about how you're going to continue this absurd lie in front of President Luo, or what more sophisticated methods you plan to use to spread rumors and blackmail me? Comrade Luo Yan, my patience has its limits. You'd better clarify things as soon as possible, otherwise..."

Luo Yan felt her scalp tingle under his threatening gaze, but she wouldn't back down, so she retorted defiantly, "Otherwise what? If you dare to expose the agreement, I... I'll go to Feiyang and put up big-character posters saying you sexually harassed me!"

Jiang Sui chuckled softly, his disdain undisguised: "I suggest you put away your childish cleverness, behave yourself and do your job properly, and stop causing me trouble. Maybe then I can consider keeping that treaty hidden forever." After he finished speaking, he turned to the technicians who were peeking in through the door and calmly gave them instructions for the next task, as if the heated conversation just now was just a hallucination caused by Luo Yan's fainting spell.

Luo Yan leaned weakly against the sofa, pondering whether to continue arguing or strategically back down. Did Jiang Sui's words mean there was no room for negotiation? She felt utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally, with no hope for the future.

Jiang Sui turned to look at her, a faint smile in his eyes, but his words were still infuriating: "Can you walk now, you weak client? Or do I have to sign another 'Peach Blossom Pool Mutual Non-Prosecution Agreement' before you'll get up?"

Luo Yan: "..."

Good heavens, could you please send a god to take this scoundrel away?

As night fell, Luo Yan dragged her weary body back to her small apartment, collapsed onto the bed, and wished she could sleep forever.

The phone rang like a curse, it was Zeng Rong.

"Hey, if you're asking about the princess carry thing, let me solemnly declare: I had low blood sugar, and he was just providing emergency assistance out of basic humanitarian principles. There was absolutely no romantic element to it! Over!"

"Are you alright? Why do you seem so weak?"

"You might survive this time, but you might not survive next time..."

"Cheer up, something's happened!"

"Hmm... what could be more difficult to deal with than Jiang Sui?"

"This afternoon, General Manager Luo said in an internal company meeting that he's getting married soon, and then he had the HR director retrieve General Manager Jiang's file! Now the whole company is saying that you and General Manager Jiang are getting married soon!"

"What?!"

Luo Yan was so frightened that her voice went awry, as if a bolt of lightning from the heavens had struck her head.

What could be more difficult to deal with than Jiang Sui? There really is one: Luo Muyang personally welded her to Jiang Sui's pirate ship!

The sky... has... collapsed!
